  1. Good one!! The hands are the biggest challenge for a beginner IMO. Especially getting the plated chromed ones on without marks....
  2. Feels like 10.000 ... Is see you everywhere Congrats!
  3. The eagle has landed. Will be doing the tear down this Friday and posting the thread on Saturday. Stay tuned
  4. Thanks for the input. I would say the same if I did not bought this watch myself. Maybe there is a quality difference between sapphires? This is the version I bought: http://www.puretime.co/product/pam312-l-best-edition/ Or did they lie to us..... Again
  5. Some time ago I sold my precious 312L to a dear friend of mine. Today he calls me and tells me he has a rather large scratch on the crystal.... I was like: 'R U sure?'.... 'It's saphire'! Then he sends me some pics. How on earth did he manage this? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/295k582s6ouh4pp/1TSRXsI5It I'm thinking of buying this: http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=39 Don't know if the scratch is to deep though. Mark
  6. Now where is that damn watch????? ..... Probably a cheap shipping method
  7. Please excuse me for my strong language but I'm getting a little bit fed up with all the noobs lately. No, not because they are new and ask questions... Because they show NO courtesy. Off course I don't want to treat all noobs alike but l get the feeling it is getting worse. I (or other existing members) type, a sometimes extensive reply or explanation and not even a 'thanks' or 'thank you' will follow. Nothing..... The noob just asks questions like a mad man, want to gather all the info yesterday, wants to buy a rep like he is at WalMart, complains and bitches about the smallest details, asks mechanical help when in most cases he himself messes up a movement etc. without even the smallest regard for this board and it's members. And sometimes.... From all these noobs a valuable new member will arise who's soul purpose is not to leech this board and all it's members for what they know and have. I have seen some valuable new members the last months like MD2020 for instance and for that I applaud! And for all you other blood sucking noobs: think about the existing members that reply to you post. Without some courtesy and good manners you probably won't get any help next time you are in need.....
  8. Basically swiss and clones are on par when it comes to design and materials. It is finishing and assembly that differs. Asian movements are usually assembled in dirty environments and are oiled incorrectly (read no oil at all). Usually due to cutting back costs. A service can resolve this. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/146164-why-i-love-the-asian-7750-and-i-think-it-does-not-get-enough-credits/?hl=%20love%20%207750
  9. Great looking watches. Like the strap combo. What mistake does the case back hold?
  10. Sweet! If I may ask. What did this set you back?
  11. Indeed. In jouw geval "pritt buddies" gebruiken
  12. This is the result of a movement not being secured properly. Even if there is very little play it will course the dial to grind against the rehaut and eventually cause flaking...
  13. So you need to collect money back from a transaction that happened 2 years ago?????????
  14. As a note: Greasing rubbers does nothing for WR. Absolutely nothing! It merely protects the rubber compound and prolongs its lifespan. It's like MD said. The right thickness of gaskets and tollerances between e.g. crown and tube makes a watch either WR or not. I've seen rep Submariners with perfect thick crystals and pristine nylon gaskets, trip-lock crowns with 3 greased seals and in the end water came in trough the tube hole that was drilled into the case and where the tube is screwed in. At the factory they forgot to ad the rubber..... So unless you have the watch professionally tested you will never know for sure.
  15. You are kidding right? Please sell it to me and get out of the rep game!.. It is not for you.
  16. It's a nice watch but it can't beat the 42mm yellow Abyss....
  17. It has nothing to do with the quality of the gears. It has to do with the gear ratio. As a metaphor I will use a mountain bike. 1. Say you put the back in a high gear (big wheel) and the front in a low gear (small wheel). You can peddle very easily up a steep hill right... -->That's how they make it possible for the rotor to wind a powerful main spring very easily. 2. Now say you want to peddle up that same hill but you change gears the other way around (small in the back and big in the front). Going up that hill would almost be impossible giving the strength our legs can provide. Now if we hypothetically could mount a v12 Chevy block on the front gear and would give full throttle what would happen you think?.... You would strip the teeth (most probably on the big gear) as it is not calculated for that amount of torque. It's a matter of physics. -->That's exactly what happens on the 7750 if you hand wind it too fast. That's right... You can hand wind it all you want as long as you do is slow in order not to strip the teeth on the intermediate winding wheel (so low torque). Otherwise your hand wind will be like the Chevy V12 in my example. On over winding a 7750 I can be clear. That is simply not possible as the main spring has a bridle (slippage system) like all automatic watches. If the tension build up by the main spring gets too much the bridle will slip en thus letting off tension. Off course this only applies if the main spring and barrel walls are greased appropriately. It has nothing to do with the weight of the hand. Normally two issues can cause it. A poorly finished tilting pinion or a weak chrono second wheel tension spring. The stutter comes from the slack between the teeth of the gears. I have seen a lot of genuines with the same stutter on the chrono second hand (that's the hand you are talking about). With our reps it normally is the tilting pinion and the poorly finished teeth.. sometimes in combination with the spring. With genuines it almost always is the tension spring. But rest assure. I does not affect time keeping or reliability in any way. Do a search on google: "stutter second hand 7750 "
  18. Hi Pjl, Did you do a search? There are already a lot of threads about the Santos 100. There are different versions with different price tags. Each with his own flaws. A 100% 1:1 rep does not exist. So basically it all depends on your own acceptance of certain flaws. For me this one is the best although it still has certain flaws. http://www.puretime.co/product/santos-100-ss-white-dial-on-black-leather-strap-swiss-eta-2892/ There is no perfect version we can hand you on a silver platter Mark
  19. You need to remove the crystal. It is dropped in from the front.
  20. I get what you mean. You could say you are picking up a new hobby: photography, and want to do some 'lighting' exercises on his watch?.....
  21. Cool! And remember... Don't sweat the small stuff. It's a great watch and if you can't find more obvious flaws than the date wheel that should be good enough to wear it with much joy. Why go searching for flaws nobody but you (and some RWG nerds ) will ever notice and make yourself unhappy?
  22. Hi and welcome! Start here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/85981-hey-noobor-not-so-noobread-this-now/ There is an awful lot of info on this board. Make sure to use the 'search' button a lot in the beginning. Big chance that most questions about watches, dealers etc can be answered that way. Happy hunting Mark
