lm4bp
I have been looking for a PAM 288 for some time (actually over a week), but everyone showing up on web has the display back. The genuine should have a solid back as I presume. Could someone help me on that, or I am just wrong about it??
sssurfer
Don't know where to find a close back 288 rep, but you are right about it.
aardian
There isn't any exist. The only closed back PAM 288 is the quartz version. All mechanical versions available come in display caseback.
lm4bp
But this is strange. If the genuine has solid back how come all replicas are display back. The dealers should prefer their products to be as closed to genuine as possible. Solid case back is easier to make and cost should be lower than display back, right? sssurfer
Rep makers often use parts originally made for a given model also on different similar models. I bet that the caseback of the 288 rep was originally designed for another Radiomir model. Btw, all auto 288 reps come from the same factory. kbiz
It's time for someone to do custom engraved casebacks!! Think of all the possibilities!!!
w0lf
Right on, it seems like the factory that used to produce thick proper solid caseback PAMs hasn't put anything out in a couple of years. We really need quality OP6500, 6502, 6508, 6518, 6520, 6524 heavy and well-engraved casebacks. Along the lines of of the old OP6518~B1176, B1700, B1900 etc. would be killer.
