  1. Yeah, like I said, it's not an everday event, but there is the chance. That is all. I think you misunderstood. I said that the shop will not touch an Asian 7750. The price was for a genuine 7750. I agree with you again, that you are probably the best person for the job. I just wanted to know "other" options. I thank you sincerely for all the help you have given to the rep community. Sadly, it still remains that I cannot contact you, or get in to the limited time window for you to service my watch. If that were not a problem, then I wouldn't need to look elsewhere. But those two things alone, nevermind price, have me looking elsewhere. My PM still works and I would love for you and I to talk about getting my Daytona serviced.
  2. The issue of sending it past customs. I have sent many an item out of the country and (knock on wood) only one had any problems. But there is always that chance, and even more so when dealing with replica goods. That's the problem, they won't touch an Asian 7750. Furthermore it's like $150. Which is around half of what you charge when you figure in shipping. I am very glad you posted here and I would like to use you. I just can never "get in" to your limited time frames for open business. Plus I just wanted to see my other options. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me here. You don't have PM status, so on top of not being able to "get in" I can't even get started.
  3. I know The Zigmeister is the man, but there is the issue of customs both ways. Furthermore, I know that a gen 7750 can be service for almost half of what he is asking for his Asian 7750 service. So "more reasonable", would mean less.
  4. A while ago I bought one of my all time favorite watches, a 2005 Daytona. For the first few weeks it ran like a champ. Then I put it away for a while, due to wearing my PAM's. But now it is running very poorly. I can hear the rotor whining (like when metal squeaks on metal). So I know I need to get it serviced to have it running properly again. So the question comes to all of you. Is there anyone who is reliable who works on these Asian 7750's BESIDES The Zigmeister? I know The Zigmeister could do it, but I am looking for someone stateside or at the very least a little more price reasonable. I know in the end I may just have to bite the bullet, but for now I would like to see my options. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  5. Two words : Pad Printer That is pretty much all you will need. About a year or so ago, I looked into this very issue. I got a couple of responses, but nothing definite. The problem is that no one wants to take apart their 111H for scanning or any other gen for that matter. So we are stuck with pictures that may or may not be at a slant, have poor lighting, etc. Then there is the issue of which dial to reproduce. The reason I went after the 111H is because it seems the most popular. But hardly got any response so I dropped the issue. All you really need is a place that laser cuts, and a pad printer. You could make 1:1 dials all day long. I had 5 or 6 places ready and willing to do the cutting, as there were no logo or brands, just the numbers. And to buy a pad printer (a good one) is around $600. So for around $1000 you could have 100 or so 1:1 dials. So the issues are: 1. getting a good scan 2. which dial you want to produce 3. the start up money

    PAM 183G

Well that may be true for the movement, but the dial looks sandwich to me. But I do not know my Radiomir's so well. I thought that the H series was the one that started the sandwich dial. Do you have a better shot of the movement? It looks different than the one Flav has in his pics. But it may just be the pictures.

    PAM 183G

    I don't think that is a 183G. It looks more like a 183H.
  8. xlr8tn, do you go by another name on other forums??
  9. No worries. You could always just print out the postage online and then all you have to do is drop off the box at a Post location. No lines, no wait, no mess. You can even get your own delivery person to come and pick it up at your door for free!!
  10. WOW lanikai, that is a lot of different ones. You and I have talked and you know I love my cigars!! habanodirect is not the best place to buy them from though. But I am glad it worked out for you jojo.
  11. Hey, I didn't say it sucked. It's just there are things to learn or do better at. I do not claim to know all or be perfect myself, so what I give is my experience. First, learn how to saddle stitch. This goes a long way in stitching leather, strap or not. Secondly, make sure to skivve down the areas where the lugs will go, or else the strap will rub against the case and be very difficult to fit. Thirdly, finish your edges. Some people do like the raw look, but finished edges look good all the time. Even if you still want to keep a bit of the raw look, burnish the edge a bit so as not to look like two pieces of leather just put together. There are other things, but these 3 should help a lot. And in doing them you will most likely "fix" the other problems as well.
  12. For first effort it looks good. There are a number of things I could mention that would kick it up a notch, but if you are just making these for yourself, then what you have done should suffice. If you want me to go over the "other" things. Let me know, I'll be happy to let everyone in on the strap making secrets ROFL.
  13. I stopped reading at the bold part!! LOL 4 Angelus movements??? How? Anyways, yeah the picture is off. The correct spacing is 8.2mm. Find a movement, it will be repped. End of discussion.
  14. Here is Davidsen's response to the question: So you can see he came to same conclusion as I did. The automatic is really the only option right now. If you can find another movement that would work I know for a fact, DSN would build it.
  15. I was very serious about getting this watch repped a few months ago. I had the factories all lined up and the investment money too. The problem is not the case, rotating bezel, size or any other cosmetic thing. The biggest problem and the one that shut down the project for me was the movement. The spacing for the 6497 is incorrect and would make it look awful to how it is supposed to look. The original movement is the only movement that will "work" in this configuration. I believe DSN was going to rep this model as well, but that was his pitfall too. The movements available will not give the correct spacing for the subdial. My only option was to freeze the second hand, but no one really liked that idea.
  16. I was not speaking about dealers. They will either stay the same or slightly go up. I am talking about used sellers. It seems people wait for opportunities like these to pass off their $150 watch for double to some newb who wants a rarer watch.
  17. Well this is not good for those who will want to buy a Ti Pam in the future. The price of bulk Titanium has gone up and the equipment to CNC it is very expensive to keep in running condition. I think with those two factors alone it would cause the Chinese to rethink the market. As an aside, the movements have been going to the Asian ETA for quite some time now. I tried to warn people about it, but no one was having it. The dealers are to blame there. They did not put pressure on the factories to stop selling them clones which they pass on to the consumer as ETA. Furthermore, imo Panerai as a company has gotten a little greedy. They took their gen customer base and crushed them. A person who could/would afford the $3-$6,000 model have been pushed back to make way for the $20-50,000 models. Now that's not to say that other companies that did the same are doing poorly (Patek, Vacheron, etc), but they understand that they lose a good percentage of base customers when they charge these ridiculous prices. So when you lose the base customers you lose a lot of interest. Omega is a great example of a very high quantity seller who has not lost site of what/who makes them great. Lastly, with the Ti models rare, look forward to price gougers. I have seen this time and time again, and this certain to bring out a few people who want to make a quick buck.
  18. You can still remove scratches with a cape cod cloth. Especially with polished cases. Just take and press harder and polish a bit longer.
  19. The best method is to make sure to use a proper screwdriver for the job. Make sure it just fits in the opening. Too small of a head and the screwdriver will tend to slip around. Too large and you risk the same problem or widening the hole. Now that's not to say you can't ever use either of these "other" screwdrivers. It just means that if you are starting out, get the proper size one. Then when you get more skilled you can use other ones or even a paperclip in a pinch.
  20. Well since I got number one already, I'll guess 990 for number 2.
  21. 1. this model of ship that was in the room of attended of the veccha Panerai and it had a control panel to singly turn on all the lights that were produced by Panerai. quoted by Ferretti Francesco. The pic was taken in Paci's house. From what I can gather most if not all the pieces are fakes. I can provide more info, but that should suffice 2. 1111
  22. What do you mean by GPF style? People have been using this term loosely. So your defintion may be different than someone else's. Also, what sizes do you need?
  23. That's freaking nutz to pay that for a beaver tail strap. Especially one in black. What is TC selling his for?? And I believe the one Estaban has was bought used from RWI, correct? I have always wanted to work with beaver tail, but I am limited to two colors right now. Burgundy and Black. I could get a lot more colors, but I have to buy like 10 tails. Not sure if demand was that high.
