Hi IWC-people. One thing I don't get: in many seller's listing, IWC reps are often offered with double AR-coating and so on. I know and appreciate the concept of coating. But in other forums and in connection with other brands (i.e. Omega Speedmaster), such coating are seldom if ever discussed. Why? What's the difference? ole gunnar

I have read here that the so called Lemania movement used in several chronos, is a chinese rep. "Firstly the 'Lemania' movement in reps isn't a Lemania at all - it hasn't got anything at all to do with Lemania. This so-called 'Lemania' movement is actually a handwind Seagull two-register chronograph movement which is a Chinese copy of an old, Swiss Venus movement. The modern Seagull is rightly well regarded and is a very good movement...." My question is: Is there a way to get an original Lemania movement, and would it fit an Omega Speedmaster as does the copy Seagull one? Does anyone actually have one for sale? I would feel better if I had the gen abd perhaps I could replace it. Or is this just a silly idea? Thanks for comments. Will

As a newbie, I fear that may ask an old question: But I want to know if I can get a gen Rolex replacement for my ETA movement? (I got my Daydate (grey dial) from Jay in Silixprime and I am very pleased with it; I simply want to know the options). What is important to look out for? Does anyone have experience with such a replacement job? What should I expect to pay for the gen movement? Will a Rolex movement that was build for a gen Daydate fit straight into my Silix Daydate rep, or is that simply a naive assumption? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated :-) Will

I found this at Silix; a Rols chrono with a Lemania manual movement. Anyone know this model? Can't find any info or reviews on this. I like it tough, even if it seems somewhat obscure and unusual for the forum here. A second thing; does anyone know where to find a good Cellini Cestello rep? It seems that Cellinis does not have a high standing here, why I can't imagine. This Cestello I like an awful lot too. I want to give my son a Rols DayDate rep and present it in a smart box. (He knows it is a rep.) I feel this would increase the "value" of the gift, but I am not happy with the boxes Silix and other sells, as these - at least the ones I have seen - does not impress me much. (I only actually saw one rep Rols box which I returned). I would be willing to cash out at least 25 GBP to get a decent wooden box, as I can find on eBay, but even if they are really nice items, they do not have the Rolex Logo. The Logo is not essential, either, but it would be very interesting to hear if anyone have found a good solution? How to present a rep in the best possible manner? What is your view? Will

Thanks for input. I understood the De Ville isnt popular here, since most members appear to go for large (or frankly oversized) watches. I personally think a PO 45mm appears highly disproportionate on an ordinary man's wrist. To me, that's not a watch but realestate! Its a matter of taste, but I dont read such watches as masculine, but rather as a emblem of insecurity in an unstable and unpredictable world. Of course, there are fashions in watch styles, as in everything. I had a 27 mm postwar Tudor Prince once, and it was a beauty, even for its small size. So size is not everything, as in other situations .-) And besides, 37,5 is only 0,5 mm less than most Rolex watches, which is popular enough. Is it something with Omega people? I shall certainly try to write a preview and read on ways to protect the plating. BTW, why the Asian 21J movement? Is that superior to the ETA 2824? How? Thanks, Will

As a newbie, I am honestly surpised that none of the wise members of this forum have actually had any experience with the Omega De Ville Chronometer? How can this be? When I posted a photo and asked for comments or hints of this model, there were no replies. Did I say something wrong, or is this model so unique? I have never actually seen it reviewed, only the Bi-axel chronometer or whats it?, but never this model. What can I do? Hi, I am impressed with the simple elegance of this rep. (OMG0076 - De Ville Rose Gold White - Swiss ETA 2824) But Im not sure about it's flaws and faults? Can anyone help with a review or comment? Thanks, Andy, but your words do not cheer me up the least. I had high hopes for this rep, but now it appears that it is full of flaws! How can a producer call anything a true 1=1 rep if it still has a lot of errors? I know it's possible to change the datewheel. Where and how can I do that? What other modifications do you recommend? And what about the wrong logo on the back, that should read "CO." and not "Co."? Is this fixed or what? Anyone knows this? Will

It's good to have a realistic view of the new Ingy. And perhaps I should not expect too much? Still, it is supposed to be a true 1 to 1 rep. So how come you feel the need to change the datewheel? Is this a matter of taste or is it still misaligned like it always was? And are you 100 % sure that you actually got the latest model with the double AR? I would be pleased if you got an earlier model and my new Ingy would be perfect (well at least closer than all the previous models). Will Any photos would be greatly appreciated...

I have just ordered my new Ingy SS with the double AR from Jay. Supposedly this is the latest and a 1 = 1 rep. I heard there were several flaws in the previous models, like misaligned bezel, short hands, wrong datewheel, fonts, etc. My question is simply: does anyone have any hands-on experience with the new issue? And what about the movement, how does it compear to the gen, and how inferior is it? I suspect the ETA-2824 is the "economic" issue, but how does it differ in practical terms to the gen. IWC movement. Any ideas? Will Gunnars
