  1. I posted this in another section but this is probably the more appropriate place for it.

    As per the title -

I bought an Assioma off Joshua and can't adjust the bracelet size. I bought a watch tool kit and tried the pin removal tool and it gets stuck half way so I dont want to force it anymore for fear of breaking the bracelet.

Has anybody adjusted one of these. Tell me how!

    Pics attached -

The Bracelet (note thats where the pin gets stuck, I havent used excessive force to push it through though) -

  3. I'm heading overseas in Sept and want to buy either a GMT/Dual Time watch. It can't be a mainstream expensive brand like Rolex/Omega etc because I don't want to be a mugging target (i'll be in third world countries, travelling solo) Panerai, IWC etc probably wouldn't be as easily recognised by a petty criminal.

Looks don't really matter as it's just for the trip, just something reliable, splash resistant, and not overly expensive (under US$250) Rep/Gen.

    Your experiences/recommendation?

  4. As The Zigmeister just pointed out the thing that grabbed me was the claim of being serviced by a watchsmith, you should find out who it was because something is not right about a movement running so fast when it is fresh back from a service.

    Ken

It should be noted in the for sale section that if a watch is advertised as being serviced, that a receipt or reference be given in the advertisement.

It's far too easy to say that a watch has been serviced and potential buyers are none-the-wiser.

I'm not suggesting that this happened in the case but i'm sure it does happen.

  5. Goto TRC and you will find threads about MJRJewellers aka Marc Ross. He's bad news-he scammed several TRC members including myself. You will not get what you paid for most specially if you're paying for his so called "modded" reps. You're better of with TTK, EL or River. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    TS B)

Marc Ross attempted to scam me, I sold my EL TW Best gold president with genuine box set etc to him, he paid by paypal and then did a charge-back as soon as he recieved it. After three months of going through the postal service and paypal the charge back was reversed and I got my money back.

His paypal address was mjr_phd@sbcglobal.net at the time, and i've still got his Solon, OH address.

PM me for it if you like.

  6. I recently sold my Fiddy to another RWG member and the information I had given him regarding the piece was as follows -

Yep has AR Coated Sapphire Crystal, and Sapphire Crystal caseback too. Real Swiss 6497 Mov't with swan neck dagger.

This is identical to what I was told by the dealer I bought it off, however the buyer has taken the watch to his watchmaker who advised that neither the front or back are Sapphire and the movement is not a Genuine ETA movement.

I want to make things right with the buyer, can anyone shed some light on this? Will a davidsen sapphire crystal fit properly, and can a Gen. ETA movt be put into it? Or is it a case of refunding in full?

Here are some pics of the piece in question.

  7. When I was there a few years ago (before I found RWG) I went to the Ismailovski Markets, its out of the city centre but easily accessible by train or taxi. There were quite a few rep sellers there, I bought a few which after finding RWG etc I found them to be cheap crap, but I only paid about $50 each for them, cant comment on whether or not they have the quality we see on here as at the time I had no idea what to look for.

  8. are you in first class or business class? i just flew home from germany on Lufthansa, and i didnt even have a tv let alone the internet!!!! cute flight attendants though ;)

Yeah last time I was on a Lufthansa 747 there were crap old TV's on the roof spaced along the middle and the thing shook and rattled like nothing had been tightened since it was made in the 70s! Plus the food left a lot to be desired. Singapore Airlines and Emirates are my fav.

  9. In Andrews defence, I can understand why he did what he did, as pretty much every dealer from time to time has to deal with people trying to charge-back etc. We've never met each other before and he doesnt know me from a bar of soap.

He is still in my opinion one of the best dealers around and I have no hesitation in recommending him, I will no-doubt order from him in the future but will use Western Union to avoid any problems like this.

  10. Ok guys, back on topic.

Have just returned from a trip to see who lives at the Main Beach addy.

Knocked on the door, was opened by an elderly gent, asked for P*** R******, and was told - "Doesn't live here, ( a pause). We don't know him"

    So I departed.

But it seemed and felt a bit suss.

A lot of these Hi Rises, have managers... this unit ( No. 1) gave a feeling that it was the unit managers residence ( More lived in)... although there was no signage nominating a managers contact on this block.

Could it be another resident using the manager as a drop off point?

I had a look at the letter boxes for all the units, not too many were marked, and no name even remotely similar.

This area has a high transitory population, and a lot of the units would be holiday letting.

So.... drew a blank, and have no further ideas how to try to track the elusive Mr R*****

    Clue guys????

    Offshore

You mustn't have gone to the correct address as it is a high security, gated complex. The managers residence is not accessible without gaining access to the complex, only the security gatehouse and they will not confirm/deny that any given person lives there as thats their job. The letter boxes are completely unaccessible unless you have a residence' security fob, no letter boxes are named.

If you want to make another trip to verify this, the complex is called "Liberty"

  11. Guys i've only just come across this thread and would like to make an attempt to clear my name.

Im not sure why Andrew said that I have completely ignored him and I am about to contact him and ask that my personal details be deleted from this post. I was not contacted once about him posting my details on forums.

As the emails below say, I bought a few things with paypal and hadnt updated my bank details, hence when paypal went to deduct the money it came back rejected, the funds I sent to Andrew were from my credit card so they weren't affected by this issue, however they put a hold on the funds that were sent to Andrew because they thought it was suspiscious (they were still in his account however he couldn't take them out of his paypal account)

This was explained in the emails below, I have since re-verified my account with paypal which should have removed the restriction on my funds with Andrew, I have not heard from him since.

The money was never reversed back into my account so if Andrew is claiming that I reversed the payment im going to have to contact paypal and find out where the money is.

In the meantime, as I offered in the email, I will send the same amount via western union and take the risk that the original funds may never be retrieved back to me.

I had no intention of scamming anybody and im very upset that my name has been slagged on these forums.

I have had excellent dealings with one of the mods on this forum (Kenberg) and thank him for his words of support.

Andrew, if you read this, check your emails.

    Thanks

    Paul

Below is a copy and paste from my mail box regarding the situation.

    Hi Andrew,

Im terribly sorry for keeping you in the dark, im in the middle of

    moving house

and havent had full computer access.

The reason this has happened was because I bought a few things using

    paypal but

had the charges deducted from a bank account which I had closed, it was an

oversight on my part and will be rectified as soon as i have full computer

access again. (im on my pda at the moment)

Rest assured your funds will be made available to you as soon as possible, if

there are any problems doing this I will send the same amount to you via

western union. I have no intention of causing you any problems or disruptions.

Again im terribly sorry for this inconvenience.

    Paul
