  1. I just received a very nice Ladies Tag Link from Andrew and am well pleased with everything about the transaction. The model I ordered is the Stainless with light blue MOP dial and diamond markers. It is a very stunning elegant ladies sport watch. My lady friend was very impressed with the beauty and quality. The bracelet is extremely well made and the dial is quite unique and lovely. The blue changes shades and colors under different lights and at different angles. I also like the fact that it is a quartz movement. My experience is that women like quartz better than automatic or hand wind movements. I know that's a generalization, but one made from wide experience. As always Andrew's communication and service were outstanding. It is truly a pleasure to work with him. If you are looking for a very nice sport watch at a good price for a lady in your life, you cannot go wrong with this model from the Trusty Watch Guy, Andrew.

  2. Dr. King was presented with the Gold Rolex when he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

My cousin bought the exact same watch in 1967 in Hong Kong while he was there on R & R from Viet Nam. He paid about $2,000 for his-a fortune back then. I always lusted for it. It was my inspiration for getting into Reps. I should have studied harder like he did...or won a Nobel Prize like Dr. King But then, I wouldn't have gotten to know all of you Replica Guys.

  3. Regarding tools-a few years back I purchased one of those Swiss Army type knives that is designed for watch repairs and adjustments. It was advertised in one of the common Watch Magazines. I think I paid about $100 for it. Anyway, it has some very small screw driver heads which worked well on the Nautilus Bracelet.

  4. I just read that OJ Simpson has been ordered by a judge to turn over his "Rolex" Watch to Fred Goldman, the father of the man he supposedly murdered. OJ has said that he paid $125 for the Submariner and has handed it over to his attorney for delivery to Goldman. The lawyer was quoted as saying, "if it's a fake, it's a good fake." My bet is that it is a fake, but not a very good one.

  5. It's a pity the glove wouldn't fit over his head.....a surgical glove......the sooner somebody takes a 4lb mash hammer to the back of his skull ....it still won't be quick enough...the man ( and I use that word only because he posesses dangly bits)....is a narcissistic sociopathic oaf......somebody should give him some juice....preferably about 50,000 volts....!

Gee Neil, don't sugar coat it. If you don't like the guy, just come out an say so.

  6. thanks mate for the reply.. if you dont mind can u pls summarize this silix version story? i'm really really sorry.. but my internet is capped atm (so my speed goes down to 24k... 1/2 of the speed of normal dial up).. so it takes around 10-15 mins to open one page.. if i try to open every single thread about VCOi would be here for days :(.. so that's why i'm asking for help.. i apologize once again.. but yes.. if you can summarize it for me... about the latest silix version i would really appreciated...

ok 1 flaw that i heard is

    - the AR (which i don't really care)

    - the date font

    - the endlinks (not fitted properly) and also the bracelet is loose fitted

    - the cross

are these things fixed in silix' latest version? and wats the flaw on that one? again i apologize :(

If those are your concerns then buy the Silix version. I have had one for over a month and it is my new favorite. You won't be disappointed.

  7. so you are saying they shouldn't have made the steel fish or the evolution? i don't understand your comment. we shouldn't look for an accurate rep?

Personally, I think the Steel Fish and Evolution are ugly watches. But I am not a Breitling fan.

On the other hand my latest and upgraded Black VCO rep with an ETA movememt is beautiful. IMHO. It may not be a perfect rep, but I can certainly live with the one visible flaw-the shiny numbers (which aren't all that shiney, just not brushed). The accent mark over the second E in Geneve is a non starter to me because it is not visible without a magnifying glass. For less than $280, it's a bargain.

So I would rather have a rep of a beautiful watch that is 95-98% accurate than a 100% accurate rep of a watch that I personally don't think is attractive.

  8. VCO surely is a beauty. But don't you dare ever to touch the screws, no matter are those on the caseback or those on the bracelet. 99% of the screw head are stripped and stuck. You can easily kill the heads while unscrewing and you are done as that screw will stuck inside forever. Resizing the bracelet is a nightmare. I have killed the bracelet already while resizing, bearing in mind I used professional Swiss made screwdrivers to do the job and still failed. The screws are simply so fragile and vulnerable.

Another issue is the polished area on breaclet between the links is 100% coarse. Silky mirror finish jsut does not exist. This is one of the most painful eye-catching part of the watch.

I am now on my second new and upgraded Black Dial VCO from Silix. I purchased it soon after reading the extensive Trhead started by Richard Tracy last month. My first one died because of moisture that somehow seeped into the dial and movement. I believe it was caused by a defective screw down crown that was discussed by Austin and me in another Thread. Jay replaced my dead VCO very quickly and it has been running flawlessly for 10 days.

Regarding the screws, my experience varied between the two different watches. The first one had to be re-sized by my local watch repair guy. When I had problems with the movement he took the back off and that too was a struggle. He wasn't able to get it running again, but he did confirm that the movement was an ETA 2824, just as advertised.

When I received the replacement from Jay, I was able to re-size the bracelet using my cheap old tools-no problem for a rank amature. So I guess this screw problem can depend on the particular watch.

As far as the mirror finish goes, mine is at least 95% spot on. The end pieces are perfect. The polished parts between the links are excellent on the wide sections that you see when looking down at the watch on your wrist. When I take it off and look at it closely with the naked eye the finish is still silky smooth. When I take the watch off and closely examine it at the center polished parts, some of them are a little rough while others are smooth. Of the 17 links, only 5 show any roughness at all. The good news is that you do not notice these while the watch is on the wrist. Like I said they are only noticeable when the watch is off and inspected under a direct light.

Note: this is th every latest upgraded model VCO and cost me $278 shipped via EMS, so maybe the old saying about "getting what you pay for" applies here.

One other observation, I expected it to look larger. I think that is because I am used to the thicker sport and diver watches like Panerai, IWC and Rolex Subs and Daytonas. The case on the VCO is substantially thinner that those watches. My first impression wasn't a similarity to a Citizen, but rather a Seiko-mainly because of the thin case. But make no mistake, whether it's your cup of tea or not, this is a truly outstanding replica and my 30+ other watches have just stayed in their display boxes since this one arrived.

  9. My screws took lubrication and the proper tools to get them out, but nothing that destroyed

    or damaged anything.

I was however prepared for it, which made all the difference.

Then again there is always the mall watch band people, who never seem to have trouble

as long as you prep them and let them know that you want the band and screws to remain

    in top form.

I removed a link in mine with minimal hassel. My tools and skills are very average.

  10. Do you still see strips on the polish surface between the links. Or they are silky smooth mirror finish? This is the critical part for the bracelet to escape from fake appearance.

To my eyes, the surface between the links looks pretty darn smooth. I guess if I used a magnifying glass or a loop I might tbe able to see some "roughness" but I choose not to do that. 99.9% of the population of the world wouldn't notice...IMHO.

  11. But the polish part on the bracelet has such corase finish stops me from wearing it anymore. Anyone can tell it is fake straight away as VC simply cannot have such a poor craftmanship.

Or is there an updated/improved rep. VCO bracelet on the market. But then the question is if it will fit the VCO ver.2 case.

I have the latest upgraded model from Silix. There are minor differences between this model and the one sold by Andrew and Josh, but I believe the bracelets are the same. There is a huge thread in the Other Brands Area started by Richard Tracy that goes into significant detail on the various VCO models.

The bracelet on mine is beautiful. The brushed finish is great. The mirror finish between the links and on the ends is also excellent. The clasp is spot on. I don't know if you can purchase the new bracelet or if it would fit your watch. The newest version is 42mm some of the older ones are 38mm. You might be better off buying a new watch. I think you'll be very pleased.

  12. Ask your dealer how it should be shipped.

That is good advice. The dealer knows what is best for them.

Over the years I have returned about 5 watches to China. I usually use the good old USPS and send it the cheapest way because I have found that most dealers send their replacements cheapo too. It usually takes about 10 days or so, but if the dealer knows you, he might send the replacement before receiving the defective watch-it's worth asking. The last one I returned cost me aobut $8.50 to ship and I got a tracking number that was good through customs. I put "return of gift" on the customs form. So far for me it hasn't been a big deal. Good luck.

  13. There seem to be quite a few different versions out there and the prices are all over the place. But real ceramic and not coated is a must have. If its for a female then a quartz movement is a must, girls just don't get the appeal of automatic movements that stop if they aren't worn. Trust me...

Incidentally hollywood hottie Jessica Biel was photographed wearing one of these over the last few days. She was FHM's sexiest woman in the world a year or two back.

You are correct about quartz being the movement of choice of the female persuasion. It's taken my wife a few weeks to realize that I don't have to re-set hers every time she takes it out of her jewelry box.

Jessica Biel? That's pretty cool. I'll have to look fo rthe pic. I think Hillary Clinton also wears one. My wife's a big fan, so that too got me some points.

BTW, have you seen what the genuine J12 Quatrz models cost? $4,000 for the standard model and $8,000 for the diamond bezel! The $200 diamond bezel rep from Andrew or Josh is a real beauty.

  14. It's interesting that you mention the Overseas. That is one of my favourite watches. I tried on a gen at Torneau in Las Vegas last year and fell in love with it. At 10,600usd the gen is about 5k out of my justifiable price range. I've looked into the rep (Josh's improved version) but I seem to remember reading some negative feedback on the clasp. I've had some bad luck with a replica dual deployant myself, so I've been a bit hesitant. Overall though, the Overseas is a beautiful piece and is still on my list.

If you want info on the latest VC Overseas models, check out the various threads in the Other Brands Section. The one on Silix'x New VCO by Richard Tracy is extensive and full of good info. I have the new latest upgraded model from Silix and I love it.

  15. Thank you a great deal for the information Lefty and it really helps to network on these things. Mine is going back today. The stem is inconsistent in locking down after setting the time. Sometimes it will lock right down in about six turns, other times it won't lock down at all. It is "squirrelly" and does something different every time I set the time, which is quite frequently now that I am checking it out. It will even bind up and appear to be locked down when it is not.

Your moisture problem sounds related to the crown not sealing as well. It may not have an O-ring but is should seal a lot better than that. I would imagine the crown being seated correctly or not locking down are causing both problems.

I will let you know if I have any other challenges and please do the same.

Glad to have been of help. So far (6 hours) so good, with the replacement VCO. I will keep close tabs on it and report my findings.

  16. Mine is a little strange. It does have a screw down crown but it only catches it at the very end and then it locks down. At the end it won't turn anymore. It stays there fine. To set time I only unwind counterclockwise a couple of turns and it pops out.

My other screwdown crowns you must screw counterclockwise a long way before the stem pops out. After poping it back in you then have to screw clockwise a long way. This one is real short and sweet.

Is this how the rest are? This VC looks great and is looking to be my best time keeper out of eight rep watches so far.

    Austin,

I think you should be careful with your VCO. I received a new updated model about a month ago and the screw down crown had the same characteristics you describe. I wore it every day for a week and had it checked out by my local watch repair guy-all was perfect. We thought nothing of the screw down crown. Then suddenly one evening I had moisture under the crystal even though it had never been under water, worn in the shower or anything of the sort. The next morning the watch stopped and would not run at all.

I contacted the dealer and arranged a return. The replacement VCO arrived today and the screw down crown catches right away and turns about 6 times before it is totally locked down.

This could be just coincidence, and I don't want to be an alarmist, but I felt it was best to warn you to be aware of the possibility. Good luck.

  17. Ari has one on the show....I guess I have to have one...lol. Serously I love his character.

I'm with you. I'm in for the "Ari Gold" model. It would have to be gold though. His name ins't Ari Stainless, is it? Seriously, I rairly wear the same watch two days in a row, and only wear gold watches when I'm dressed up, so I've never had any problems with gold plating wearing off. If they do a good job plating, I don't see the problem. To my eyes, there is a lot of varience in golds anyway, except for Ari Gold, that is. He's the real deal. This would be a fitting rep.
