I just recieved that 1957 Rolex Oyster Perpetual. I just love the look of this watch. Silver dial with slight aging (must be a refinish job from a while ago), 1030 movement telling great time so far, great condition with just slight scuffing here and there. Howvever can someone tell me how I can tell if the riveted bracelet on this watch is real or fake? The end links are both marked "19" which I assume means 19mm, the inside of the fold over clasp is imprinted "1 62". Any way of telling? The pictures I have seen of gens seem to show a different looking crown on the clasp than what is on my watch but its hard to tell. I paid $1500..did I get a good deal?

The link dead ends Perry, probably because the auction is over? Not that I could assist anyway, but am interested. Post some pics and hopefully Freddy will see your thread...........

Cut and paste the link and you will get to it. When you hit it directly it does not work. I have taken off the bracelet and cleaned it with soap and water...sure was dirty! Another thing I notice is that the screw in crown will only screw in maybe 1.5 turns before it stops. Case is in great shape thats for sure. Dial and hands are lightly aged. The guy is telling me that the band is gen. For sure the inside of the fold over clasp (the two pieces that actually fold over) look gen since they are inscribed ROLEX etc nicely with a date of "1 62". I am not so sure about the rest of the bracelet however. Once agian I paid 1500 US which I think is a good price since I have not found another in as good of shape that cheap. What do you guys think? Keep or send back? All gen or mostly gen?

Looks like a nice watch. Rolex end links are often stamped with the end link model number (my OPD has 57 end links), which, even though the OP end links are 19mm, is not related to their size. Unfortunately, the seller's pics are too small & do not show the details of the bracelet clasp or engravings between the lugs. If you can post good, clear pics of both sides of the (open) bracelet clasp, the stamped side of the end links as well as the numbers engraved between both sets of lugs (12 & 6 o'clock), we can give you more definitive info. But everything I CAN see looks fine.

The watch is probably in need of a general servicing & the 1.5 turns to bottom the crown may be signs of worn threads on the crown tube (which should get changed during service).
