  1. Does it still have blue screws ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Good call. I think the "feet" of the roman numerals on the Rep, save for numerals II, III, IV and V are thicker than the ten, thus the way one number joins the other to form a numeral looks far thicker on the rep than the gen. Every feet is thicker on the rep. this is a great way to tell!
  3. Good morning! @panerai153: I meant aluminium on the Bezel's Insert! @highoeyazmuhudee and gemballa: Thank you ! Will definitively be very wary. He hasn't provided the watch yet, will be interesting once that happens and will keep the thread updated! Have a good day my friends! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for all the valuable contributions! Will let you know when I actually examine the watch and will first post pictures and then decide. Its interesting how this is going to develop! thanks my friends!
  5. Yeah I see him every day, I don't think he would like to scam me by selling me a fake pretending to be a gen, BUT he claims not to have any papers and thus he can't pawn it, what I fear is that it may be a stolen gen. If he confesses its stolen, I wouldn't buy anyways cause I can't sell it or maybe even worse, I can have the police being sent my way if I take it to an AD and they look at the serial. I think they may have a database with that kind of info. YES I WILL post pictures when he lets me see it. If he agrees for me to take it to an AD then it means its not stolen or fake and he may really need the cash, if that is so I will offer $2000 instead of the 1K he's asking for just to help him out. On the other hand it CAN be a super rep and he MAY NOT genuinely know.
  6. Hello, I have a co-worker who is showing me (this week) some of his "supposedly" gen rolex watches and wants to sell me one, he claims he is in dire need of cash. So he's telling me he sells me his Rollie Sub aluminium 16610 (used of course) for a cheap price, $1000 USD, which is ridiculous because on chrono24 the cheapest 2nd hand 16610s go for $4000 USD. I don't knw why but he seems like a little deceptive, maybe the watches are stolen or something or are super reps, that doesn't make much senses because for the price he's selling you barely can buy a super rep like a franken TC Sub v6. I know the common tells between a super rep like a TC Sub V6 vs a Gen 16610,but what about a franken super rep, like a TC Sub V6 with franken bezel/insert and crystal/crown. Are there "common" tells to distinguish between a gen 16610? He claims he can't have the watch opened because he doesn't have the time to take it to an AD to have it identified as gen, but the will let me look at it even through a loupe. I know that its supposed to have a gen 3135 movement, so if I play the crown to set the date / time etc I will know if its an ETA or a 3135 (could be a yuki 3135 though!) by watching the hands movements CW/CCW in respect to the crown movements, but the concrete question, Are there any other less known tells, like the hand stack? I have read somewhere about this but can find the information and haven't been able to find anything despite a through and time consuming research on google and all the other forums. I don't want to expend cash on a super rep pretending to be a gen! I'd rather knw its a super rep and decide to buy it -or not- as I already have a TC Sub V6 with a gen insert. Thank you very for reading and I would appreciate your help! Best regards
  7. Amazing work!! Did you guys noticed puretime is selling a new highly decorated "1:1" SA3135 V3? It has the decorated rotor and bridge. I know the movement itself is bad, but could be source of decorated parts to put upon the Y3135, what do you guys think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Dear occb2: Yes ! I remember having read the story about you being a detective and all! congratulations! Thank you SO much for contributing on this less-known area of rep knowledge, I love how you posted a pic of all the parts you consider are A MUST to change on a y3135 in order for it to run for years without a problem. Could you please label them so us the newbies can start getting familiar with the names and start looking on ebay for them? Thanks again!
  9. occb2: Wow!! So OCCB2 = Obsesive compulsive... what more? still need CB2 haha Thank you so much for the prompt and complete answer. I don't have much funds to start and don't even own my first rep yet, BUT IM SAVING!! so I think I will do as you suggested and get a 11610 TC sub first, and then start by buying a Y3135 and sending to misi to franken it to a even better Y3135 so it will be a keeper and reliable watch, as you say its still $1000 way from the gen R3135! I don't want to hijack the thread but could you suggest what other are must have mods for the TC? apart from the gen insert? I think the Gen xtal is not that "high yield", right? would you also send to have it made "waterproof"? any other thing you could think? I wand to buy this for my dad's birthday, he is a rolex enthusiast but had to sell his two vintage ones because of economic issues. my ultimate goal is to have one 16610 LN for him and one for me, both TC versions with some gen insert and franken Y3135, that would be so awesome!! I hope someday not too far I can do this! Just wish I had more cash right away haha
  10. occb2: Thanks for the review. These questions are for occb2 and any other member that wants to help: Right now Im frankening' (is that the correct term? haha) my TC Sub V6, I have been chatting with some expert members and I wanted to put in the yuki 3135 movement instead of the TC "default" movement (the TC-ETA 2824-2 "Elabore" grade) ? is there any advantage to it? This is what I think, I have gathered this from reading around here and one RWI , etc. 1) you have to service the yuki right away and add to the cost the watch smith's fees. 2) if it breaks down you can't source yuki parts so you have to use gen parts and those are expensive 3) some users say that right away (before it even breaks) you have to change some parts that are inherently bad from the start (I don't know which parts) Why do I want to put in the yuki 3135? because I like the day the rolex 3135 movement works, and I would like the crown and hand movement ,as we ll as date adjustment to be exactly like the gen 3135 movement, as I've read that with other movements the hands move in the opposite direction, the date changes at another time different thant the rolex 3135, etc. I hope someone can help me with this. 1) Does the yuki 3135 offer an advantage over any of the other movements like clone, swiss, TC elabore? 2) what movement would you ideally put in besides the actual genuine rolex 3135 if you wanted functionality and a smooth and nice operation? thank you all!! may you all have a great weekend!
  11. Hey,I've a Rep franken YM 16622 coming in soon, its got a sean case as well as a sean bracelet, I want to Gen-franken the bracelet, I saw one on ebay, genuine, SS from 1997, model 78350 Z9.Another question, do you know if ANY other bracelet rolex model will fit the 16622? the original is 78760 but there are a lot other similar ones, just don't know if some other other than 78760 would fit.I hope someone can give me some insights, thank you! Sorry for the weird background, I posted this also on RWI first and copy pasted and it came out like this haha thank you to all!
  12. Dear Rep fellow enthusiasts: Sorry for the noobery! After going through the FAQ and Intro/rule threads i am still not sure whats the difference on VIP vs platinum upgrades... Thank you!
  13. Hahaha at 30 Im far from a kid, and yes will wander around, and try not to get too enthralled on the subtleties of the reps , frankens, mods, etc! I concur, this is like a massive toy R Us for grown ups, where one gets to be a kid again, and regain some capacity to wonder =)
  14. I know this is an old post and don't plan on resurrecting the thread, but I just wanted to tell you that I can relate to you on many levels. I see you've been here for now almost 3 years! time keeps passing by so fast! What can I say, I joined yesterday after months of passive reading "i.e a lurker" but I too learnt the distinction between BEING vs Having. Thanks for the story, hope your health is well now.
  15. hahaha thanks Legend! Thanks for having me and for the kind words, I USED to be an Omega person myself, but after looking at the quality of the Rollies, well, what can I say, I really admire the craftsmanship and the attention to detail these watches have, and the reps are truly super reps!
  16. Awesome information, a great repository to start from and well organised, thanks for the effort!
