  1. All is well my friend. As you said, constructive criticism is always welcomed :0) I'll say again that I am basically a novice at this, so I do welcome all well intentioned comments and info. -And that I appreciate this board is centered around people helping each other.
  2. Here is another https://rolexhaven.com/6204-waffle-dial--53.html
  3. That pic was taken while under blacklight. As were these gens, that still glow like my pic https://rolexhaven.com/luminous-material.html This is a Gen Reference 6205 Radium Lume under UV light from 1954
  4. I did not do the initial build. The credit is due to the previous owner. I am still what I would call a novice in this arena. It has been discussed that it is most likely a MQ case and dial, gen service crystal, gen crown and tube. Hands are an aftermarket mix. All I did was have the dial corrected to have the correct 6 o'clock indices a lighter color per original, and swapped in the correct Phong supplied insert for this 1955 on year only red depth dial, and have the proper length hands installed. It has a Val24 eta clone movement which currently is keeping time within 2 seconds per day as reported by it's current owner. This is now the 'starter' or should I say 'gateway' rep for a friend who has indicated he is going to next go for a super rep with gen movement and will let this one go soon after he finds the next once he finds out what his tastes are, it will be a vintage rolex though. So if anyone is truly interested and has the cash on hand, this one will be available again in the near future supposedly. We'll see for sure if he'll let it go when the time comes, it has gotten a lot of wrist time and compliments :0)
  5. Holy smokes, that is one nice lineup! I could imagine if people sometimes used your pics and unknowingly represented them as gens to reference, that could introduce quite a bit of confusion. I think when something is posted for sale is when the most critical eyes will comment on it if they see something curiously not correct or questionable, otherwise they may not think to do the high magnification detailed analysis and comparison to a 'known' gen reference point.
  6. Well, those are amazing builds. No doubt they would have fooled many 'experts' Do you think they would fool the people on rolexforums.com? The thing that is usually the giveaway is the slight misalignments from one line to the next when compared to the originals that is the thing that I mentioned originally that I would like to see perfected.
  7. Ah, now I understand. I hope I wasn't coming off as too aggressive. There was no explanation of the pictures posted so I was curious about what the intention of the post was. Obviously, some clarification would be helpful.
  8. Yes I understand that he is a rightfully well-respected member here long-term. He has clearly made some amazingly fabulous builds. But none of that changes my question
  9. I'm not sure what that post was supposed to say? Is it your claim that these dials are in fact reprints and not original, and that they are perfect fakes and not detectable as reprinted? If so, obviously better pics are required and then you should post them on rolex forums to test that theory. Some Ground Rules: The dials have to be reprinted and not actually genuine dials You should post clear pics and proof you have access to these watches You should provide the source of the dial so it can be confirmed that these are truly available from a rep source This is of course all with the assumption that you are suggesting these dials are rep dials and have no obvious flaws. If this was not your intention, please clarify what your post was intended to suggest.
  10. I'm a BIG fan of the ETAs, especially the top grade. I've got 2 that run +/-0 in 3 of 4 positions and no worse than -4 in the worst position. Certainly within the +2/-2 best spec of the best Rolex today. I've got a few gen rolex, and a few higher end reps with gen movements. In my experience the gen 1570 is good but they are not as precise as the top grade ETA 2824 with the incabloc and glucydur But I would really like to see some more perfect dials. I suspect these will improve soon.
  11. I live close to HQ Milton. I'm very confident their watches are what they present them to be. They have quite a lot of loyal customers *I'm told* who trust them. Trust but verify. If they were to pass of 1 or 2 frankens, and get caught, their income stream in the near future would suffer greatly, and they know that. At a show it is buyer beware. It often takes some time to compare magnified hi res pics to known gen sources to find the best fakes, but it can be done. I'm still waiting for dial reprinters to get the alignments just right. I haven't seen that happen yet. But yes, of course, some people will try to cheat you if they can. I was sold 2 different 1680s, one white and one red, they were gen except for the rep hands. After being politely pointed out to the seller, he supplied me with gen hands he just happened to have in stock. I don't find it that difficult to post pics of claimed gen vintage rolex on rolex forums and see what they come back with. They may call out a gen as fake, but I've never seen a rep pass muster if it had a rep dial. Superfrankens with gen everything except rep case would be the hardest to catch, yes. But this assumes access and the $$$$ required for a gen dial. But honestly, who really has access to gen rare vintage rolex dials? You are going to have to pay tens of thousands for just the dial.
  12. Yes of course there are many more fake "wannabe experts" than real experts. And I have found through experience that they have very thin skin and reallllly do not like it when their false posts about knowing what is what is called out. My point was a watch made with mostly rep parts will not be able to pass as gen and I stand by that. Is that a real gen double red? If so, WoW! If I could pick only one vintage rolex it would be the double red.
  13. There is no problem buying genuine vintage if either A: You know what you are doing, or B: You buy it from a reputable source who knows what they are doing. The value of genuine vintage rolex just keeps going up. They are more and more highly sought after each day-hence the rising prices. Lots of people looking for places to invest are more and more each day turning to vintage rolex. There are plenty of people who know enough, or who can learn, to tell what is correct or not. I don't think there are any reps today that can withstand high quality pics posted of all angles and of the movement on Rolex forums and not be immediately called out- evidence that plenty of people know rep from gen. It is not a problem for the detail oriented educated buyer.
  14. Just got this back from lume-miester Kent Parks who lumed the hands to match the dial, and swapped the minute hand for the correct longer length, and Lumed the #6 the lighter color which Radium dials had at the time. Informative video here on this one year only 1955 dial:
  15. Yeah, that is why I posted the ebay link so people could get them while the can. Good find. Impressive performance.
  16. Dial up Dial down dial vertical is also +/-0 in one position and -4 max 180 degrees So 3 of the 4 positions on my timer are running +/- 0 and the worst is -3 to -4. Pretty amazing. $290 + $15 shipping on eBay if anyone wants one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143372330362?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=442851870290&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 I just bought another since this one is running so well.
  17. The Ruby dial is the closest and the one I'll go with if a better one is not available.
  18. I've not been able to find this dial MQ, Phong, Ruby, Yuki. I'm looking for this dial. Seems hard to fine. Might anyone know where I can get this or another 369 dial for 5513 that does not have big flaws?
  19. long time lurker, just signed up. So much good info.
