Hand Removers should DIE! (was: Keyless works should DIE!)
cougar1 replied to fraggle42's topic in General Discussion
Take all the hands off in one go with those presto pullers, not too sure they work well for removing hands individually, need levers for that. -
They are not too bad, but can't help think they are a bit all over the place. Some of the dials are far too cluttered/busy and they can't make up their mind if they are using painted or raised logos now? Seems both, and then they make the omega logo smaller to fit in all the additional shiite on the dial The older versions are cleaner and less busy and more balanced looking. Still I wouldn't say no to one of those new additions. +1 on that wierd He valve, it's taking them away they should be, not making them bigger!

I'm hoping it is more laureus ingy than sub V2 Should know soon enough! Needless to say this is one rep that will be scrutinized to the death when it comes out, so many people waiting for it and so many gen owners on forums etc feedback will be massive, and thorough.

I agree keyless are a pain in the tiits. I feel even when you've done it a 100 times there are just times when it pops that you feel like tearing your hair out and have to walk away. Also the keyless can be very finicky and temperamental on some reps for no apparent reason, bad cloning on some, loose or not smooth even when it is intact. It doesn't help that with some reps stems can be cut badly out of the box, which puts the Kw under more stress. -
Shouldn't be too far away now, looking pretty good! We are close

Noob factory Ceramic PO and LM LE. (LM due for Release.)
cougar1 replied to cougar1's topic in The Omega Area
It is not even about looking for improvements though, it's about getting main parts up to basic rep quality that we all ready see out. Get the dials to basic BP factory 45mm PO CrPO straightness and then it is as good as can be. All this talk about vs gen is ludicrous. Many of the dials straightness) were not up to the quality of lesser reps (the CrPO 45mm). As said its a dial hole issue, not a "gen-like feel" issue I'm not trying to pick fights in this, just been in the rep game a long time and see the improvements in past couple of years, that means I call out a problem if I see dial issues that look like a $100 rep from years ago on a current $300/$400 high quality rep. Congrats red on the watch, glad you got a good one, but still for the 1 or 2 (maybe 3) out of 10 that are passing qc, we still need a quick update on clearing the backlog soon and getting a better pass rate on this from noob. -

I disagree, respectfully sunny, we are all aware of the reality of reps in comparison to gen. In this instance we have a truly outstanding rep, and the release is completely marred by the simplest of issues, drilled dial holes ffs. I do agree with you that the basic rep level of the PO has come on leaps and bounds since the last v5/UPO 3 years ago, but that is why the dial issue is such a disappointment, improve everything..... everything...AR/endlinks/clasp/lume/bezel/pearl/case/He/crown/logos etc and then fall short on the most basic finishing touch, crooked markers. As said on another thread, this is a very very simple issue to correct, and it is now affecting sales and pissing people off who are involved in 5 or 6 qc rejects over the past month, ....noobs loss I guess, do they care, probably not. It's like this, complain and we might get it corrected sooner rather than later, don't complain and say 'ah its a rep' and they will happily use the same dial drillers for the next 6 months-year+ etc. Some are not so bad in batch 2, much better than the first batch which were awful, but they still need work, and its not just the 1 and 2, its lucky if just that, it is more often 1 and 2 and the 9 marker 12 marker and the logo etc.....this could be a superrep, but most people are holding off, and for good reason. Look at the BP 45mm ti and ss, do you see many dial rejects due to crooked markers on those? No, because they used a sub contractor who could drill the dial holes straight. As mentioned on another thread, this is not a rep QC vs gen QC issue, straight markers are not beyond the ability of the rep factories. To be honest I'm surprised at some of the comments over on the thread on RWI, it seems we must not complain about a $400 rep with basic fixable flaw! There is no incentive for the factories to fix it if we don't! Also most people don't seem to be aware of how awkward it is to home fix polished markers/numerals/logos on a polished dial, so they need to be good out of the factory. -
Used to be able to go there on occasion and browse around the place, was sort of like an abandoned ship, seems it has sunk, is it down for good now? http://www.replicacollector.com/members/index.php?showtopic=31870&st=0

That's great mdiaz, mike will do a top notch job, should be great after, yours is one of the better ones I've seen so far. Thanks for the qc pics of the sides and back also, most are just posting dials on other forums ...the case work on these,... brushing/cuts lines etc look really good on this rep, very close to gen. -
That looks great Gran, must get you to do my QC if I pick one up ...I think all these 4.1s look pretty good, some are saying minimal improvements over 3.5, but that is if compared to an absolute top notch 3.5. Obviously many have a poor memory, as this was an example of some of the shiite that was on offer for a few months at the start of the year, 4.1 is a huge upgrade imo:

Looks pretty good mdiaz, wondering if the dw is a little high but the watch has one of the better dials, not perfect but better than many. The caseback looks normal also, plastic stuck to the dots, should be ok. -
Favor request for any gen 39mm AT or Railmaster owners (RE: case no.)

Omega Seamaster 300m Ceramic Black - A review (finally)
cougar1 replied to a topic in The Omega Area
Khashayar, you could try popping off the bezel with a knife, once you have access to the inside it is very easy remove all pearl glue with a pin and just slide down the pearl and reglue flush.....however be really careful using the knife method, easy slip and ruin hands (your hands ) or case, tape up everything and go slow and work your way around creating a gap between bezel and case, as it gets bigger the whole bezel should pop off. Usual method is to use something like an exacto knife to get a slight gap then move up to something thicker until bezel pops off. -

Good work bamcky, looks great, it was similar to the old PO V5 when they first came out, protruding pearls etc, some can be more stubborn and glued more stubbornly than others but they all push down flush. Getting the bezel off gives more control, but that itself can be a bugger for someone not used to removing omega bezels. Definitely worth doing. Interested in seeing this blue one when it arrives madmex, keep us posted. -
Honestly this potential speedy from the modded subdial a7750 has been talked about as far back as 2009 (2008 even) ....when the actual movement came out on the PO chrono the dealers were even saying back then it's being made, it's on the way etc. ...Here we are 4 years later, make of that what you will! Agreed, This is a big issue and is hardly ever talked about compared to the subdial spacing....the gen is significantly thinner case profile than all the current reps....or even what is possible with the modded a7750. Yeah, it was one of the possibilities they were looking at at the time afaik. Remove the auto wind module and shrink it down but they then came up against the idea of using an a7750 based movement as a full manual wind, unfortunately it not being the most robust movement for continuous winding like the lemania/st19 etc seemed like a big issue. I just think they ran into too many roadblocks and it was scrapped. At the time though it was talked about like the release was due within a few months of the PO chrono. It would be nice if they revisited something similar in the future. There are some lovely tricompax speedy dates they could do also without too much bother. ****Disclaimer not sure the above is 100% true but this is what I gather happened that infamous speedy superrep we are still waiting on.

Excellent Khashayar, great great review, thanks for the nod, I must say you're my mentor at the moment trying the gen of this and comparing to rep and putting up these reviews etc, great info! These are the best pics of the watch I have seen so far, definitely a huge improvement on smps we've seen in the past. Great details on the watch/bracelet also, looking like a great purchase! Also those pearls can be pushed down flush if necessary or even replaced with gen pearl, the bezel and dial look great though so it is a minor detail. Thanks for taking the time! -
Great stuff, looking forward to it, lemme know how the crown screws in on this one also Enjoy the watch.

Agree on the new subs, I could never get over the fat hideous lugs, they are still a nice watch vs say a Graham but the 16610 was the final of a classic for me. The ceramics are surprisingly popular though.

Some nice pics from ericb196 over on Rwi/Rg, not sure he is on here so just thought I'd add them here for anyone who has not seen them. It really looks good, when the dial mishap is fully corrected (shouldn't be too difficult ) ...it should then be a cracker, this one looks great! -
Hope so, could be a good sign. Long time no see Gran, good to see you back!
-
Madmex how is the crown/tube screwdown quality on yours? Still no clear view here on this here, a couple said it was 'iffy' ..i.e. one or two short turns, a couple of others said it was fine and solid. Keep us posted you two still think this is a great looking watch and not seeing much feedback.

I'm wondering about this as well, what is the reason for this? I thought they were usual standard 2824 clones ...ala V5 PO/UPO etc. Wonder if they used a batch with low cannon pin/hour wheel or do the hands wrong or is that the standard clearance? It does looks way to close, lots of potential binding problems. Edit, okay see what you mean it is the dial clearance itself, dial sitting too high? -

They are improving a little, someone else post new qc over on other forum, much better, 9 marker a little skew but much better than first lot overall: -

Disappointing, only seeing this now. I seriously hope this wonky dial marker problem is a small batch, corrected quickly and not going to be an ongoing issue. Reminds me of BP qc, but a little worse. Shame to put such great work into the watch and then mess up on the most obvious part. ...more reason why I hate getting involved in this whole preorder/first batch stuff too often, it never seems to go smoothly.
