  1. If the bezel is damaged, that can account for much of the cost. Sapphire isn't cheap, and labor for the ML is expensive at the AD too. Retail is $7300, but you can get new for around $6,000. This brand hasn't really caught on, maybe never will, so the resale value for used is low. The watch runs, so thats a bonus, if whatever broke the crystal also hit the posts for the hands that could be problems. It's just a modified eta 2824, but those mods are big.
  2. I hate that. I had a 20 gal reef tank going, totally crammed. I had a big (40 gal?) tupperware tank under it with bio-balls and the whole 9. Basic idea was, the more water, the more I could fit. The tank was just all you could see. I had corals, inverts, anenomea, couple clowns, it was cool. But lots of work. Tested the water daily. Go on vacation for 5 days and came home to cloudy water, dead fish, ehhh. I'm done. I think an anenomae died and killed everything.
  3. I don't remember how long of a term I paid for, but I swear it wasn't for this long. I suspect I may be lapsed, but it still shows me as a supporter. Of course, there is the A.D.D........ Not important, but drives me nuts sometimes: What is the difference in tags of "RWG supporter" and simply "supporter"?
  4. I must say, I did miss that avatar. Welcome back.
  5. I don't. I'm sick of them. I am around 100's of thousands of gallons of the stuff a day. Sometimes it's cool and I want a tank but don't really feel like taking care of it. The place where I work sells the fish to the pet stores. If you live in the midwest, and have a fish, I saw it first Just wondering if there's any hobbyists around here. Anyone interested in how the fish got from where ever to you, let me know and I'll share some pics of the process. Don't really want to do it too publicly though. Although, maybe it wouldn't matter. Here's a couple I took with my phone, uploaded to facebook with the BB/Facebook app, and then snatched from facebook with photobucket. Yes, I am bored. ( about an hr ago, I took some dry ice and water and blew up an empty soda bottle in the dock )
  6. Oh ya, and it's a sub. Thanks genzo, I'll check that out. It might be the same case and bezel style.
  7. I'm assuming it means the distance from the outer edge to the inner edge of the rehaut, as opposed to it's depth. Am I correct on this assumption? What is the difference between good front rehaut, and wokky-ness? Thanks
  8. Shameless bump for hope of an answer
  9. I am skeptical, but maybe the guy doesn't care. I've wasted more money on red bull and vodka and shots of patron in one night, and all I got was a headache the next day. Buyer protection sucks sometimes on the bay, but at least its there. I'll know on friday or saturday what the deal is, something was shipped, I know that for sure. I'll let everyone know when I get it/something Oh, and its .835 carat total weight, not 50 .835 carat diamonds. And the bezel looks a little damaged by the 12
  10. I was going to call the service center to see if they sell parts to the public today but I forgot. I'll have to do it tomorrow now.
  11. I was searching damaged on ebay and came across this: item #300208242735. I put a bid in for some reason, and won. I was very surprised, since at first I didn't realize it was misspelled. I know these watches don't have a good resale value, but with a crystal and buckle I would think it would be worth more than $129 plus the parts to fix it. What is it worth broken and repaired? I don't know if there is paperwork, so lets assume not. What should I do with this thing? I see a few options here: Spell it right and flip it as is Fix it, then sell it Part it out Fix it, give it to some girl, tell her she's special, score Just got here, will put pics in new post
  12. I came across this list of stolen items from 1 person on a site used to report theft. Nawcc if you never heard of it This poor guy had his whole collection stolen. Look at this stuff! Looks like some of the lists of stuff people have around here except all gen. Bet he wishes he had a safe now. So, what do you think the collection must have been worth? " On Sunday, January 28th, 2007 my home was burglarized...a number of items were taken, the worst of which was my cherished watch collection. Twenty-four pieces were taken as well as two large winders. Some were heirlooms with monumental sentimental value but the preponderance were high-quality, gorgeous, delicate works of art. I
  13. Wonder if it still works. Looks like whatever happened, the rotor was first in one position and then moved.
  14. Ran across this on the bay. Still not as bad as the one where the guy drilled the lugholes out on one side to put a bigger spring bar in (probably because that makes more sense than finding the right spring bar) and filed grooves into the caseback to open it with a regular case opener. He also scratched over the serial number with what looked like a nail. Still readable though. That was classic. Now for this pic, the groove is so deep I imagine it was done intentionally, but why? Even I'm not that much of a hack.
  15. Ok I don't know what started this, but i think it was the little jewel circled in red in the pic below. It was crooked, so i pulled everything off and set it back. Now the gear circled in blue (escape wheel) isnt being struck by the pallet fork correctly. The balance does it's thing, and the fork moves, but it was spinning the wheel one way for a while and then the other way. What am I missing here? I guess you're not supposed to just drop the escape wheel in? Oh and for later, if I want to change the canon pinion do I need a jewel press? Oh I just found what stopped the movement..... a little piece of clear plastic !!!???WTF????
  16. Oh ya, isnt the MB supposed to have a solid caseback? Not exhibition?
  17. Probably more reliable too, I had some issues with mine when I got it. They're more for the accuracy centered people than the "I want to take it out of the box and wear it and not worry about it" people
  18. Good one, I'll add it to my possibilities list Who has that one?
  19. the DW. You can get it in pieces and build it with a valjoux 72, (same as rolex cal 727) or buy it complete with a de-rotored 7750. The nice thing is that they accept gen parts, like crystal, bezel and crown easily, and it has the asymmetrical pushers just like the gen. Nobody else we know of has the pushers like this. I think the band that comes with the 7750 version leaves something to be desired, and you may have to tighten the pushers. Oh and you might have to cut the pusher stem down a little too. I think the rest are too easy to call out. Here's mine. I picked the newman type dial because I thought they looked better than the regular black/white white/black dials.
  20. The MB looks pretty accurate too. I'd go with metal bracelet anyway. Leather always seems to make my wrist look even smaller.
  21. I really want a new chrono, 7750. I was thinking about the MB timewalker from Josh, but it looked alot better when I was looking at it last week. Dont want to pull the trigger until I get some other ideas. So, any ideas? Looking to spend around 300USD BTW.
  22. Since I can't leave things as they are, I want to change the bezel and insert on my TTK MBW with F-serial. This one "floats" a little and I cant take any more off of the insert. The inside of the bezel itself is just too shallow, and I do not have the skill to remove any material from there. Are there any bezels that will fit on here without hassle? And porsche, if you read this, don't worry, I'd Mod a GEN!
  23. I have now 2 subs, a DW daytona (7750) and a gen movado. Not even close to being enough. Up next is a Montblanc Timewalker chrono, Frankenjust, and a vintage sub or dweller. I think 10 should be a reasonable amount, a nice, round number that multiplies very easily and a common, easy to find size for watch winder boxes.
  24. 1 1/12! I guess I'll eventually have to go that route. That insert is for the transitional right? would that work for the newer ones too? Not that it's less expensive or anything.... I see some variatons on the 4's in 40 on the gens too, sometimes with the same model # and everything. Whats up with that? The inside of yours is pointy, and on some they are flat, like on mine.
