skullsoldier Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Hey, guys - I'm relatively new to the RWG, but have gone full-tilt crazy for panerais with a specific emphasis on their larger cases. Though I originally got into the brand after buying a gen 111, my wrist size and tastes keep bringing me back to the classic 1950 design. There's just something about that domed crystal and 47mm case that works for me right now. I bought a rep from another member recently as a test shot to see how it would wear, and, in spite of not having the fully decorated movement, I fell in love with this timepiece...which brings me to my question: I'm looking for the most accurate "fiddy" out there with minimal need for mods (though I am willing to have some done). I'm leaning heavily towards the Davidson, but wanted some input before I plunked down the cash. All advice is appreciated and thanks in advance for welcoming me to this fabulous hobby! Scott
NoobyPanFan Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 For a Fiddy I would say DSN hands down... Most accurate for NEW out of the box.
paneristi Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 welcome on board! From what I have read in different forums Davidsen and Robert (Prestigewatchco) is the best address to purchase a fiddy. THough Davidsen is more dear with a price tag of $460 vs $299. The major difference is the movement. Rob only got one with an asian movement but at this price its steal. If you want to get it from ROb you need to be quick as they are limited to less than 20 watches per batch. I recommend you to use the search function by putting in keywords like pam127 fiddy 1950 etc. Good luck
paneristi Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 This is hw it will look like but just with an asian movement. ENJOY http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/105164-sadly-fs-pwc-ultimate-fiddy-with-cg-refinsh/page__hl__pwc%20fiddy__fromsearch__1
skullsoldier Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Thanks for the advice, guys - you're all amazing sources. Does Davidsed utilize a different movement than the Asian version discussed above? If he's implementing Swiss movements, it might be worth the extra scratch for me. Scott
OmegaPOFL Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 yes he can provide swiss movt. for the 127, definitely go with it as the engraving on it is amazinggggg..
Neuuubeh Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) There isnt a big difference quality-wise imo tbh. It will be much better if you have a decent watchmaker clean the movement for you anyhow. Edited October 9, 2009 by Neuuubeh
OmegaPOFL Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 FishgoDeep (FGD) is selling his AMAZING 127... if you get that... there's nothing more to do to it. holy crap, if i hadn't just spend money on 4 watches.. this fiddy would've been mine

skullsoldier Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Could not find a working link for the FGD fiddy, but I'll keep looking. As to the earlier comment re: the DSN fiddy, I have to agree that the engraving is truly impressive! Scott
