  1. I agree with Mike, she's been roasted enough, And while I believe the pain initially was self inflicted, and probably deserved, she has come around, apologized and will either hang around, contribute and become "one of the guys", or she will decide that this is not the place and move on. Entirely her choice.

To add another side to your post above about modifying genuine watches with genuine parts. I'm speaking from a different side of the equation, as most of my watches fall into the "Vintage" category, whereas yours are contemporary.

There has come a time with every watch manufacturer, outside of some of the very exclusive brands like Breguet and Patek, when they will no longer stock parts for their watches. We see this with the older vintage Rolex watches. Right now in order to repair a 1030 movement you have to find parts from another movement. Same with dials, some crystals are no longer available, so at some point, it's either a question of using aftermarket parts or the watch becomes a paperweight. So while your feelings about modified, but with genuine parts only, holds true for contemporary watches, it isn't always feasible with older vintage watches. If the choice of continuing to wear my 1665 or my 16750 comes down to using a generic crystal and wearing them , or putting the watches In my watch box forever, that answer is easy. I'm going to opt for the generic crystal. Rolex owners are very fortunate in that the watches are made in such large quantities, Yes Virginia, contrary to popular belief they are mass produced watches, there is a thriving aftermarket parts industry out there. So Rolex owners at least have a source of parts at least for most models. Try that on your Tag or even your Breitling when they are 40+ years old and they need hands or a Crown/tube or insert, even bracelets and clasps. I would bet that it would be next to impossible finding any parts, genuine or generic for most older watches. And if they aren't using a relatively common movement say an ETA, either stock or as a base movement, you can probably forget about finding a movement as well.

Thanks for your comment, though I'm definitely not a 'she' I'm a 'he' (Gary).

  2. yaaaawwwwnnn :angry2: he won't make any addition to this forum why do we keep entertaining this [censored] he is only here to mess about and has been on the drink  so now time to fook off and lets move on jesus i like a laff but he's going beyond a point

Why the negativity? I've apologised for the misunderstanding, let's all move on yeah?

  3. Golf dude - I would take your genuine bezel off the Daytona, buy another one, then PVD that secondary one. That way you preserve the integrity of your virgin genuine watch in the eyes of the ROLEX.

    Hi

I have bought a new genuine bezel as a 'spare' so I have this covered. Thanks though

  4. This genuine-nazi behaviour is kind of irritating...

The gen money you have given to some rich finance corporation to get a thing which, with all the probability, has a real value of less than a half what you paid for, will NOT make you a better person.

    Nazi behaviour????? Really?????

  5. GolfPunk, you know if you stick around you might learn some things and make some friends here.

Take a close look at the band on your Daytona. Are you sure someone didn't sell you a replica band? The color/tone of the steel is wrong and the end links don't fit the case properly.

See... that's the kind of knowledge you can gain here. With an open mind. I dare say there are people here who have forgot more about high end watches than most will ever learn.

It's white gold not steel but it is 100% genuine and not aftermarket.

  6. Members on here own all sorts of watches (lots of) genuine and "fake" as you put it.

We just enjoy watches and our friendly community don't look down our noses at people.

Jealousy is a very BAD word, you [censored] pack of brave hard [censored] hiding behind the Internet....you can't even afford a real watch... you must be proper [censored] thick????

FAKE WATCHES ARE FOR THICK SCUM BAGS WHO CANT AFFORD A GOOD WATCH BECAUSE THEYRE TOO THICK TO GET A DECENT JOB.

    Brave aren't you????

This sort of behaviour just makes you look like an ill informed idiot.

We have doctors, lawyers and fighter pilots on here amongst every other profession and we are not all 'thick scum bags' who are 'too thick to get a decent job'

If you haven't been banned already please take the time to read through the forums and perhaps you will change your bigoted view of the world.

    best of luck

    Hi

My apologies...I was responding solely to the few posters who started abusing me.

I removed the offensive post but obviously not quick enough

  7. But I would like to say that you are not on the right place. This is a nice forum for friendly people who appreciate each other and respect each other, no matter what kind of watch you wear, how many cars you own or how much money you make.

So if you would be so kindly, get your ass out of here.

Read the thread, I did not start the abuse
