  1. Thanks Andy. I think that is really what I did...I didn't really shake it like a 'mad cow' as Andrew wanted. With the watch on my wrist I twisted my wrist back and forth for several minutes.
  2. Pugwash, you weren't joking.... It was EXTREMELY hard to push after a certain point almost to the point of...oops I think I pushed too hard ...with a huge CLICK! It quickly came alive and then stopped and reset right at 12:00 with full firm presses and clicks of the buttons! [are the gens like this also??] I couldn't be happier. Thank you thank you thank you! I found early on that the date cannot be set during those times but thanks for that advice. Do you know about setting the time counterclockwise? I just read on a site "Care must be taken not to move the hands counterclockwise too far as they may go past midnight into the previous day and damage the date or moon-phase mechanisms." Is this true for the watches with 7750 or 7750b1?
  3. Yeah HikeUSA, I heard that the chronos are quite problematic with the 7750s that is the main reason I wanted to make sure I took every step correctly to have them working. If indeed they are non functional, what steps are recommended...should I contact the dealer?...should I look into repairing it?..will it harm the rest of the watches functionality? I don't intend to use the chronos a whole lot although I would at least like it to work when called upon for the first time out of the box. I am not sure if it is related but the bezel turns smoothly with the red arrow from 9 down to 3 but it is very hard to turn past in either direction. I did not want to force it and I am content with it where it is at but just curious. Oh...and..is it ok when setting the time [or date] to go backwards (counterclockwise)? Example: if it is 10:00 and I need to set it to 9:00 just roll the hands back to the needed time. I have heard that it can damage the date mechanism if turned too far back in time.
  4. Thank you both for the information. I saw that info on Trusty's site while shopping around but forgot where I saw it at. It is very helpful to a newcomer in this hobby so I must say thanks to you and also to Andrew for writing it up. The watch I received was not running when I received it however it started to run after putting it on my wrist and moving about. I followed the instructions carefully for pulling the crown and winding the watch as mentioned in the tutorial. I did not set the date since it was already at the correct day. I also shook the watch like a 'mad cow' for about three minutes after winding the watch for power reserve as it was said I should do before using the stopwatch feature. Unfortunately I did not make it any further as the hand never moved when the start/stop buttons were pressed. I followed the guide very carefully. Is there something I am missing or is there a trick to starting the stopwatch? Looking for a little guidance...please help!
  5. I just received my late Christmas present in the form of a Bentley Motors from River. It is my first automatic watch and I really dont know much at all about the movements or operations. This model has the 7750 with seconds at 9. Can somebody please point me to a user/operator/instruction manual for these watches? I feel like a total n00b asking but I dont want to break anything yet! I am looking for a guide on how to set the time/date, wind the watch, when to wind the watch and how to use the chronos. All help is very appreciated. Once up and running, I will post up some pics along with a review. Thanks!
  6. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a lady datejust and wanted to get some feedback on how the diamond hour markers look on the reps as well as the two-tone color. Anybody out there with them please let me know how they look. I dont usually care for fake stones on reps but I figured that only the hour markers may not be so bad. I am also looking for opinion on the two-tone color. Any recommendations who might have a better version would be very helpful, too. It looks like most of our dealers have the datejust for slghtly over $200. Are there any major differences between the models that the dealers carry? Thanks
  7. Great info Andreww. This makes me alot more confident ordering now! Good to know about the 6.75s. I am still deciding between the Motors and 6.75. I really like the 6.75 with the big date but it is commanding hefty price where I see the Motors going for over $100 less in some cases. The Bentleys I want are all white faced. Any thoughts on the coloring of the white faced Bentleys? I hear they are a tad on the creamy side and totally look like it from the pictures posted by the dealers.
  8. @freddy333- I like the Dior and that is totally the style she usually goes for. @ doug- the Tanks are fantastic but she doesnt like too much going on on with the watch face. She like simple clean lines and only stick or diamond markers. I think all the roman numerals are too much for an otherwise super sexy watch! @r11co- I totally agree with you on the size thing. I like the Omega but you are right it is a bit 'different'. Thanks everybody for the great suggestions. It is always so hard to pick the 'one' that maybe I'll have to get two! Much better chances of getting one she'll like this way.
  9. Forgive the noobish question, but are the current Navitimers and Bentleys the same as the ones reviewed last year by members here such as By-Tor? I am fairly new to reps and after enough reading to make my balls ache, I haven't come to the conclusion whether there are updated models or not floating around from our trusted dealers. It seems that they all carry the same models, however, one of the dealers currently listed a sale stating 'clearing out old stock' and it got me thinking. Is there a chance of purchasing an 'older model' rep currently from our dealers? I have my eyes on a Bentley Motors or 6.75 and a Navi. From what I am reading, the most important feature lately on the better reps is the new Asian 7750 and a light AR is this correct?
  10. I have seen the two-tone Stainless Steel bands and cases on the Bentley GT and Motors T but how about on the 6.75? Is this available... on the Gen or Rep? Even if not on the Gen...I want one!! I really like the brushed and polished look. Classy and sporty at the same time...kinda like a 'mullet'. Also, does anybody know how long the 6.75 has been in production...Gen or Rep? I am just getting into Breitlings and am curious regarding their history.
  11. I like Omegas ladies stuff. I also like the ladies Rolex but I am afraid she has a mental block towards them... she says they look like 'old-lady' watches and remind her of her Grandma. I am sure if I got her one, though, she would eventually love it as it would smoke anything in her current collection. I am leaning toward the Omega or Tag Senna.
  12. The wifey actually does like the teency little watches. She has several now that are just not cutting it anymore and I would like to get her into finer timepieces, reps of course. She doesnt care too much for Rollies although I think they are growing on her! The topic you linked to is just what I needed. I see a nice Omega that looks great, the DeVille. Any thoughts on it...Gen and Rep? This is a great link! I like the Cartier. What model is it? http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage....0&selected= Thanks for the super quick replies. Glad to see I am not the only one without better things to do!! (j/k) This is the BEST thing to do!! I swear, the chase has been so much fun to this point, I cant wait to get a couple quality reps on my wrist.
  13. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on my first rep (likely a Breitling Bentley 6.75) and would also like to order a watch or two for my wife. She has extremely petite wrists and hands and likes clean, classy, modern styling. I was thinking Patek Phillipe 24 but it may be too wide for her after seeing one at my local AD. I have seen some very thin Gucci and Tag reps with diamonds that looked nice. I need help! I know that there are other nice watches for the ladies that I haven't run across yet at our dealers. Any suggestions?
  14. Hello everyone! Just stopping in to say hi. Yes, another Floridian -and a native at that! I am really glad to find nice communities like this one. I was so close to getting scammed! Been looking for a nice Breitling rep for a while and I'm glad I wasn't trigger happy. My head is still spinning with all the reading and research I have done recently. With all the great knowledge from this site, I am sure to find my dream rep (or should I say reps)! I hear the Bentley 6.75 is a good one. Any thoughts?
