Who has the best PAM 292?

Hi All,

I've been a lurker in the forum for the past month or so and for what it's worth, it's responsible for being the only single cause to the increase of my rep collection (from 2 to 10 in ONE month including a 111H DSN :-( each one is more than 200 bucks :-( ), esp. Panerais.

In the quest for the most uber reps out there, I've been reading stuff here almost every other hour when I'm in front of the computer (at work and at home) and have successfully researched for the best available PAMs out there for most mainstream models. But, and it's a big one for me is finding a very good out-of-the-box super rep for PAM 292.

I know that most PAM aficionados have gone for the Luminor models, which I'm a fan also. But I'm a much bigger fan of the Radiomir models and the 292 really appeals to me. Could anyone with an info of who's got the best work out there be kind enough to inform an "addict"?

So far, from my researches, the best available out-of-the-box 292 are carried by either DSN or Angus. Both feature SS body with PVD coating (faux ceramic in Cartel terms), asian high beat movement with swan neck & dagger. The differences are:

DSN

1. PVD seems to be better than Angus'.

2. No cannon pinion issue.

3. Better lume job.

4. Regulated and water-tested.

Angus

1. PVD work is described to be "brushed", not sure but PVD'ed PAMs shouldn't look brushed should they?

2. CP issue and lume issue but are fixable with his mod options.

3. Better strap, although the buckle would probably be better with the DSN's.

4. PayPal friendly.

Both are of the same price range even after shipping (DSN came on top a little due to WU fees :-( )

Is there any other source that's available? I heard some $700 Super Rep is/was available somewhere out there... I need to get all my reps as best out-of-the-box rep since I'm in Indonesia and modding is a very very niche' hobby here. Been trying to find a good watchsmith here but when my 183H broke and its crystal cracked no one would touch it because they are afraid of "ruining" such an exotic movement even more. I'm trying to find connections into the watchsmith that ADs are using who are rep-friendly but am still nowhere at that. I'm surrounded by rep supermarkets but most their goods are just plain jokes. The best stuff seems to be some of the cartel's higher quality items that get into the market when they drop ship.

I'll be grateful if any one of the geniuses / gurus here will help a bro out.

Thanks...

The best 292 is a used gen on paneristi, otherwise they are sold out. DSN has the best rep.

There is a ceramic 292 for sale on RG now. Just checked it is still available, and the seller is a great guy, I've bought a couple of watches from him.

By the way, just did an inventory and in the past couple of months I've amassed 13 PAMs and have two on the way. :D So I feel your pain

Thanks for the info Drulee. I just sent my list of questions to the seller. Need to make sure that it's all as close as possible (he seems to have the polished cannon pinion and the gen has a black CP it seems). Another issue with that one is that it doesn't have AR :-(

Yeah, the pain... This is what I've accumulated so far:

1. DSN PAM 111H

2. PAM 212 Best Version (arrived with a broken chrono gear, sending it back to Eurotimez for movt replacement)

3. Crappy 183H - ordering DSN's 183H this week

4. Fantasy PAM 322

5. Fantasy 47mm Radiomir (black case, see-through case back, black dial, with rose gold ring)

6. PAM 233.

7. IWC 3717.

8. Omega UPO.

9. DSSD Ultimate (I think, I bought it at a store here in Jakarta and the lume is not all blue).

10. Rolex Milgauss best Version.

11. TAG Heuer Carrera.

12. Omega Moonwalker.

And I still need;

1. Best 183H. DSN

2. Best 292. DSN or the RepGeek offerring

3. Ultimate 104. Cartel? or make it a point to start a project on this one. seems doable from what's available out there.

4. Ultimate Fiddy. DSN

Pete1, your 292 looks awesome!!! Now that strap selection is probably up there with Redstrap's copperhead, that strap on a 292 looks brilliant... Where did you get yours? I've got one ready for my 292 in a lighter brown shade and sewn-in PVD buckle, but the stitching is off-white.

Anybody knows how to obtain darker color of brown on a vintage strap? I heard olive oil will do the job...

I love that espresso color leather, but the stitching is not my cup of tea. I like plain and simple design, timeless classic. So if they lose the stitching all together, or just do the regular U stitch, that'd make it a very legible option.

Anyways, I've been selling a number of my collections posted above now. I've decided that I like clean looking watches, so I've sold the Speedmaster. TRYING to sell the Seamaster, Rolex Milgauss, PAM 233, and the Faux PAM 322 (not a real titanium bodied PAM). I've given away the black faux titanium PAM, DSSD, and the crappy 183H to some friends and families. So, I wanna end up with a few good quality PAMs and they will mostly BK/WM9, DSN, LH, or Cartel Ultimate.

I've got a few hundred bucks to spend on 2 nice PAMs from DSN adding to my DSN 111H. My dilemma is which 2 of these 4 that you guys would recommend:

1. PAM 183H

2. PAM 292

3. Ultimate Fiddy

4. PAM 005 Logo

Or, should I consider his other offerings as well? The first 3 on the list seems to be the top rated editions from his collection.

I thought about selling my DSN 111H to help finance Little Hero's version of the 111F, but his price is just way too high since it hovers around a decent second hand gen watch.
