Getting Glue Marks off of Dials?

Do you know what glue was used, or is this how it came from the factory?

Some glues can be literally "scratched" away (very carefully), eg GS Hypo cement.

Sometimes Rodico may lift it away, although it is more likely to lift out the markers!

There have been reports of using a bubbling denture cleaner on dials to clean them, although I think this may be more for ceramic style dials. Any dial which is printed, and has a paper base, would be affected by immersion in water.

In a lot of cases a solvent may be needed (such as Acetone), and this can have disastrous consequences.

Think solvent use, as only a final solution, when all else fails, and knowing you can source a replacement if needed.

Cleaning and "redialing" is a grey area, with no clear set of rules.
