  1. Hi Guys

If I really wanted to buy either a gen strap or bracelet for my Carrera Chrono.. will it fit?!

    Like these for example..

or a gen leather perforated which is my faviourite next to the bracelet.

Yes they fit, I've done the exact same thing..

Even though it's crappy, the rep clasp fits perfectly, I'll have to swap that for a genuine someday, don't worry about the springbar, it'll fit but a slightly bend springbar looks better, it matches the case better

    Regards,

    Robert

  2. i also looked for a darkblue strap and got one from waccex - nevertheless i am interested which strap you got (source would be helpful).

have you done double or single side AR?

    thanx,

    he

The strap is from The Watch Boys, do a search for Kurt @ TZ, he's listing all kinds of IWC straps and it's a double AR treatment..

@ Yellomen; regarding caseback, I'm doing some testing on a spare caseback to get it nice and evenly brushed , the challenge is to get it perfect round..

  3. Just wanted to share some eyecandy from a Portu Laureus I had AR'd by Jakub.. :p

In an old post I showed off my newly AR coated Portu and was amazed by the result. The 3714-04 however doesn't have AR coating -it could pass for the "Miami Vice" special edition, but than the caseback would be all wrong-

So I thought a Laureus edition does come with a correct caseback and fitted with a nice AR crystal and a deep blue strap it would be a -almost perfect- killer watch.. as long as the movement holds ;)

So, off it went to Jakub for his piece of art and off to TimeZone for a deep blue strap, and here's the result.: hope you like it, I certainly do

ad is ok, but is there an alternative?

    thanx, he

  5. Heard an interesting story the other day at a local HiFi dealer; I'm also in for an 'upgrade' and here is his point of view:

" The war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray will most likely be won by HD-DVD.. Why, 3 reasons; from every 10 Blu-Ray chips Sony produce, 7 will find their way into a PS3, the other 3 will be evenly spread among other player manufacturers plus coding Blu-Ray is cumbersome and expensive.

The 'cheaper' alternative is HD-DVD which will be widely adopted by the biggest producers of DVD's... indeed , the porn industry.. same story a few decades ago between VHS and Betamax"

If it's true, I don't know, sure is an interesting theory ;)

  6. Guys,

When it comes to gens, I love my Tag's but when it comes to reps, I think you're all WRONG !!

Why you ask... Because all of you feel that the "ULTIMATE" Aquaracer or the "BEST" Carrera is as close to a gen you can get these days, well, let me tell you, you've all been fooled  and to quote a famous actor " The Best, The Best, Losers whine about their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen" there you have it..

So in my search for the Pinnacle of replica watches, I've found the Winner that will put all those "Best" and "Ultimates" in a darker than dark shade B)

Now I know all your PayPal accounts are itching and before my PM box gets flooded with requests : IT IS NOT FOR SALE !! (although I do concider a trade for HBB or SFSO)

    So, show me the pics..

And to start off with a quick spec list:

Movement: genuine quartz 60 ticks per minute

    - See through Glass

    - Case: well, euh, it's made out of 100% shiny stuff

    - Dial: perfectly round in every aspect, with hand applied indices @ EVERY hour (1:1 copy from original)

    - Correct Date Mag and Font

    - Case Diameter 34mm - An attention grabber on your wrist!!

    - Made 1:1 from a Genuine

And now the piece the resistance:

    Caseback shot:

Mind the vintage work done on the bracelet, (and imagine the extensive rash on my wrist)

    dsc00326ld3.jpg

Well, what do you think.? I bet that if I send this to TTK and he shoots a couple of pictures of this, people will line up to get one :D :D

bought this on a Tenerife beach stall in '92 and was king of the world : my first Tag rep :1a:

  7. impressive collection chrgod ! Love the vintage Carrera, too bad they got stolen, impressive Monza by the way for a quartz, haven't seen these around for a while.

My very first rep ever was a Tag as well; a SE/L from the beaches of Tenerife back in '92 , man I was amazed how acurate that looked (little did I know) :D still have it and will post some pics later..

  8. 1. 100% NO, i know for a fact. I've bought my first PAM050 from Eddie late 2005 for a mere US$ 450 -talk about prices heh-. that broke last summer, since it was one of my favourites, I bought a replacement from Paul-Mart for US$200+ and was amazed by the differences of the two.

-Different type movement (I guess slow beat vs fast beat, not sure but the finish on Eddie's was way better)

-Different datefont, horrible on Paul-mart's version but the crystal had a better magnification oddly enough

-Case finish waaaay better on Eddie's, 'crisp' edges excellent modelled

-no difference on dial printing though

-crown guard on Eddie's snaps in like a genuine, Paul-Mart had the floppy lever syndrome and felt flimsy

-Eddie's lasted two years, Paul-Mart lasted 4 months.....

Fair enough, that was two years ago vs. last summer, a lot of things changed and prices dropped, so has quality and QC.

I guess nowdays there are one or two factories out there producing them (sometimes serial numbers are different between the two, could indicate different factories)

    2. I think the 050 is still the best out of the box rep you can get.!

    3. Send it to The Zigmeister, you can't go wrong with him, you'll be amazed by the result

    Good luck
