  1. I absolutely love the Ulysse Nardin watches, but there don't seem to many reps around for this brand. Does anybody know why this is? In particular I'm really interested by the Maxi Marine line. If you know of where I can fine them I'd appreciate a pointer.

I haven't seen any good ones at all. I like the brand too, but I guess they're not mainstream enough for the repmakers to bother with.

  2. I just received the beautiful silver dial 6265 Daytona he offered for his freebie friday competition. Sorry, no pics yet, but very soon after I get a strap for it. I really don't think my pics would do this watch any justice. I can't wait to get it on my wrist.

Again, thanks to ubiquitous for his generosity!

  3. Thanks everyone. I went with PP Twenty 4, the one with the least diamonds. She already has a Gen TAG, so the PP should fit well with her other watches.

Hope you got the good version that SQL_PL did a review on. There are at least two different versions of that watch.

  4. Dear The Zigmeister,

I received an Omega SMP with the 28800 BPH Asian 7750. Normally when unscrewwing the crown you feel this 'popping' feeling when the crown is completely unscrewed. It then is in the hand winding position. I don't really feel this pop. The crown just unscrews and then it is in the hand winding position....

Now here's the real problem: When hand winding the stem 'slips'. I don't know what else to call it? I can wind it 1 or 2 turns and then it slips, doing nothing just turning. Winding, slipping, winding, slipping etc...

Is there something wrong with the movement. Everyhing works fine, chronograph, resetting, timesetting etc.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Mine does the same thing - put some slight pulling (away from movement) pressure on the crown while you're winding and it should hold.

  5. The only good thing about moissanite is that it tests positive as a diamond, but color-wise, CZ is much better (equivalent to a D color diamond). For a watch, I'd much rather have CZ than moissanite unless you're trying to impress a friend with a diamond tester.

There are also different qualities in the cut of CZ, so you may get CZ that looks like crap, but if it's cut right, it looks great.

  6. Here's a straight-on pic of mine to show the date alignment. The single-digit dates are more to the right - sorry I didn't get a pic of those and unfortunately my camera is out of batteries and I don't have the charger.

Regarding the movements being serviced, I think only TTK sells pre-serviced versions of this watch.

  7. My SMP chrono just came in today, and I was fortunate enough to have my bezel insert just pop off accidentally while I was trying to rotate the bezel.

I had just done a short waterproofing test by soaking the entire case in a container of water, then held it under a running faucet for a few seconds - I'm not sure if that affected the adhesive in any way.

Prior to that, I did try popping off the entire bezel with a screwdriver, but it didn't budge and instead left some small marks on the bezel.

For those who bought the watch with a misaligned bezel, you may want to try submerging it (with the movement removed of course).

  8. My most recent rep from King came in a nice-sized styrofoam box. The watch inside was bubble wrapped nicely and fit snugly inside the box.

My previous orders from King as well as Josh and Andrew came in an EMS cardboard envelope with a bunch of bubble wrap around the watch. My Eddie Lee purchases have come in a small cardboard box with the watch bubble wrapped inside.

Having heard of some users' horror stories with receiving watches with broken crystals, I'm pretty happy to see this amount of effort put into the packaging by King and Eddie Lee. I haven't ordered from Josh or Andrew recently, so I don't know how their current methods compare.

  9. I just received mine, and the date is just a tiny bit high. It doesn't bother me at all, but others may not be able to forgive it.

The only thing I'm going to do on this watch is to try to realign the bezel insert, change the strap to one I have that uses pushpins, and regulate the movement. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this watch.

BTW, how much is your dealer offering it to you for (Woody)?
