  1. Someone said it earlier... Disposable income = Purchase what you want when you want. Anything else is a lack of self control, USA, Italy, or where ever.

There is a reason you don't pee yourself everyday... Self control. Spending is no different. Even if the banks come calling, don't do it; have self control.

We can all live within our means it is just that society has made living outside of it acceptable.

  2. Rolex changed the dials a while back. Maybe 3 ticks was first, then 5 ticks. Both are correct, just one of the Rolex idiosyncrasies.

But changes for the 50th Anniversary Sub? It is supposed to be a single run...that ended up staying in production. I understand the thought behind the other subs, it makes sense; but not on a commemorative item, that would spoil it, no?

  3. So here is the short story. I was talking to my neighbor about watches when he said he has one from his Dad that he was going to sell on eBay. He digs out of a box in his garage and pulls out an Omega SeaMaster and says he thinks he can get $200 for it.

I have always liked the look of the antique watches and offered him $100 on the spot. After a little talking, the deal was done and it now has a new owner. It runs fine but I did not wind it much than just to see if it works, (as I suspect it is dry as a bone).

I took it to my watch smith and he valued it at $2,000 on the cleaning invoice. Who is right?

    Apologies for the bad pictures...

    Is it worth:

    $100

    $200

    $2,000

I think for $100 I got a good deal as I suspect it is authentic. Add to it $125 for oil and cleaning so I am now into it for $225

  4. Makes you wonder that when you are offering watches from $10,000 to $20,000 why you can't eat the shipping and insurance costs.

    Ken

When spending $20K whats a little shipping and insurance? *Or* it is how the rich stay rich... (nickel here dime there). I wonder what he spent in total on the collection and what he/she is now going to get for it? They say you have to have money to make money. It seems that way in this case...

  5. Sorry to hear about the dead Navi!

Hoping I don't suffer the same fate - I've got my first two reps (Breitlings) on order from Andrew (TrustyTime):

    - Blk/Graphite Ultimate BCE Asian

    - Black Stick Marker "New Style"/3-6-9 Navi

Order placed about a week ago.

Trying to restrain from ordering some more already! They can't get here fast enough.

Andrew has always come through for me. Good quality and GREAT communication.

  6. There is a jeweler in the Dallas Texas area who will service Replica watches. That in itself is no big deal, (nice to have). I brought my Submariner in for a cleaning and oiling. He was very impressed with the Submariner from Andrew and wanted to show me his own line of watches.

Here is the shocking part. The watches were Rolex replicas with his name on the face. I mean they had no Rolex markings, but the

  7. is there a way to easily test waterproofness and at the same time guarantee the watch's safety?

    Pressure test.

If you are in the States, call around to watch repair / jewelry repair stores and ask if they service or pressure test replica watches. I have found in Dallas 1 out of 3 will. They call it a "generic watch" and service is $$95 for a maintenance and oil; $55 for a pressure test.

But the bracelet is still no fun. I hope the dealer's name doesn't start with "A" :whistling:
