  1. Thanks for the photo rolexman.

No, mine doesn't look like this, it's one piece, pusher button on one end attached to a long stem, with 2 different diameter collars around the stem. It does not come apart - the pusher button won't come off the stem.

Also I was wrong, if you push it down it does not spring back..

I did not get a spring or seals, although I haven't opened up the caseback, maybe spring is rolling around inside case.

Anyway I have to contact the dealer and show him this photo, see what he says.

I love this watch, can't wear it. Don't even know where I can get it fixed once the correct parts come in, I'm not good mechanically.

Thanks again rolexman, really appreciate your help.

  2. Hi Rolexman, thanks much for responding.

I don't have a digicam available right now to show what I got but it's a one piece unit, on one end is the pusher button, then a stem, and a collar.

If you put the piece on end against a tabletop, and push down on the pusher button it goes down a bit, then springs back. I was not sent anything that looks like a seal.

Please tell me if I should be asking the dealer (Psychospike Ken) for other parts.

    Thanks so much.

  3. To add to the discussion, (maybe), here in Illinois we have a young state rep named Aaron Schock, who just had to resign in disgrace due to very questionable spending of constituents' tax dollars.

He's a fitness buff, was on the cover of Men's Journal showing off his 6 pack abs, and has an infamous IG account showing his fun filled life. Kinda inappropriate for a public official IMO.

He's also been photographed wearing a Panerai on the job. I find that interesting. To me it's the cool hip watch to wear right now if you're young and (were) successful.

  4. I know RBJ developed some health issues but, honestly he was so disorganized.

To this day I can't believe I sent him $250 cash along with my TT Sub for his "spa treatment".

When I didn't hear from him for a month I called him, he actually gave out his phone number. He took it very lightly, joking how he had packages in his living room stacked to the ceiling, no order in which ones he should work on first, and I'm thinking "you asked me to send cash to you and you don't even know if you received my package?"

Anyway, I finally got the watch back after 3 months and to be honest I wasn't impressed.

  5. Good question, panerai.

I guess it's a possibility that they decided to organize all shipments coming from Guangzhou to be routed through Chicago with a special team assembled to look for fakes.

But, from what I've read there is so much stuff being shipped from Guangzhou, legitimate items, that I think Chicago customs would be absolutely overwhelmed. Not practical.

A question that was asked of Toro on another forum but never quite answered, was, of all his shipments to the US, what percentage actually made it through Chi customs, we only hear about the ones getting nabbed. Maybe a lot of watches get through actually versus how many get confiscated.

Why only Chicago customs though (for now)?

BTW I live in Chicago and, after collecting reps for over 10 years this makes me very upset.

  6. Thanks for this, it just confirms what I've been reading from repair guys on the other forums. A bit depressing actually.

Prices keep going up, external execution of watches keeps getting more impressive, but the movements are unacceptable.

I don't know about you guys but I'm seriously beginning to slow down my rep purchases, I just can't reconcile the crazy prices with the condition of the movements.

  7. Update: my watch cleared Chicago Customs yesterday, thank you sweet Jesus.

Complete luck of the draw, it was only one watch, a Nautilus. I thought maybe because it's somewhat obscure but a Richard Mille got snagged recently.

Anyway, I'm relieved. Question is, how to proceed from here? There's a few more watches I'd like to acquire.

Talk to TD about Customs before ordering? Maybe they won't want to sell to me.

  8. Has anyone here been collecting reps for over 10 years?

My first rep was a Seamaster from Eddie Lee, from about 12 years ago and I honestly don't remember in what form I sent him the money.

I do remember talking to TTK Neil, and him telling me that some of his customers send cash through the mail.

    Now dealers accept CC, wild.

Sorry to take this off topic a bit.
