  1. So... this morning I decided to buy myself a ticket to Basel and pay a visit to Baselworld next month.

I always wanted to see what it is all about and stroll around to find my next to be purchase.

Has anyone ever been there, how is it like, what to expect.? endless queueing for a glimpse of the next Rollie, everything behind inches of glass and nothing to try on or....?

    Love to hear some experiences

    cheers ,

(and yes I'll bring my camera  :) )

  2. Anyone know what kind of mods can be applied to the LMPO?

    :evil2:

Well...I now know one mod you could potentially consider; I've waterproofed my LMPO and decided it would be my holiday watch for this year.

Went diving , some snorkeling, in the pool etc and everything was OK until the last few day I was unable -or was very hard- to close the clasp.

I couldn't be bothered at the time and it was only until I got home I discovered the rust inside the clasp..

Too bad the factories didn't spend an extra penny and made the spring inside the clasp stainless steel or so to prevent it from rusting....

Spring bars also didn't survive salt water and were a real pain to get out..

So , I've ordered a gen clasp from cousinsUK and some Omega spring bars , gave the bracelet a spa treatment with White Lightning and I'm a happy camper again.

I must admit that if your planning to keep your rep out of the water so there's no chance for rust, don't bother getting a gen clasp; besides some minor difference in finish and tolerances there is no way you could tell which one is which..

Besides this little mishap I still think the LMPO qualifies for being a super rep, overall finish and fit are excellent, a keeper for sure !

  3. Received mine from Toro a couple of days ago and overall I'm quite happy with the build except for the case back; on the second day I had black paint on my wrist, seemed i had lost all of the paint from the engravings... Tried to redo the printing yesterday with some enamel paint but even that came off after a bit of a rub ... Back to the drawing board I guess..

I've owned the gen for a while and a part from the case back -which isn't a fault- two things I've noticed; the bezel is too easy to turn, it's not loose but not as tight/firm as the gen, possibly an easy fix but for now I'll leave it as it is. One other thing is the date window cut-out, it looks like the gloss paint has accumulated around the edges of the date window giving it bit more rounded effect, on a matte dial finish this would remain unnoticed...

All in all I'm very pleased with it and a good substitute for the real deal, I've waterproofed it and this will be my summer holiday watch , will see how it will hold up against snorkeling and swimming..

  5. It depends on which rep rubber version you're comparing it to..

I've had several in the past, they were all crap, too thin, wrong marks, bad finish, you name it

then the latest PAM005 came out - or PAM318, all from the same maker- and these straps are waaaayyyy better than any other -except for the vanilla scent-

So ,IMHO , and it's personal I know, but having compared it side by side , if compared to the latest generation, no it's not worth getting the gen.

  6. Anyone know of an app that does the same thing with PC's...

Remote Tap only works on Macs :( ...

    Thanks,

Try using Mocha VNC lite from the app store, it's free and can control both mac and pc desktops

All you need is a vnc server running on your pc, wouldn't use it over the internet though since security is limited

For internet access I use logmein , reasonable but save desktop connection.

  7. Thanks Avitt !

it all sounds too simple to be true , I'll give it a try right away.

    Great tip mate !

    Thanks all :)

I thought about this for a while, verbal, and here's how I ended up doing it:

    1. Find a coin which is the size of the center area (a US quarter is exactly the right size).
    2. Place two layers of wide blue painters' tape on a piece of wax paper.
    3. Holding the coin down in the center of the tape, carefully cut around it with an exacto knife, leaving a hole in the tape.
    4. Peel the tape off of the wax paper.
    5. Carefully place the hole in the tape over the area to be brushed. It helps to keep the straight edge of the tape aligned with the direction of the brush strokes.
    6. Use repeated, straight strokes with a sanding pad to apply the brush marks (I used a 3M medium sponge).
    7. Remove the tape, and wipe down the case back.
    8. Take your coin, and stick it down to the brushed area with double-stick tape.
    9. Holding the coin in place, polish around the outer edge of the case back with a dremel or bench polisher.
    10. You're done!
  8. Just found out about this thread and might as well chime in here;

So you're looking for an easy to reach, sufficient parking spaced area and preferrably a decent place for a good meal.. What about the Arena area, lots of parking space, a couple of restaurants and just outside Amsterdam..

Oh, and by the way, I'm in :p

    untill we meet :wiggle:
