  1. I got this winder this week and it's pretty impressive. I travel a lot and most winders are too bulky to pack along. It's damn quiet and a pretty cool departure from the standard type of winder. It's a bit pricey at about $300 but... It's an Orbita so at least they have one of the best reputations.

  2. jesus, get a life, dont you guys have better things to care/[censored] about?

if you got to much steam to blow off, why dont you write your local governor a letter telling him what you dislike about his politics?

Yes, well... Don't you have better things to care/[censored] about? :g:

I could cut the irony with a knife  Let's not get too carried away with this. Some of us really don't like to have the GD watch discussions populated with "off topic" and non-watch rep issues. The self proclaimed "voice of reason" does not bode well with ending the thread "peaceful like". i.e. just because breaking the posting rule does not bother you does not mean it does not bother others.

  3. Maybe the mod in question (me) didn't realise that he was reading the thread in GD (we are no infallible) and maybe the thread did not get moved because you didn't bother to point it out to him.

Fair enough :black_eye: . I figured it would be moved soon enough since I left a post on it suggesting it was "off topic". :whistling:

  4. Where I live, pearls are cheap, cheap, cheap... When I visit back in the US I bring my family members strings of beautiful pearls and they LOVE them. Women here where I live (on an island in the South China Sea) don't have any interest in them

You have good taste in the choice of pendant design though.

  5. The thing that impressed me is that all of the watches I own from our better dealers -- Rolexes, Omegas, Tags, Breitlings -- look every bit as good as the real ones at Tourneau, including the couple of gold-plated Rollies I own.

I must say there was a time I would have agreed with you. I have an LV rep which has been moded... massaged etc. and It's a fine looking piece. Compared to my gen LV it's dull though. The sparkle and shine of the gen vs. the rep are WORLDS apart on the wrist.

That's not to say that the reps are of poor quality or that the casual or even pre-WIS would be able to pin them as reps... The reality is that the gen has more pop. $5000 more pop...? well... that's another discussion :bleh:

  6. Strange dynamics. I live here my (China) and I buy my reps from dealers on this site via my USA address ;) Good watch reps are too hard to find. Wallets, bags etc. are easy to come by though.

DW won't even sell me a watch unless he sends it to USA address... he won't ship to my China address...

  7. I am in the market for a new digital camera. It has certainly been brought to my attention after viewing so many great photos on this board that mine is junk. I would like a mid to upper level camera (for what that's worth) but would not like to spend more than $1000 U.S. for it.

I have two questions for the group:

    1. Any recommendations for a good camera under $1000?

    2. The board seems to have a great connection with many in China, Japan, and Korea. For that reason does anybodys know of a way to by a camera more directly than going to my local electronic store and paying a huge markup?

Thanks for your help, this need of a new camera is of course all of your fault anyway. ;)

    Regards

While I currently live in China, I buy my electronics in the USA ;) Unless I get lucky in HK I find the lowest prices in the good ole USA :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. I understand... every person is a different human being..

Although instead of being on the safe side, some times you should be more spontaneous.. After all the small crasy stuff are that really matter in life ;)

On the other hand I am a so called artist so don't trust blindfolded my opinion.. :p

More spontaneous? I'm an Engineer... the real kind... the kind that loves math.

I think we're on to something here.

    Artist = Pam

    Engineer = Rolex

    :victory:

  9. Personally I don't do my purchases thinking if the item will go out of style in 5-10 or 20 years ;)

I buy NOW and I buy what I like best NOW. Live for today.. who knows what tomorrow will bring ;)

I'm just having a little fun :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I actually do make my purchases thinking 1. if I really like the item and 2. if the item will stand the test of time. I do that with everything, cars, homes, interior decorating. For example, in the 70's I deftly avoided the "Pacer"... well anything AMC or Pinto-ish... :yuk: when making a car choice. My homes have always been in neutral tones, hard wood etc. I know I'll be able to wear my Sub or ExpII 20 years from now without hesitation. Holy crap! I'm pretty much a boring dude :( I'm depressed now :wounded1:

I just get that "Pacer" feeling inside when I see a Pam. Something tells me it's an expensive flash in the pan.

  10. Don't know what you say but I personally liked Panerai that much that I bought a genuine 3500$ BASE (in every way) watch that 90% of the people around me don't have a clue about it.

Now what if I had bought a nice Submariner with that money?

Well some people buy things for themselves.. I know Panerai reps are close to the genuines BUT on the other hand liking the design that much I felt I had to buy the real deal.

At the end the history of Panerai is there.. Myth or not in my eyes it is a beautiful watch to have and wear. And with the straps I have the opportunity to change look every day and not getting bored of it (something that happens very often with my purchases).

V makes some good points... And best of all some things never go out of style :whistling:

  11. How about members/supporters get first crack at watch trades and dealer offerings. Let's face it, dealers and traders want as large an audiance as possible so limiting those areas only to paying memebers lessens the audiance. Make trades and dealer offerings visible only to paying members for the first 48 hours. After that... everyone can see them.

Missing that rare DW Daytona offering in the member trade section over and over again will draw some desire to upgrade... first crack and all.

  12. I'm hoping someone can give me some good advice on buying a Chanel J12 (ladies version). I notice that the white version (from perfect clones) is considerably more than the black. It seems they're available only as quartz.

Please let me know if there are any pointers you'd give me for getting the most bang for the buck with one of these.

    Thanks!

  13. Roses are #FF0000

    Violets are #3333CC

    All my base

    are belong to you!

    :yeah:

ps: there will be only 10 kinds of people that get this...

...those who understand binary, and those who don't.

:D As my boolean logic/machine code professor said "don't feel that you need to come to class... it's just one's and zero's how hard can it be?" Lost more than a few people that semester. :whistling:

Thankfully my advanced calculus professor (differential equations) did not lul us into such a sense of ease. he said "look around the room, if you don't like where you're sitting today, many seats will open up by the end of next week". :cryss::doh:
