Have a look at hirsch straps on watchbandcentre, the duke is pretty good, also Rios straps have a very good cut. There's also a seller on ebay called timepiecerepublic who does deployant straps, not perfect but much better than the low grade rep straps. If you want a much better strap then guys like peter.watchacc (search google he's on tz forums) do really good quality omega deployant straps, they aren't cheap though.
-
Nice one, the watch looks really good, I always find the railmaster really striking in a low key sort of manner. I don't think it's the old superrep which is a shame they are not available anymore, but it looks great, and on a better strap will complement it nicely.
-
on the caseback, it would be exactly like something the factories would do, that would be kinda funny though in a tragic sort of way.
-
How they managed that I have no idea, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, overall the back of the watch bears hardly much resemblance to gen anyway, but at the same time it was shoddy, the only thing I can think of is they were/are using the same caseback for a blue LM prototype and they decided to cut a few corners and it was kept as a 'best fit' for all. ?

Hi importer, just looking at it and realizing the gen pictured above is 45mm and the rep qc is 42mm on that. How I always tell 45mm from 42mm in pics (it took a while for me to realise) and its fairly obvious when I thought about it ...is to forget the bevelled window which is not aways easy to see in certain angled shots, but use the distance of the date window from the marker as a guage. The 42mm is almost right ontop of the marker, the 45mm has that extra couple of mm gap. Anyway few minor gripes as you say, the dial is also not as 'sheeny' matte as the gen (if sheeny is a word ) but it still looks a well built watch. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. Also just a couple of things noted from rg now that more qc pics are available.
-
Some people mentioned the pearl over on the other forum, it's not actually as bad as some think, and the tilt of some qc pics can make it deceiving, it looks much better placed than 5th gen, although still a little bigger than gen. Edit: Gen for reference:

Was with a different watch entirely Rolexman, an AP, didn't think it was relevant here ...was just joking on that earlier. All these look good, just check the locations of pearl etc. Reason why I didn't upload all pics was there are too many of them There will be plenty of people dissecting these when they get them in their hands, for now you see what I see above.
-
Both those are 42mm. (These aren't all for me ) The 45mm actually is a tad better looking on the pearl etc, better stop now and actually check the QC, Andrew will be giving me warnings . 45mm
-
Small Issue was with a different watch these are the 42mm btw, just a teaser, forgot to upload any 45mm but exactly same, may even have better placed smaller pearl Andrew was the dealer!
-
A couple of QC teasers! Looks very good! Bit of glare off the crystal, lots of reflections in the area though! Look amazing really, I'm happy, all in all bezel looks great, except for one minor thing which I'm not sharing

That's a really good summation P of the craziness of the auction format, it is simply amazing the psychology around how people will react when bidding against someone or a group of people. I've seen items (2nd hand) bid up to ridiculous levels, well above the true price or even close to new price depending on the item, ...just because bidders get involved in the heat of the moment. I remember about 6 months ago, I was keeping an eye on some nos gen speedmaster pro cases from the well known aussie supplier on there. There were about 8 of them all ending at an odd time, like 2am GMT and staggered within 5 minutes of each other. Now I knew there would be interest so I kept an eye on the first and as expected lots of action, so I let it go, the 2nd a little less and so on. I came very close to getting the forth unexpectedly, but it was just above my asking price. Then they went up again on the next and started coming down again after, and I got the 7th one (2nd last). The price was just over £200 for an NOS speedmaster case (retails about £600). When looking back at the previous auction end prices it was ridiculous, ...the first went for 2.5 times the price of the one I managed to pick up, all the later ones, when the dust settled and the die hard bidders were bled off were all much cheaper. Sometimes people can be really predictable on there!
-
Yep, sniping is the way to go, I do agree somewhat with jkay though that setting your max and sticking to it helps keep you from getting 'involved' with the bidding process and going too far, but in some cases you get done for a $1 as mentioned above, and that can be really frustrating. Tbh best way, is have a target, have a sniping tool do the business late so as not to have human bidders get too emotionally involved winning the bidding process and push up the price out of normal in those last 20 minutes. This is a significant problem on there, it's surprising how many human bidders feel the need to win the bidding 'competition', and go further than they planned, when you leave your input till late, someone who thinks they have sole control is less likely push at the price. Also look for stuff at obscure ending times midweek, when traffic is low. Checking misspelled auction helpers can be useful in certain cases also. ...fckin ebay is right!

Good info, thanks Rolexman!

I did similar just picked up the 45mm for a look at it, bit chunky for me that one, but still want a look at it! A does take pp also.
-
Yep, just Josh's are easier to find.
-
Yep order away, 42mm $328 and 45mm $338, last page (page 10 i think) on the planet ocean section on Andrews site. They are the very last (newest I guess) 5 watches.

So am I rolexman, glad they at least had a go than avoid it due to opencaseback, too many people nitpicking inhouse movement details on rep movements these days or requesting only watches that have closed caseback because of same. We are gonna end up with a very selective set of closed caseback replicas if we go down that route exclusively. Open casebacks are only becoming the norm so as long as the front is good I'm happy with just a half decorated rotor.

Sorry guys forgot people can't see pics, should be up on trustys also. I put them on imgur. http://imgur.com/a/yK7DY

Wow! Almost speechless! I'll let the pics speak for themselves! Looks like we won't need any mods!
-
It's from BP factory and the 42mm are out first then 45mm shortly after. By all accounts it will be a superrep, bracelet is excellent looking and superlume is meant to be spot on. Ok the nitpickers will go on about movement but I'm happy if they get the front right. AR looks ok to me, need more pics to be sure, make what you want of this:

Yep, not noob, not sure who, but definitely not noob...and Andrew kept this quiet , Angus/noob was/were very tight lipped about these from noob over the past few months for a reason! This also looks good from an AT point of view. ...the first thing that did pop out at me was the dw is a little weak, typical rep dw, ..but at least it's replaceable if need be, and pearl will be interesting when we have a closer look, ...but at same time, the watches look outstanding, the dial/hands and bezel look very good and they will be fully superlumed also. Don't know a whole lot about the AR off hand. It will be really interesting to see the caseback! First impressions are really positive on this. And with need more pics More details and specifications and 1:1 comparison pics will be out soon enough.

Wildwest on the sales thread, your thoughts?

Gettin the payment system up and running again smoothly should sort alot of things out. Maybe I wasn't paying too much attention and maybe there is an increase in scam attempts but it helps to keep a balance. The sales section here can look fairly sedate compared to RG/RWI that's why I was wondering what was happening. Definitely an increase in dodgy stuff even in those heavily moderated sales sections but still alot of sales traffic so bound to be more. Just keep your wits about you and as in every 2nd hand buying/selling situation if things don't feel right/too good to be true, don't bother, always another chance will come along. Works most of the time -

I don't see the big issue tbh, some of the other forums were dealing with a fair few scammers of late, and they are moderated to the hilt. I guess I come from the take that only so much hand holding can be done, and I think this place is pretty well controlled anyway. Nobody wants to be scammed or see it happening, but I do think buying or selling these days has a certain higher degree of hazard than it used to anyway, so it is more of a case of buy the seller/vet the buyer type issue than ever before....this may be more a sign of the times and the massive amount of new recruits to the rep scene anyway. -
Plenty of info on the crown/tube swap, just do a search "tube swap" and you'll find dozens of threads... it is doable if you are comfortable inside the case but maybe better to leave to a watchmaker or modder just to be sure. Lots of modders on the forums it just depends where you are based. Also no need to do the mod until the stock tube actually causes trouble, it may never cause trouble so you could be fine, its just a known issue that it may weaken and strip threads over time. Some people like to get these things out of the way sooner rather than later, but many do it while in the process of doing other mods, i.e. dial swap/relume/crystal swap etc.

Lovely jtiis, always enjoy looking at the chocolate speedy, and the modded gemini is a better looking watch than the official release. Almost sorted on my silver dial and gemini mods, although it took a while to acquire the parts.
