  1. Lenno? Is that the one with the big chin?
  2. When Rolex introduced the Tudor to the market as a second brand, they made every effort to ensure that it was not perceived as a second rate brand as it was, and is not. Inferior, uncaring service is for third rate watches, and customers, who in the end always end up placing more demands on your time, and lowering others' perception of your business more than they would ever be willing or able compensate you for. Just say no to swish and dip...
  3. Tourbillons by their nature are not very shock resistant.
  4. Not only is the indice at 6 crooked... The minute hand is not in sync with the seconds hand it is about 40 seconds behind AND the hour hand is ahead about a minute (already past half way while still isn't "7:30" yet...) The DAY is high with the I in FRI being crooked, while the DATE is almost centered... BTW was the chrono running, or is IT off by 1.75 seconds as well?
  5. DuDro, I have a spare after market T19 that you can have, if you want it... just like the one on my "ugly sub"
  6. Simple... Oldest gets the platinum.
  7. I am pretty sure I know of a 'skinny' vintage Gen antique for sale, well below that figure.... And I might just have a thin 40 year old 'dive' watch laying around that could go for much less....
  8. Unfortunately Nuq, the pic Alli posted is about as close as anyone is likely to ever see again... the original acrylic encapsulated radium pearls were mostly phased out, and even replaced on watches before they were sold due to increasing radiation awareness in the late 50's & early 60's... it is easier to find a certificate that the particular watch has been checked for radiation from the local AD, by the local (country) gov't assay office than it is to find this true "gem"... Of course, if anyone ever comes across an old vial of radium paint... remember it goes IN the acrylic, not ON it...
  9. Very nice to see this come together. The watch would be more correct from a collector standpoint with the radium acrylic pearl, but even the vast majority of Gens have had them replaced by factory.
  10. The 6540 is the RAREST SUBMARINER EVER (Royal Navy SBS, only 21 of them), and the rest are Tudor Subs...
  11. Gen Quartz Mid-size... goes for about $1400 new right now... wouldn't bid more than $700 used... or more than half of that without a decent movement pic...
  12. Almost Perfect.
  13. Serviced? As in complete? With a spankin' new engraved 3/4 plate without that alarm gear hole?
  14. Yes, Welcome Bishop, and welcome the family... I am glad for you that you won't be waiting as long as I had to for your 'take down' surgery... by the time I had mine, believe it or not, I was remembering the days when I could actually wear the 'appliance' fondly... it definitely was not a pleasant experience to have to tape a diaper to that raw basket ball growing out of the bottom of my gut... but, now things are better, most of the accumulated, misplaced fat is finally going away, and I haven't had any new issues with my colon... still way out of shape, and a nice big rip in the middle of my gut that needs repair, but, I have a decent paying job now, and it happens to be with a company that is specifically geared to employing people with disabilities, even though the job isn't easy, it is a good one. Everyone here did help me get through a tremendous crisis when I was hurt, and I will be forever grateful for that... things are still rough, but at least I am working again, this time for a company that actually seems to be concerned for me. We are not out of the woods yet... still have some stormy skies, but a bit better equipped to handle them now. Thanks again everyone for your concern and support. And, did I tell you guys I love you today?
  15. Yeah, 105 is my minimum... I prefer something around 115-125 depending on how thick the strap is.. The only strap I tolerate with the nasty side buckle effect is the XL 11" NATO's which barely have any tail left to make it to the second keeper on me, and I don't like them much... One of these days I'll have to get GGB to hook me up with a "properly spaced" 14" NATO...
  16. Too short on the 'top side', when your wrist is over 9 inches, the buckles tend to end up on the side of your wrist, which isn't comfortable (and just doesn't look right)... adding most of the extra length to the 'tail' doesn't help... don't know why strapmakers don't get that... Still, that is a very nice looking strap.
  17. I doubt that there was ever one made large enough to fit me... and you guys think TT has big wrists... ask him about mine... Of course, if there IS a 145/105 1st Gen Crazy Horse floating around out there somewhere...
  18. B E A UTIFUL Strap! Doubt I will ever have/find one to fit me... And a guess as to new strap maker sample - R---W----- ?
  19. oooooo Angelus 240... I wonder what project you have in mind... I would call it an intermediate wheel, or intermediate coupler wheel... as it appears to be in line with and therefore a part of the keyless works... probably between the castle wheel and the transmission wheel, possibly designed a bit differently to be more sturdy to help transfer power to the stronger mainspring without damage... but I can't be sure, as every one of these movements I bid on seems to go way out of my price range for some strange reason ... so, I never got to "tear into" one... and I have never seen a diagram or chart on this 'rare' movement either...
  20. Says the guy who has dropped a couple tons on testing said watches rather thoroughly.... I say, take his word for it... after you go to the local battery changer and have him pressure test your particular watch. K?
  21. The machine learned long ago how to ensure that every piece it produces is sold (by whatever means) and that the actual production is always perceived as lower than the demand.
  22. A dead straight shot of the the gold wheel with the hair spring that goes back and forth really fast... the spring on the jewel is what is in question... so no fuzzy, if at all possible...
  23. Heh... then my "vintage" brain recalibrated it's self (working nights is kind of messing with me...) and I remembered the new Novodiac setup (Incabloc)... which does look a bit like KIF and Seiko Diashock (which is a whole other ball of wax about the old arguments about what is better and why does Rolex use "inferior" KIF, but ...eh) and realized that, hey... those things have probably made their way into the new production 2824-2's by now... and if the unmarked clone is using Novodiac... then these just might be "real" Swiss, in that it was produced at the closed Chinese ETA facilities... You must have been replying while I was reorganizing my thoughts... Anyway... ETA did/does(?) produce this movement in exactly this level of decoration/material... perhaps with Novodiac now... except that they are hallmarked, and the rotor does have ETA markings across the Geneva Stripes as well... So... there's my conspiracy theory... ETA left all in place when they 'closed the factory', and the old workers are still churning them out... just a different looking cut/finish on the wheels... so perhaps, just as Swiss as recent Swiss without the "assembled in Switzerland" part... especially if the spring is Novodiac. Am I making any sense these days?
  24. Actually, there is NO decoration or machining on the movement below the balance where you should see the movement number and ETA hallmark... and even if there were, the damascening takes off nearly 0 material... more like burnishing the surface with a fiberglass pen... ain't even gonna hide scratches... the Geneva stripes take off marginally more, but not enough to obliterate any stamping on the rotor... you can check out Ofrei's watch kit for what a 2824-2 in this level of finish and presumed adjustment...
