  1. Yes, I'm still waiting for my SOH crystal to be returned - despite several mails to Geoff, no replies and no idea if I'll ever get this back. Anyone know where I could source another rep SOH crystal from? Thanks
  2. Duck tape usually does the trick for me - tear off a good length and then ball it up, sticky side out, and then add another small piece (sticky side to sticky side) so that you have something to hold onto. Press the sticky ball onto the caseback and you should be able to get it to turn........if not then you'll need the proper case-back tool, although if you take it into a local jeweller and ask them nicely they might open for you Nice piece though, not sure what movement that would be, but it's worth asking around, either to then sell it on, or maybe take the challenge a build your own franken
  3. Ubi - thanks, but after searching high and low it seems that the Dillons are totally sold out Besides, my wife seems to think I have enough shoes already......
  4. John, that really is an awesome looking watch I followed your previous posts on homages, and I'm really coming round to the idea, especially since they seem to be very good quality and relatively cheap.........and of course since they're unbranded you can modify them to suit your own taste Much as I'd like to emulate your mini-fiddy, I don't have the tools yet; however, I think this months (watch)funds can stretch to that stealth rad, so I'm off to order that now
  5. This has been on my wrist since it got back from it's Canadian vacation
  6. Sadly, neither are mine, snapped these two at the Le Mans Classic last year................but one day a 356B Super90 may end up in my garage Although I'd love a Carerra engined C, I don't think my funds would stretch that far, prices seemed to have sky-rocketed in the last few years!
  7. Awesome and I'm with Stephane on this, your projects provide a lot of inspiration! Great looking Nato strap too - nicely faded black, or is it a dark grey?
  8. Wow , that's just the boots I have in mind when I think of cowboy boots - fantastic patina too! I need a pair of these Had a quick look at the Frye website, but couldn't work out which model they are?
  9. Well, if we're talking boots, I opt for either my RM Williams Crafstmen, in chestnut, (great for my line of work as I spend time in an office and on site, and can double up as casual evening wear with jeans when on business trips), or my tan nubuck classic Timberlands........but I do hanker after a pair of cowboy boots, just living in the wrong country to get away with wearing them
  10. I'm in, can't resist picking up one of Stephane's collection I'm sure that they don't do this on the 'real' forums
  11. Wow, that's amazing! When I see posts like this, I think, "I could try that......". But then I realise that if I had the inspiration, ability, patience and nerve, then I already would have Thank you Pugs for diving in where others wish they could, and for having the generosity to document it for those who follow
  12. I'm still waiting for my SOH crystal to come back; last communication from Rocketeer was to tell me that he was sending the crystal off for re-coating, but that was 3 weeks ago.
  13. Big congrats to Admin! Love the new look, especially in Dark Side, very cool All works very well for me so far, no issues with page size or borders, but I'm wondering what happened to the 'Starred Posts' section? I was using that to build up my own little reference library, so I be keen to know if it's gone for good, or if it's due to return with further tweaks as we go through this week. Really missed this place when it was down........
  14. Pix - glad to hear that you've finally got your stuff back. I haven't been following this post recently, but I still have a crystal with Rocketeer (it was one of the ones that had an 'imperfect coating'.....yeah, right), and the last comms I had was on 5th June. I sent another mail yesterday asking for the crystal back, as it is.........so far no response. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm jinxed, as this very same crystal was in Jakub's hands when he did his disappearing act, although I eventually got it back, uncoated.......I haven't worn this watch for over a year now On thing you definitely learn in this hobby, is patience.
  15. If you click the link to the raffle log-in page, there's a status update in red text, just below the main box - so far only 11 tickets have been sold, which is quite surprising as I thought that folks would have jumped at this unique opportunity?
  16. I, for one, wouldn't want to be the pneumonia bug that's currently attacking your system.......if you respond with even half as much energy, enthusiasm and stamina (always posting, or on shoutbox) as you bring to this forum, it won't know what hit it!! Hope to see you back here soon buddy.
  17. :Jumpy: ...............'Tis the 7th already here in sunny/rainy England
  18. Wow, that really is an unbelievable offer - I can see this being a bit like camping outside the big department stores before the January sales ....................I'll be sleeping here next to my computer until I know that I've managed to secure a ticket Gents, please give yourselves a pat on the back for coming up with such a brilliant idea
  19. That's some great beating on those watches, mind if I ask what method you used? I've got a sub case that I'd like to look vintage...
  20. Great post Ubi I've been considering a 6263 project for some time, and this pretty much answered all my questions (and pushed me that bit closer to actually starting )
  21. The Zigmeister relumed my Slevin and I'm pleased as Punch And, to add to the other comments, it really is an unbelievably good piece of work, micron-perfect alignment around the numerals in particular. If I had a gen and wanted it relumed, I know where I'd be sending it One other comment is that whilst there's no denying that the rep is excellent 'out of the box', once modded (movement, date wheels and lume) it feels very 'gen' like.......and no, I'm not selling it
  22. Ah, yes, hadn't spotted the datewheel, but I did wonder about the AR.........and you're absolutley right to go with double, even if it's not correct, it just brings that dial out so much BTW - I have the incorrect bezel (but correct case), any suggestions for sourcing the correct bezel, or do I have to buy a complete watch from trusty just for the bezel?
  23. As one who's heading down the same path, that looks absolutley kliller - great job!! So, old case with ETA7753, better dial, single AR, T48 crown........?
  24. Fantastic watch! And indeed '68 was a very good year
  25. As we're moving into boots here as well, I'd just like to say that I'm breaking in my first pair of RM Williams Craftsman boots. Really good looking and well made, with a lot of heritage.
