'Brushed' or 'Polished' finish

Anyone know what the reason for the 'finish' of the sides of stainless steel bracelets? :D

The Submariner [stainless steel] has 'brushed' finish yet the Seadweller has 'polished' finish.

Would have expected the Seadweller to have 'brushed' finish if the rationale was for a durable rugged finish that will survive diving in the sea.

Curiously enough the TT Submariner has 'polished' side links.

Rolex, for whatever reason, polishes the edges of some models but not others. I assume it gives the watch a more "dressy" look.

The rep makers follow suit.

I have to admit, I like the polished look, as I feel it mirrors how the case of the Sub is brushed on the top of the lugs, but polished on the sides. I guess that's why I never thought the sides of the bracelet should be brushed
