  1. Ya 180 would be more like it. I'd snatch up the next 42mm PO in a heartbeat without any question for 180 bucks. some of us don't have fat wrists man. I measured and that 45mm would look very clumsy on me, possibly even nerdy. Too big. My steelfish is already bad enough.
  2. Yeah I have a HUGE doubt that it will have the globe on the back. It might have the serial number this time. But I have never seen a rep caseback with globe. They also need to fix the engraving on the caseback. The gen doesn't have PLANET OCEAN engraved. It is stamped into the metal. I have a cheaper rep that was done this way. Also happy feet fix, that is somewhat doubtful that they will fix either. I am guessing that most of the watches produced now use dials coming from the same places, just assembled in different factories. It will probably end up being the same ol same ol Porrika style dial with happy feet that we are all used to seeing even on 4th generation PO and "Sead" which nobody has pointed out if the Sead is different than the 4th gen yet, just that the price was kind of inflated. Most dealers used to charge $200-$235 for the 4th generation PO. I ended up getting a deal off of silix when those were still made but regretted that deal. The one I currently own came from Ruby and is fine. Just um, never send a watch back to her for repair you will be sorry that you did. Double AR.. I'd rather have the other flaws fix than fuss about something that could be later coated onto the crystal if it mattered that much. Double AR versus single AR is definitely not a glaring flaw to me.
  3. Sead's PO looks to me like a 4th generation PO with $120 worth of markup added on top of it to me then. I have seen no differences. Maybe it has something that I can't see with the naked eye in photos though. I heard of a "5th generation" that supposedly had flat feet. This Sead version looks like hoarded old stock to me but I could be partially wrong. It's basically a rep watch that never cost a great deal of money to manufacture. Price will be up to the factory then I guess and hopefully won't be limited to cartels. I never pay much over $200 for a rep of a watch, it starts to get absurd. And especially in this economy. You could tuck that money away in a bank for a while and use it to fund a gen if it gets that outrageous. But $450 for a rep of <insert any watch here> I won't buy.
  4. Single AR is fine with me. I could do with the single AR and having flat feet on the Omega logo. That would be great to me. Hopefully it is below $250 including shipping like the previous one was.
  5. lanikai what's the difference between this and the one Silix is selling? different factory this time?
  6. I love that watch. Did it come with glidelock? I'm thinking of selling my 21j and buying one.
  7. White is a luxury color. I most definitely prefer IWC in white. Patek Philippe, Rolex, and some others too. I like rolex gold daydate president with white dial as well. Tried to talk my coworker into getting it but he felt the white dial was boring and opted for one that was LITERALLY covered in diamonds but then swapped it out for an uglier purple dial with diamond markers. I have had my eye on a couple solid gold rolex with white dial, not that I would really buy it anyway. I like my white turn o graph quite a lot. It was the first turn o graph I bought and the first gen I ever held at an AD. I will probably end up buying one some day because there's so many choices, that would narrow it down and make it a very simple purchase. Plus a used one costs less than half what the AD wanted so it is a pretty good bargain. Or I could save up more and plunk down 9 grand on a daydate with white dial. So glad I have visited AD. Oh and breitling white dial? only on the larger ones bentley, etc not the smaller ones..doesn't do a thing for me. those should be black or blue usually. and those rolex above? those don't do anything for me no matter what color. explorer and daytona... not my cup of tea.
  8. Sead's appears to be identical to the 4th generation PO so it'd be more accurate to say that is what it is I guess unless he fixed anything. I'm having trouble making out from photos I just did a quick search on RG to see if his came with flat feet on the omega logo or not. Everything else looks spot on to the 4th generation I have sitting on my desk at home. Also oddly seeing that the last ones he had were orange numerals and black bezel which just imho looks strange compared to black bezel with white numerals. I'm overall happy with orange bezel and orange numerals. From one posting I saw, it doesn't look like Sead still has any in stock anyway. I'm assuming that Silix somehow got the watchmaker to continue building 4th generation PO but I'm not sure. Silix had another watchmaker that had an almost correct bezel style. I used to have one but I shipped it back to exchange for the almost-proper watch. I ended up with a 4th generation PO with incorrect dial which was strange since a porrika apparantly has the proper dial so it's not like they quit making those. I'm thinking that if I can get out of the mess I am in right now and find a better job, I might just go ahead and buy the gen. I have never been as fascinated with one particular watch in my life.
  9. I'm starting to remember that some people were even modding the rep dial by replacing its markers with ones from the 45mm ultimate rep of its time. And some even went so far as to replace the omega logo with flat feet from another watch. Probably a 45mm rep variant as well. People are going to want to be able to replace the crown tube with one from a gen as well unless the rep tube will accept a gen crown without any additional modding. But we could on the other hand hope that the crown looks the same as gen this time around too. Original post should have a countdown calendar timer on it Just a few weeks left now at the soonest. I keep hearing summer mentioned though. Not sure exactly when that starts I always thought it was in June.
  10. I seriously doubt that within one month's time I will have moved on from my interest in this watch unless it doesn't deliver. I have seen a few other omegas that look pretty decent that can be bought recently, but this is still my favorite one. And yeah I know what you mean about nickel eta not being all that necessary but it was a pretty nice addition last time and unfortunately mine came with the golden ETA like all the rest of my ETA powered watches have. Would be nice to see the dial with flat feet this time around. I was looking at a rep of a different omega recently that has flat feet so I don't see why it would be impossible. flat feet, correct he valve placement again, correct crown, globe and planet ocean impressed on the case back, serial number, proper pearl... that's almost all I can think of right off hand. I have no idea what's up with these low end reps people fawn over lately, the 21j powered ones. Seems we need more people who care about quality rather than the sub $100 rep. I've seen some of those 21j budge over $100 and well... it's just not for me. lol
  11. I keep looking at these threads and just realized that if you add months onto the OP it comes out to May 1, 2010 for the release date. So we still have to wait about another month. Hope it is worth the wait. If the price is right, I'll go on it. Hopefully no extra cost for nickel eta..
  12. We need some news and Silix claims to sell a better watch than what is in his photos (which is a 4th generation PO, although debatable..I heard all 4th generations came with nickel ETA but I don't believe that since I owned probalby the two last ones ever made at least according to the dealers)
  13. AFAIK, Daniel Craig wore the black bezel with white numbers model 45mm PO in Casino Royale and I was told he wore the 42.5mm version of the same watch in Quantum of Solace. I'm not sure why that would be though. I figure if the 45mm fits your wrist, that is the one you will probably buy. I got the 42.5mm because I measured my wrist and figured the 45mm would be too large. I could be wrong though who knows. I haven't put on a 45mm PO before. Oh this might be helpful. Says he did have the 42mm in the second movie. http://www.shadeone.com/watches/
  14. The link works. It is a 21j. You can end up with problems that way from time to time. Watch has typical flaws as any current 21j have. I haven't ever had problems with ETA movement omega watches, but the 21j I bought (it was the other blue SMP) stopped working within a month and the dealer I bought it from allowed me to upgrade to ETA for $100 and not even need to return the watch. I still wear it too and it runs like a champ. It is one of my oldest reps.
  15. You forgot about the crown, luminescent marker size, and pearl. I heard complaints about the font too. Overall I like my 4th generation but I'd be in the market for a 1:1 if they fixed all of that stuff which is entirely possible. Oh and the lume markers should be made so that the lume doesn't fall off of them this time lol. Why hasn't there been any updates? I'm guessing it may be posted at RG also but who knows.... 2 months left I guess. And the original poster mentioned that "we all know" how release dates go. I don't, clue me in? Do you mean there's some inconsistency or it will be out on time? I'm clueless on that. I followed the 4th generation PO's progress but bought it wayyyy later and ended up getting one of the last ones from the watch factory so I'm not in tune with release dates on watches. I guess if you are implying something about some other people's 1:1 copy of submariners then maybe I know what you mean but I'm not sure. I can only assume.
  16. That's a good review. I like my Asian one. I actually had the swiss one from T4D and it had flaws straight out of the factory unless it was like some refurbished watch or something which it almost appeared to be. It was inexpensive, but the watch I have now is a lot better. No obvious flaws on the dial, no flawed screws, none of that stuff the dealer refused to address. It is difficult to find a good dealer, even trusted dealers... I've had almost every trusted dealer send me watches with flaws. Puretime and Watcheden were very helpful in resolving issues but the watches I ended up keeping from them have glaring flaws also. I'd say overall right now I am happy with aoobuy although they sent me watches that had flaws as well but at least they respond to all emails and are somewhat helpful. The only dealer that didn't send me a bad watch was Ruby. But I only ordered one watch from her. Well I did notice the B was big on the crown of my asian SOSF and I do like that. I don't feel like diddling around comparing it to gen etc etc... you end up wanting to buy a different watch when you do that. Which is the point I am at with my new submariner but that is just getting a bit carried away. I mean if you buy a rep rollie for $70 and then switch up to one that cost $200 they both still are reps I mean the only way to get a 1:1 is to go to the AD except that'd run u a cool $30k. But yeah I would suggest getting photos first. Aoobuy told me that the watch I would receive was EXACTLY the same one as the SOSF in his photo. And he was legit, it was the same watch and it is a very immaculate piece imho. It would be nice to have high beat but nobody's selling an ETA clone any more. And when I did own an ETA clone it wasn't even that great of a watch over all besides the movement inside. I could probably write a whole two paragraphs about the flaws in that watch.
  17. I just wish they'd fix the flaws on the dial of the airking and put it in a case with the corrrect style bezel. I bought one from silix years ago and although it is a pretty watch, these flaws shine out after mearely glancing at one at an AD, unlike any of my recent datejust purchases. Airkings have thick 369 numbers and have a thicker bezel and also I believe they have a thicker crystal. I like my airking, but the crown stripped after owning it for 3 months so it just sits. It works fine though. One dealer promised I could order parts after new year but now he wants me to make another watch order so he can source the parts. I could see that happening a mile away. Most dealers do that. And this watch is too crude. I used to own it. I sold it a couple years ago brand new because the flaws stand out too much. http://www.silix-prime.com/rol199-p-788.html
  18. Some dealers charge more for the nickel, doesn't mean it is better. There have been people in the past who said that the nickel ones were gen new ETA and the gold ones typically are rebuilt. But who am I to say. I just find it interesting that one dealer would charge the same for nickel and gold once they can't source nickel any more and then another dealer comes up and says they have nickel and charges $40 on top of what it would cost for a regular gold movement, when this is a piece you rarely ever take a look at unless you have something like a clear caseback omega seamaster aquaterra of course.
  19. I have seen a panerai on a person's wrist, and sure it was someone trying to pass it as a gen, but since I am in this hobby also it is a very superb looking watch. I didn't realize until then that you could get them in smaller sizes around 42mm. So next purchase I may get one. Right now my favorite watch of all time is 4th generation 42.5mm PO with orange bezel. Second I guess would be one of my turn o graph watches. A nice panerai I believe would get up there and yes above a breitling. Although I like steelfish and avenger, they are too big for me.
  20. I learned in physics class in college that there is no such thing as 100% accurate in the real world. But on the other hand, these flaws to be noticed from a distance with the naked eye are kind of silly paying that much money for a watch. I would have to check over a rolex at the jeweler before putting down money on one just in case. That is a lot of money to spend for something that needs to be serviced right away imho. but yeah those genuine boards have shown flaws in watches and it is kinda silly when they lambast replicas which cost a fraction of the price. most people in the free world only know what a rolex is. if you flash a $2000+ tag, omega, or breitling in front of them almost nobody will know what the heck it is. might as well save some cash either way
  21. typical canal st. rep ending up on ebay. that clasp is hideous and i could never understand someone trying to sell a used watch that is so scraped up. a few minor scratches can easily be polished out, but this one needs a lot of work. reps like this are what I call fake rather than rep... I wouldn't be surprised if it is plated. luckily the dealers on these boards most often never send out plated watches posing as stainless. the watch that got me into the hobby was plated and I ended up selling it for $5 including shipping cost to a member on an older board as an esperiment for him to plate. unsure why that was appealing to him but maybe he could at least make use of the movement. I'm amazed I have not come across one rep yet with stuttering movement like that one had. maybe it needed to be serviced who knows.
  22. You have to buy the watch before silix will send pics. I am wondering though if we just should wait a few months. I know that silix, among most of the other SZ sellers on this board were going directly into the watch factory to pick up these time pieces, so I am sure that silix has direct link to the factory. I didn't know coaxials were that expensive to maintain but well maybe I am uneducated on what kind of movements are in these things. I know a coworker of mine has an aquaterra but I don't know if it is coaxial and he's always having problems with it. then again, I tell him where to go here to get it serviced and he spends the same money to service it in HK.. people don't listen to me and I know the best places nearby here to take a watch to. The only thing that griped me about the 4th gen was the crown. But would be nice to have the correct crown, pearl, correct He location again (why don't they do this right on current models escapes me completely), and omega emblem under the 12 needs flat feet and people have noticed this from the beginning, before the 4th gen. Accepting gen crown tube would at least be a start. The gen crown is not expensive at all.
  23. I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Silix claims to already offere an updated model over the 4th generation but nobody seems to have bought one and posted photos. This is by far my favorite watch of all time. And I'd agree this is a better watch to own in gen than a submariner. It is aesthetically a great deal more appealing and a much better deal, not to go into details of what the AD told me about coaxial escapement being much more refined than the movement inside a rolex which I'm not totally in agreement with. Well if it isn't out already, then what the heck is Silix offering? Silix is acting like it is already out imho. And above, that seamaster with black&white dial looks a hell of a lot better than any rolex daytona I've ever laid eyes on. Plus the blue seamaster with chronos was done extremely well and looks almost 100% identical to a gen.
  24. The above does look nice, but it looks the same as what I already have, minus the gold wrap. Rehaut depth is most often incorrect on this watch. I heard the only way to get a better rehaut is to have purchased the old MBW that was around probably 5 or more years ago.
  25. This doesn't sound legal or smart to me, but at least it isn't Singapore so I guess the reprecussions will be quite a bit less harsh
