  1. First thanks and all credit due to Avitt. He did the work for me and it took some time to get it right, but boy was it worth it!

Here are some quick and dirty wrist shots. I put a few up so you could see the different shades the DLC shows depending on the lighting.

The DLC on the bracelet is definitely a shade darker than the watch, but in most lighting conditions it is not really that noticeable.

Avitt will be following up with a more detailed post with light box pictures of the watch and bracelet. So here are a few teasers...

  2. anything under 6.5" will probably need to punch additional holes in the strap according to what ive read and asked to the people who have done so.

I actually prefer a bracelet over a rubber strap but im not sure how well a SS bracelet would work with a blacksteel lol :p

You are correct in questioning how a SS bracelet would look on a Blackstreel.

Stay tuned. In the next few weeks I hope to have a solution. All I can tell you right now is D L C !!!!!!

  3. etacker - A little late, but one thing not mentioned in this thread is WHY the Skylander wears so well on smaller size wrists. If you look closely at the picture you posted you can see why. The lugs on the Skylander have a very pronounced curve in them that follows the contour of your wrist, unlike most larger sized watch cases where the lugs seem to come out straight from the case. The watch does wear "Tall" but as far as being comfortable on the wrist and not looking like a wall clock, I think you will be very pleased with how it looks and as important - how it FEELS on the wrist.

    Good luck.

  4. Vlad,

If you really like the watch and the rubber strap ends up being too small you, might consder Zulu web strap. There are several different styles and numerous colors. I put one on my Blacksteel Skylander and truthfully, I think it looks much better than the stock rubber strap. Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea...

    Good luck.

  5. Here's the update - I took the watch to a local watch maker and explained to him the problem and that the repair was to glue the underside of the hand to the tube. He said "No problem"

Two days later I came back and the hand was now looser then when I took it to him (he told me it was "Something inside and there was nothing wrong with the second hand") Clearly this guy didn't have a clue as to what he was doing...

After a little more asking around I found a second watch maker in the area and took it to him. I explained what seemed to be the reason for the loose second hand and he said "I can definitely fix it"

I came back two days later and voil

  6. this watch is a crap

all crowns will demage within few months... all watches needs a replacement one day

"all watches needs a replacement one day"

Yes - precisely! This is why you need to at least own a dozen or more watches. The more you own and rotate them through, the longer they last.

    BUY MORE REPS!

    ;):D:D:D

  7. I am stumped! Can anyone help? My Breitling Blacksteel has gone crazy! If I run the chronos and stop them. Push the reset button - the second hand returns to one second past the last place it was. Like this - if it was on 12 straight up and I run the chronos and reset them, it goes to one second after. Run it again and reset it and it stops at two after, the next time it stops at three after, then four after etc and so fourth. The second hand was checked and it is not loose on the cannon pin....

    Any ideas?

    AAAARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

    Thanks in advance.

  8. No, no special priveleges.. I never ask for any of my Asian Movements except the A7750 to be serviced .. I cannot see the reasoning behind servicing a movement that can be easily replaced.. So I have stayed in sync with The Zigmeister's policy ..:)

Lani, I did not ask to have it serviced. All I asked for was to have it re lumed. Actually, the watch is keeping COSC time!

and although a transaction with Aaron takes a little patience, his straps are by far some of the best...

  9. I agree with b16a2 who agrees with Jake who agrees with Delta who agrees with me only because delta got me the genuine lume shot that I sent along with my 5002 to the Great North to the Den of the Ziggmeister for a relume and should be coming home ... all in good time.. :)

And I also agree with DT on the strap issue to which here are some pics from a thread I posted after recieving the OEM spec strap from Aaron..

Hey Lani - I ended up with two of Aaron's factory spec straps after seeing yours and they are stunners. Absolutely gorgeous straps!

I will be curious to see how your watch comes out when it returns from The Zigmeister. Interestingly, when I emailed The Zigmeister with a request to lume my 5002 I was given a reply by his partner that The Zigmeister would no longer accept a request for work on anything other than Swiss ETA and Asian 7750's. No Asian ETA clones or Asian movmnt's. I sent a picture of the movement of my IWC 5002 and his partner responded that he would not work on this type of watch movement.

I hope you have "Special privilages" as it appears I do not.

    Good luck!

  10. And I agree with all of the above. Not only is the 5002 the more accurate watch, but it is also the nicest in my opinion, it takes alot more from the original design of the pilots watch - based around the instruments in an aircraft.

Nice point to bring up b -

Also, I realized there is onemore thing...

Add lume to the whole shebang and you've got an Almighty superdupertrooper rep!

    What was I thinking?

  11. i agree with lani -- the 5002 is extremely accurate, so that's an easy choice.

the question of faux power reserve re: moving power reserve is also an easy one -- go with the faux power reserve, adjust the hand to show fully wound, get the crystal double AR coated, and you've got yourself an incredible rep....

    deltatahoe

I agree with Delta who agrees with Lani...

Delta left out one thing though - put a nice strap on it too! This take the watch into superdupertrooper Rep watch status! (Two steps above super Rep status)

  12. @involt: I can understand your passion. I apologize for calling your study stupid. Don't give up the fight, the need for truth. You might do some harm and some good in the short term but you are helping in the long run. I'm too mellow, practical, and jaded to do the same.

BTW, George said he would do a v2 TT sub in about 2 months. He probably will say 18k wrapped gold now, or..........NOT. LOL. But seriously, I'm happy it's back because nobody else does it better.

    -bk

No need for long winded posts ad nauseum. bk said it all right there! Nice job of making sense of the nonsense.

I'll check back in a month or so for some more entertainment to see if the usual suspects are still boosting their thread count to this all ready beat to death topic! ;)

  13. First, yes Im new to the forum. BUT I have been following it for a couple of months.

Yes I actually own a WM9 TT sub. Only issue I have is with the gold on the clasp. It actually does have a small area of tarnish on it.

I dont care if it is solid gold vs gold plating. I agree someone should not false advertise, but there is obviously a lot of pressure in this game.

I do care about the quality of the plating. I do care how long it will last. I do care if George will send me another bracelet for free in 2 yrs or so if the plating wears off that quickly. Does anyone have a WM9 watch where the plating has failed or come off already? Anyone? Did George replace it for you for free? Hmm? I am interested now in the datejust all gold bracelet with gold face from George, BUT im really worried about the plating with this much "Gold." Gee, maybe that ones all solid gold too??? Likely its the same process or material or maybe even thinner plating (5 mils or less). U know it aint solid. Most likely gold plating. So are all the other reps. Question is the quality, how thick, and how long will it last. Assuming you dont go swimming with it or wear it playing sports. I know I always wear my gold watches during Tennis, Volleyball, and basketball!?! ;) WILL GEORGE STAND BEHIND HIS PRODUCT AND FOR HOW LONG?! If so, then I will pay the extra money. Or i guess I can just go spend the 25K for the real thing, but why if you have a 90% solution for a fraction of the cost. If he doesnt..... well, the forums and there members do have some power and everyone knows customer service is what can keep you in buisnees or kill you. I have no issues with George. I would charge what I could as well for a high end rep with good plating. I know he doesnt make them. I do know he travels out of the country to Taiwan where they are made or did recently. He may not be 100% on the gold plating or just the middle man to a degree. Who knows. Does it last??? Does it serve its purpose? Is the quality worth the money? The last one is a fine line I give you that. If it lasts for MANY years then I would have to say probably so.

    J

Doc- I have had my WM9 TT Sub for about two years now and the Gold plating is just fine (I do not wear the watch everyday however) As you can probably guess from the different answers concerning George at WM9, the answer to your questions varies depending on the INDIVIDUALS experience.

One thing I can tell you for sure is that you should email George personally regarding your concerns and George's "Gold guarantee." It is his guarantee and seeing that there is always a personal slant to what people post, your best bet is to go to the source. Ask specific questions to George and you will get specific answers. George may not always be the fastest, but I assure you he makes good on his word or offers a refund.

BTW - I re-read your post and had to add that if you expect ANY gold plated watch to last any reasonable length of time when you do sports of ANY type that make you sweat (IE Basketball, Tennis etc) you are fooling yourself. Only solid gold will take that kind of abuse and even at that, solid gold will tarnish and wear abnormaly fast if exposed to adverse conditions like you have described.

Basically- If you emailed me and asked for a two year guarantee on gold plate that you intended to wear doing sporting activities I would probably reply "Are you kidding?" and then suggest you buy your watch somewere else...

  14. 1. - SKYLAND - Blacksteel or otherwise - Crazy accurate look and feel!

    2. - IWC BP 5002 v2 - Amazing quality and accuracy for the price...

    3. - GMT II C IHS - First of the new case rollies to get it right.

Honorable mention (as it isn't officially out) - The BK/WM9 "Who has the best Sub" 16610.

From what I have seen, this sub blows every other sub out of the water and in terms of accuracy, may very well be the best "Out of the box" Rep to date...

  15. Hi all,

I just tested my black steel by scratching it against my ring 2 times and my GF's metal bangle 1 time.

    No mark at all.

Whether is it DLC I don't really care as the coating is indeed durable.

    Regards,

    Tosh

I too tried to scratch the DLC finish on my watch. Not exactly scientific, but when I changed the strap I took the tip of the wrist pin tool and tried to leave a scratch by running the tip across the inside of one of the lugs. I used enough pressure that it would have certainly scratched the normal Rep Stainless Steel finish and it did not. I did not have the heart to try again by pressing even harder, but suffice to say, I was happy that the tool did not leave the slightest hint of a scratch!

  16. Hi

My package left Shanghai sorting center on 9th December and has still not reached JFK. EMS tracking shows this information:

    Timing Site Status

      2008-12-08 08:36:00 JIADING Posting

      2008-12-08 16:58:00 1844 Despatch from Sorting Center

2008-12-08 23:53:21 SHANGHAI Arrival at Sorting Center

2008-12-09 00:49:30 SHANGHAI Despatch from Sorting Center

Normally,it gets to USA within 2-3 days from China. This is like over 1 week today. Has anybody else had a similiar experience recently

I would imagine mailing must be backed up a bit, because of holiday mailing traffic, but this sees too long:(

Do I need to do anything.

    Will appreciate your feedback.

By now it should have moved on. If it has not, copy the current info re the package and send it to your dealer. Ask him to check with the local Post to see what is up. I had this happen once and the dealer was able to correct the problem.

Also, I have seen a status like the one above were the package, for some stange reason, was not being updated, but showed up at my door any how.

    Good luck.

  17. Whoa-d. Excellent set-up.

I'd go with the black Zulu. Really gives it that navy seal, black ops feel.......

......but then again, that dark gray really seems to match the tones in the PVD.

Either way, it's wayyyy cool bro!!

Hey J That is exactly what I saw in the two different looks!

I appreciate the input from everyone. I am leaning towards the dark grey/green strap. In real life it really does bring out the pencil lead colors of the watch and compliments it well.

  18. Look what I got this morning :whistling:]

    What an improvement!

    Thanks Chief :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Hey Sander - Spoke to Chief yesterday and he told me had sent yours out (I think he was trying to make me jealous - mine is still in the waiting stage)

Sure does look good and I like that you reset your Power Reserve to full were it should be...

  19. I might try to work a deal with the lab if the problem is on their end... Have them redo the cyclopes and do an AR on the crystals too... I dunno if it'll fly or even if it's their problem or not. But, generally, yea it's a start over at this point given the results. I could take a donor cyclops to try stripping the AR and evaluate what happens during the AR removal process.... If it's already attached to a crystal, that'd actually make life easier by giving me something larger to grab on to.

Additionally, for whatever it's worth Chief, when I closely examined the light reflecting off of the cyclops it appeared to be brightest on the surface of the cyclops. Don't know exactly what that means if anything, but I could definitely see the light source on the rounded edges (to each side) of the surface of the cyclops...

  20. My bet is: double side AR cyclops + single side AR crystal, only on the inner surface and most likely only in the cyclops'area.

    Just, I only bet $10. ;)

BTW, a purplish tint along the crystal border when viewed at a skewed angle might be just the sapphire.

Ssurfer -I wouldn't take a bet against you. I think you are right...

Chief, to get the crystal/cyclops the way you suggest with AR on one side of the crystal am I correct in assuming that you would have to double side AR a crystal, remove the AR from the top and affix an AR'd cyclops?

In other words, my no AR'd crystal with AR'd cyclops is of no value for further experiment with this? I will send it to you if you can use it, but if memory serves me correct, it looks like I have to start all over...
