  1. I find no matter how good the watch looks the durability is not really all that good.   The cases and bracelets get beat up much quicker then a gen.   I find the reps get beat up even quicker then Breitlings which never seem to look good after a few years.   Not sure if it is the quality or hardness of the steel but that is what I notice when comparing reps to gens...   Even some gens to other gens.

  2. I would say it is worth probably only $1500.  I have seen them go in the pawn shops around my area that do specialize in watches and have a watch maker on site for that amount.   It does need some work.  That being said it is a gen watch.

I say this knowing that an all stainless DateJust can be had at one of the said pawnshops for around $1800..   You can do a new dial and bezel as well as a band and have what looks like a new watch for a

fraction of the price of a new one.

Case could be buffed bracelet and clasp get a new one service the movement.  I know my watch maker could go all Rolex and be done at $1000 to $1250..

  3. How are the Newbie Rolex Explorers on Andrew's site?  Are they a decent rep?   They come with the asian 21J movement and are fairly cheap.  I am looking for one to wear golfing.  I usually wear an older Steve Mcqueen but have noticed I need to get it serviced a bit more frequently then I would like.  Just wondering how they compare to the real thing..

    THANKS
