  1. I just got Homer's Tourby rose gold with white dial delivered to the office today (not a bad way to make Monday more bearable) and the watch is great. You've all seen his pics and they're better than anything I could whip up real quick. The gold plating is fantastic and the overall finish of the watch is qute nicely done. It really does look like something that should cost well into the thousands of dollars, not a few hundred.
  2. Does anybody know which watches use the ETA 6498-1 movement, can be reps or gens? Thanks.
  3. Wow, that lume is off the charts. I like the brushed / polished effect on the casing as well. I'm not into pilot watches, but if I was I'd give this a serious look. Nicely done.
  4. I'd be very interested in this. Especially for something like a Breguet, Patek or Vacheron Constantin. Heck, I'd even be interested in replacing the gold plated case on Homer's tourbillion with a solid gold one if it could be done.
  5. LOL. I couldn't agree more. They'll rep complete monstrosities, but when it comes to gorgeous watches like this and the UN Maxi Marine Diver we get nothing.
  6. No, I mean this one....the third one down on the page. http://www.thewatchquote.com/Breguet-Marin...006-No_5902.htm
  7. I've posted about this before as well. I'd buy one in a hearbeat if its done properly. As for me, give me the rose gold as well (like the one pictured above except the entire case and bezel is rose gold).
  8. I for one like it without the date mag. Not having one gives it a much cleaner, streamlined look. The hands could be changed, but I can say I think there would be a market for this watch in that price range....maybe not to watch geeks like us, but for somebody who wants a nice watch without dropping a couple of grand with a different look.
  9. 42mm PO for me as well. I don't care for the Rolex's mentioned, but I wouldn't mind seeing some Breguet (particularly the Marine Big Date) as well.
  10. I think the height thing is going to be a killer for me. I like the look, but it's just way too big for me. For those who like their watches big, this could be the thing.
  11. I completely agree with By-Tor on this one...nothing over 43mm for me either. I went to the AD to try on the 45 PO and the sheer size of it made it feel unbalanced and uncomfortable. I don't have any large watches, and never will.
  12. Welcome. You'll love it here, but it can definately be overwhelming. Don't hesistate to ask questions. How's the heat our there? I used to live in Tucson and miss it quite a bit.
  13. "the guilloche pattern Breguet rep I'm wearing right now is silver, as are a good many I've seen (although most tend to look white on a photo)... " That's interesting. Most of the ones listed describe the dial as white. There are a few listed reps I've seen with silver dials, but not many. Which rep do you have?
  14. The real Breguet dials are silver in color, so why do all the reps with the guilloche patterns come with white dials? Is there some reason they can't rep the dials and make them silver colored?
  15. I would love to see a couple of great Breguet reps. The classique and the marine big date in particular. The one thing that bugs me about the existing reps is the dial color. I like white guilloche, but for a Breguet the dial needs to be silver. How hard is that to do? Why do they insist on making them white?
  16. I'll second that emotion. The Breguet Marine is one of my grail watches....hopefully somebody will take a stab it and get some variety going. Can't take any more chrono's.
  17. Raymond, is the dial on the tourbillion salmon colored or white? It looks white in the pictures, which I actually prefer. I recently contacted a couple of dealers about this model and they were all out of stock.
  18. At this point, I'm leaning toward just buying the Homer Tourby, and at some point possibly swapping the hands, since that's the only part of the watch that I'm not really thrilled with. But if I look at other tourbillion's which dealers would you recommend buying from that will quality control it for me? I agree with your point about being careful. I definately want to be careful with this purchase, and future tourbillion purchases.
  19. I've recently been bitten by the tourbillion bug and since I'm a big fan of Breguet, and given their history with tourbillions, I'm really liking the Breguet Flying Tourbillion. Two problems: 1) I've read that these typically have the first generation of the Chinese tourbillion movements (which I read somewhere were somewhat less than reliable), and 2) they've been phased out. I know homer sells a tourbillion with a very nice movement, only I'm not sold on the dial (I like the cleanness of the guilloche pattern on the Breguet). If I can somehow source a Breguet tourby, and the movement fails would it possible to do a movement swap using one of Homer's movements, or any other known new generation, reliable Chinese tourby movement, or are they going to be different sizes and therefore not transferrable? Ideally I'd like to get the Breguet rep with the upgraded movement, is this doable? Thanks.
  20. "3mm size difference is quite a flaw for a watch costing nearly $400. I think i will have to pass. " I'd agree. A 20% increase in size should be easily noticeable. That flaw alone kills any hope that this will ever be classed as a super rep. And $400 for a watch with that obvious a flaw seems a bit steep to me.
  21. I was really looking forward to this watch and had it high on my list, but at 18mm I think the case is too thick for me. I don't like big chunky watches and this one just doesn't seem as if its going to have the balance of the original with the extra 3mm of height. Might have to pass on this one sadly, as I love the look of the gen.
  22. Here's the best looking....the Breguet Marine Big Date http://prestigetime.com/item.php?item_id=6547
  23. I'm with you on this one. I've been dying to get a 42mm PO with black dial and orange numbers, but like you I'm a bracelet fan, so the endlink/bracelet issue has been keeping me on the sidelines. For the life of me I can't figure out why the dealers haven't come out with an ultimate version in the 42mm size. I hate big watches, so there's no chance of me getting the UPO either.
  24. I think he meant negative return. In order to answer the question first I need an idea of how long you intend to wait until retiring.
  25. Nothing is quite like the gen, but as By-Tor says, you can't just live with one or two watches. If I owned gen's of all the watches I really wanted I'd have no money left over for anything else. So, what's a member to do: 1) Buy the gens of the watches that are truly special to you...the one's you are really drawn to. Then fill out the rest of your collection of reps. Both will be special, but for different reasons. 2) Sell me your 42mm PO!!!!
