  1. The only thing I find, hardware wise, that makes a mac suck these days (I'm going by macbooks though, not desktops) is the lack of drivers for microsoft operating systems. Which is odd because they use the same vendors for sound processors as pcs have been using for many years now. Otherwise a mac is basically the same thing as a PC but with a bigger price tag. I'd probably buy a macbook as my next laptop if the price wasn't in outer space all the time. I just looked at macbook prices last night and they still want about 2 grand for a semi-decent one with a 17" screen which with the same hardware specs you can buy in any other vendor for under a grand I would imagine. They don't even offer an i7 in a macbook pro yet and the price actually would be more justified if they did. Another problem with macs are the flock of sheep they have gathered, down to the developer. There are some professional sound editing software that only will run in mac osx and people who are deep into that hobby or profession know this and will buy macs. Which is why I would guess someone like (and I know this is a bad example, but still he is in the music industry) Souljaboy Tellem has a macbook pro. And he isn't exactly a mac nerd.. never heard of a mac geek being so absorbed by a microsoft video game console, which he is deeply into the xbox360.
  2. I prefer the blue TT much much more over the black. The plated straps are too thin. I own a TWB, some people said it is a late model MBW but I am not 100% certain, anyway beautiful watch solid gold end link midlinks was advertised to me but the midlinks are all plated. I have never worn the watch and just by keeping it clean, the plating is already thin and I've been extremely careful. But you can always buy a 14k strap on ebay for a few hundred bucks, problem solved. Rehaut on TT subs tend to be too shallow btw. I'd be able to spot a rep sub pretty fast due to the variants of rehaut depth out there now. But I was never very overly concerned about it on my watch. I just wanted a good finish, nice pearl, correct dial, and midlinks that were gold all around. I have owned 4 subs before I purchased this watch.
  3. I agree. I read on a gen forum about people who were frustrated that they purchased gen rolex that had flaws in the dial and some people go as far as to complain about variants in submariner dials "my friend bought a submariner then I bought one and my dial looks different". This guy saying Rolex throws away what comes off the assembly line that isn't good I would believe is incorrect as well. I know Ferrari does this (not the whole car, but parts on the assembly line such as if they drop a painted part on the floor they bin it) but I have never heard of a watch maker throwing out an entire watch because the dial had a crooked marker on it. I'd imagine that Rolex replaces the dial. Although yes they could afford to throw away the entire watch since they are overpriced to begin with and the internet is making that well known these days
  4. Silix claims to already have it available. But..... show me the watch Hopefully it won't become consumed by the cartel and inflated to 500 bucks or so
  5. what about... should I even say the name... the elusive "Jetmid"? I wasn't on these forums when jetmid was around unfortunately. come to think of it, jetmid probably was on these when the "old factory" was still pumping out seamaster professionals
  6. Cool thanks for the heads up. I miss seeing "life is good!" in threads He was the most unique individual I have met on these forums.
  7. I don't figure the watches will last long enough for this to be an issue Some members on this board purchase a new watch (or more than one I'm not sure how many) per year and sell it(them) and buy something else too. So one could always clear out his/her watch collection if it is of any need. I thought about this as a slight dilemma one day but it doesn't matter that much. I think of it this way. My dad purchased himself a quartz day-date as a novelty when I was young and then handed it off to me before I reached high school. I wore it a bit and I still have it in a box, but it isn't really anything to be worried about. A lot of people own these and it is pretty prevelant in our culture. It is all fine.
  8. As far as brands go, what is in fashion changes all the time and we are kind of at the end of the denim bubble so just go with whatever brand you like really. I have seen genuine Collezione Armani jeans for $500 a pair and those looked hideous like cheap run of the mill levi (and there are levi that look good too, you don't have to have designer label jeans to be in style). A lady at off 5th told me that usually Asians are buying designer jeans...but she happened to be Asian so I don't know if she really knew what she was talking about, might only notice those types when they come in their store. Anyone with money buys them, although I do know millionaires that only seem to wear levis as well. As much as I wouldn't like to say so since I own some, I think Seven for All Mankind is probably out of style and R&R and true religion probably are going out as well. Brands run their course and people get bored with them and move on to something else. You'll have to have good cash flow to keep up with it all. Also funny thing is jeans can last well over 10 years so if you drop $200+ in a pair just to throw out after a year, that is a very bad investment in clothing. I have been hearing of some Japanese brands being in style but it is difficult to tell. Might want to look around and see what people are wearing at a ritzy shopping mall such as in San Francisco or even better bet would be Scottsdale and Tempe, AZ which oddly has a lot more fancy shops than anywhere else I've ever been. Also if you ever purchase even one pair of authentic jeans, you'll stop buying rep ones..just be warned... the main reason is because a good rep is few and far between and authentic brands make a large wider range of products to choose from. plus I have been finding that the ink in replica jeans quite often will blot out very easily with water.
  9. You can order the gen strap from ofrei. Anything gen is going to cost a lot more than rep of course. Correct me if I am wrong too, but I heard that the gen leather strap is completely waterproof and of course a rep strap won't be. As in, you can go diving with the leather strap on I think.
  10. That is a very nice watch. I wonder where I can find one, must cost a bit.
  11. also what happened to Klink? he was a kind man and also had a sense of humor, although sometimes his sarcasm escaped me especially in pm's.
  12. Hey that fiberglass pen works great. After reading this post, I remembered that I had an automotive pen. So although I can't find the pen I found the refills and I took one and touched up the bracelet on my 007 seamaster. Seems to work pretty good. Should be able to purchase one of these types of pens at any automotive store or section in stores like walmart and target.
  13. I wouldn't recommend WD40. People use that junk as a fix it for everything. Its main purpose is for penetrating threads on bolts you want to unfasten, not really as a lubricant. Silicon grease sounds like a much better idea to me. The one watch I'd say could use some fix up when you receive it is the SOSF because the gen strap feels much different than that of a brand new rep. As far as cleaning the strap before greasing it, I'd try some mineral spirits personally. That stuff seems to get gunk off of a lot of things.
  14. I found it on amazon... SE Watch Pin Remover for $1.25 plus $2.99 shipping. Hopefully that solves the issue.
  15. I'd agree with the above, hackintoshes don't work the same as a real mac. on the other hand, a mac with windows on it doesn't necessarily work 100% the same as a dell with windows on it due to drivers for some of the internal hardware not being available. macs have their place: productivity. and I say that because you will find far less distractions in a mac environment than on a pc. there just is not as much software available for mac osx as there is for pc. it has been this way for more than 10 years. but people tend to migrate over to mac with this false idea that it is a more stable computer. there's no such thing as a perfect computer. if there was, someone would make a fortune off of it and apple is not as large of a company as intel. well, they use intel now anyway..so it's relatively the same as buying a pc clone now, just that they allow you to legally run mac osx on it and also support the o/s unlike installing mac osx on a dell which I have attempted before and ended up scrapping the idea because it runs like crap. imho stick with pc's, nobody needs mac osx and paying premium for a crippled pc isn't a smart move.
  16. I suppose so but when push goes to shove guess where the donatec money goes.. to the ISP, to Intel/AMD, to Belkin etc... and those people don't do anything for free. I think people get over consumed in free services which virtually do not exist. I have people at work expecting me to work on their computers for free or for a very low amount of money and well I just can't be bothered most of the time. I have some stuff sitting I'm just going to give back.
  17. The PO makes me love my Seiko, where the links are very easy to adjust Anyway.. where can one purchase that tool with the longer pin? I already have the blue one and it doesn't even push it half way, maybe 1/4 way out and then I have a hell of a time getting the pin the rest of the way out. Omega did a very poor job constructing their bracelets.
  18. Well, buying one with a gen ETA inside will run you somewhere north of $350 and I don't think it is worth it. I know where to get "AAA" grade ETA copy and 21j (yes I know the term AAA grade is bad but I'm sure you know what I mean.. sapphire crystal, double AR and other things). Those are sufficient. The only difference between one of those and the $350 watch is the movement and possibly the seconds hand is variant on the watches. I wouldn't spend over $200 on one with a gen ETA inside. The price is inflated on that watch. It's a replica of a watch that in gen costs ~$2500, so just personally not worth it for me (well that and the fact that a 45mm watch looks geeky on my wrist but that is beside the point). Basically it is a $80 watch with an ETA inside which should add maybe $60 to the cost. So you're spending $350+ on a $140 watch. That's quite some markup to me.
  19. Well personally even if these new rumors I read about in this thread pan out, it doesn't make any difference at all to me. Reason being is that forum welcomed me in a great deal more than RWC did when I started and I'm actually glad that forum has folded. I never liked bricktop, he was an arrogant * and we used to have to weed through posts to figure out anything useful on that board back when I started. I'm glad lexxdiamondz invited me onto RWI and I saw it grow. RWG is a great forum as well and I believe that RWI is just experiencing migration issues. These things can take more time than anticipated sometimes.
  20. As far as I'm ever concerned on any forum if there's a raffle or donations, the proceeds should go wherever the admin wants it to go. Time is money imho. Also as long as the raffle's prize winner was legit then all is good and fine. Plus I would imagine that the raffle has to cover the price of the watch plus donate to the board. I haven't seen people complaining about mismanagement of that forum but I have seen other forums go down because someone squaked that an admin used money to fund his personal life. But I mean if you look at it one way, if an admin doesn't have a job and is running a bbs with his time, why shouldn't he be paid to do so? If it is just a hobby I guess that is another thing but there's a grey line between hobby and business when you have to put so much effort into things. Anyway, just my opinion on how forums work. No need to take any of it as face value or about any forum in particular. The one I mentioned above has nothing to do with replica watches.
  21. Rather than relying on smut, any normal person would unscrew the crown and wind the watch fully then screw the crown back down. I get ~37-38 hours out of a genuine ETA and have been told that the Asian 21J will give you about 32 hours of power reserve. Without winding the watch manually, you're looking at 8-10 hours of wearing it to fully wind the watch. The ETA 2836-2 is a 38 hour power reserve movement.
  22. Well, afaik rolex doesn't make a daydate that isn't fine metal. I have a SS daydate and found that out later. Plus the SS it is made out of apparantly is low grade since it has this grey hue to it. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying the daydate model of watch unless the extra complication is a must and the watch as a whole is purely for novelty. A Datejust is more than sufficient. It will be difficult to find a true solid WG replica watch these days. Plus who wants WG jewelry anyway? It is rhodium plated and it tends to wear off and look ugly over time. Platinum is a better, but I would be willing to bet money that there is no such thing as a replica watch made from this metal as it is vastly expensive.
  23. Yeah I'd recommend looking at the Explorer I or maybe even a Milgauss. They make very good replicas of those and they aren't very expensive. I don't recall seeing the must 21 in chrono but I did a quick google search and it looks like a watch I saw people purchasing (non chrono, that is) over a year ago on these forums for their ladies. Maybe take a look at watcheden and see what they have too or even aoobuy those are good sites. I am unsure if either of those are on the trusted dealers list here though. watcheden is a trusted dealer on the other forum (which is down right now) at least. Cartier imho is a decent brand for women especially since they have their own product line of bracelets as well. Also Gucci might be ok too but I haven't looked into those as much. Of course the Gucci watches won't be as expensive in genuine issues though. Although I'm not a very big fan of lady size datejust, they seem to work fine for some women. I think Jessica Simpson bought her sister a men's size datejust when she purchased a watch for her a few years ago anyhow so I guess women wear either size they want these days.
  24. The midsize is still a very masculine looking watch. I went to Rafael Jewelers and one of their personnel was wearing one. She was a decent looking lady, but the watch seemed to detract from her appearance. On the other hand, I met a lady advertising one of the California casinos.. thunder valley or something, been too long to remember.. and she was wearing an Explorer I. That watch actually looked decent on her and there are some very nice examples of that watch floating around the dealers on these boards. Personally I think there's more fashionable watch brands for women than Rolex though.
  25. hmm I hope jfreeman is either a chick or is kidding that black guy in the post up there looks like he got a fat lip from being punched in the face, what's with that photo lol.
