  1. Here are some very quick photos of an OEM crown I received today.. Regular stems won't fit because of the internal spring.. I don't know what kind of stems will fit but definately not the rep ones (probably the ones from the Automatics?? - I will have to try).
  2. Of course my friend The burnishing really depends on the leather. First, the most important part is to start with a nice clean edge. When I cut the width of my straps, I use a rotary cutter and this gives me the cleanest edge I've been able to achieve. Then, if the leather's firm and not too hairy, I bevel the edges. Then I apply some Gum Tragacanth and allow it to just dry. Moisture content of the leather is very important and it's really hard to tell when you have the "sweet spot". Then I use a canvass cloth that's been impregnated with beeswax (natural color). You start rubbing fairly vigorously until the leather heats up and the fibers start to lay down. You may find in this stage that you can't rub both ways and get a good slick edge. You may have to work one way or the other and just rub in that direction. Once it's slick, I use a product called Tan-Kote to finish and seal the edge so that it wears better. If you don't do this, you'll have to re-burnish sometime down the road when it roughs up from taking it on and off. Now, if the leather is soft and/or hairy. Then you have to improvise a bit. On the gold/yellow strap this was the case. I used some leather dye that has a bit of acrylic in it. I couldn't bevel the edges b/c the leather was too soft for it to look good. Once the dye had dried, I used a wooden burnishing bit (that I made) on a dremel tool to do the first pass. I made the bit out of lignum vitae which is a very hard hardwood. Used the lowest speed on a variable speed dremel. Then when it was fairly smooth, I used the canvass cloth like previous. Again, finishing it off with the Tan-Kote. I was going to redye after the first pass b/c a little of the black came off and the natural color of the leather started just poking through. But, I kind of liked the look, so I left it alone. It's really labor-intensive and somewhat of a pain, but the results are worth it to me anyway.
  3. SOrry guys I meant the AR is not the same and not the Lume
  4. AR is not the same on every model.. Member of the forum and good friend has sold his 111H (not I ) because he had a GREENISH tint AR and he didnt liked it. He bought an I series 112 with bluish tint and he was happy
  5. Beautiful watch W.. Wear it in good health and enjoy it

As I said before I DON'T TRUST Panerai's official descriptions.. I will check with my eyes again and let you know. From all the photos (of the actual watches) at Paneristi (and i have seen hundreds) there is no visual sign of AR.
  7. Beautiful watch my friend.. Good choice indeed Of course all the remarks of how close it is to the gen can only be based on photos.. When you hold both the watches in your hands there is a substantial difference And yes.. The white colour text of the rep, the wrong font of the 2 and the L SWISS MADE L are the biggest flaws on the dial making it instnatly recognisable from the genuine
  8. No they are not.. They tapper from 26mm to 22mm... hence the buckle is 22mm and not 24. Plus Davidsen's 24mm buckle is awfuly engraved... A plain one from aftermarket dealers will be much better if you ask me.
  9. Well he made the tour of the artic circle.. it is normal to loose a couple of markers
  10. Niiiiiiiice How you do the side burnish? I use leather polishing paste and a lot of effort but it doesn';t comes out as good as yours..

Well it is like the lamps.. THere are screw in lamps and bayonet lamps.. that lock in place. To be honest there are many other almost perfect reps.. probably not only two. The story of the factory closed is concerning an Omega SMP Bond two years ago.. A factory made a perfect SMP with the same movement used by the genuine (dont remember the number - 2892? ) Anyways.. at the time were sold like crazy but after a few weeks there was a rumor that the factory closed after a police raid... Ask the people having those watches.. They will not part with them unless they really need the money I haven't seen any sign of AR when I handled it at my AD... I have to go back again though and check again
  12. No taper.. 26/26 with 26mm buckle.
  13. WHat kind of buckle do you want? Screw in or sewn-in? Because since there is no OEM screw-in 24mm PANERAI buckle.. thats the reason there is no Rep..
  14. Come on Pho.. post the devilish photo.. or I will keep posting beautiful 'virgins'

Great news Angus.. I think every day I see this watch it seems it is one of the 3 best watches out of the box.. There must be a fault.. there is no chance the Factory to make a 100% accurate rep... THey will close the factory down like the Ultimate 100% Omega a couple of years ago
  16. Of course NO.. Davidsen has some ugly screw in with an awful engraving... Don't even think about getting them.. These are from a source in Thailand I found.. They are expensive but they are 99,9% same as the OEM MX. Only the thickness is different and you can distinguish them from the OEM. THey are a tad thiner. Engraving is spot-on.
  17. Yeah right.. I know you are talking behind my back at least when i m not there Why you sold the XaMas? I am on the process of getting one.. Have to seel some to gather the money first
  18. Well no one replied.. Am I paranoid or what?

Btw.. I personally believe that it IS bayonnet (new style closing of FER Pams).. If you see all the different photos of the crown from the dealers in all the photos with the crown closed, the horse is aligned perfectly and the yellow dot is underneath it... It cannot be a coincidence all the dealers to have screwed the crowns to an exact same position.. Check what I say and you will see

I ordered the chrono version.. FER 008... I don't know about the closure mechanism.. I have to have it in my hands to let you know.. From the pics you cannot really tell.. although it doesn't seem like ordinary threads. We'll see Monday..
  21. Most of the stores sell full hides 1x2 meters.. I have found 2-3 stores with pieces of leather.. They are less expensive and you can do many custom straps without having a pile of leather unused. They are the same quality but in small irregular pieces (basically only useful for making small leather pieces by hand like we do) For my production of the three Mignatta straps though I went with the full hides.
