  1. Nice to b back on RWG after a long abscence. I've had this 28A in a drawer disassembled for the better part of a year. I bought a gen right around the same time I got this back from having gen PVD applied, so I never felt rushed to get it up and running. Rolli supplied the PVD service (which included leaching the old fake PVD coloring off) and some additional parts. So big thanks to him! Before I purchased the 28, the previous owner had already had some significant mods done including the date wheel and cyclops. In addition to the PVD, I've since added a new crown and purchased a gen buckle, which rolli coated for me as well. I couldn't be more pleased with the way this piece turned out.

I apologize for the crappy pictures, but I was so excited at how this turned out I wanted to share what I could. FYI, the crystal is actually in perfect condition, any blemishes are due to my impromptu photography. I'm going to dress it up with a nice Simona croc that I have lying around somewhere and then take some real pics to share later. In the meantime, please indulge me as I welcome my new baby into the family! :D

  2. Are there any mods that routinely fix the dreaded stripped crown/tube? I love my PO but never wear it anymore because I'm afraid I'll ruin it. Sucks too, b/c it's modded to teh gills. Superlume, gen hands, gen bracelet, gen rubber strap. the only thing I hadn't gotten around to was fixing the Omega logo on the dial.

  3. sorry to be off-topic, but is the only difference between the 27A and 28A the textured dial?

In my non-expert opinion, I believe the two biggest differences are the dial, which you pointed out, and the case finish: the 27 is polished, whereas the 28 is PVD. There certainly may be some other more technical differences that I'm not aware of.

  4. Thanks for all of your help. In the end, I decided on two straps as suggested, the above crazy horse and an OEM tantilum that I had laying around. When I get a chance, I will take some pics.

    Regards.

I hope to be going through your "dilemma" in a few weeks, as my 28A is in the EU for PVD service. Please post your pics if you get a chance. I'd love to see the finished product.

  5. There's a follow-up clip from NBC news on YouTube now. From a different comera angle you can clearly see that Bush pauses, puts his arm in front of his body, removes his watch and puts it in his pocket. Granted he does it quickly, but it's pretty obvious that that is what he's doing. Too bad though. The other scenario make a much better story.

It's really not a big deal, but I've seen the clip, and it was as plain as day to see that someone had the watch off his wrist while he was high-fiing the crowd, and I believe what I can see with my own eyes a lot more than I believe an 'official statement', particularly when that statement is contradicted by what I've seen, and I just don't understand how someone who had seen the footage, would swallow the 'official' version of events :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Hello to all. I'm new to the forum as of a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I found it doing research in response to being ripped off by a scam site. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I am one of the suckers that paid $895 for a so-called Grade 1 Swiss SS Daytona. When the subdials died on day 2, I returned it pursuant to the site's advertised 30-day money back guarantee, which I was subsequently informed is no longer company policy. So, now I don't even have a broken watch to show for my money and the guy will no longer answer my phone calls or e-mails. He just flat-out stole my money. I paid by credit card, so I may pursue a refund that way. Not sure, given the subject matter of the transaction. I could actually use some advice on that if anyone cares to chime in.

Anyway, I feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this site. I've picked up a ton of useful information in a short time and have also ordered a replacement GMT II from one of our recommended collectors. My plan is to stick around here and continue reading and learning (and shopping), so thanks in advance for all your help.

P.S. In case you're wondering what the big "D" is about. It's my self-imposed mark of shame--the "Scarlet D" for Daytona, or better yet Dumba$$. ;)
