importr Posted April 12, 2010 Report Share Posted April 12, 2010 From past experiences of buying UPOs, not all UPOs are the same. The case and bezel are the same, but I've seen variations in dial and movt. Some UPO dials have the tiny serifs on the arabics (which is true to gen), other dials don't. Then there is the ETA 2824 and Asian clone. There is also the Sellita SW200 which is very similar to the 2824. I've found that the movt keyless works can get unsettled in the Asian and Sellita movts, but ok with the ETA. Most UPOs have crap crown & tube; which means that at some point they strip the threads and will need upgrading to gen parts. The bracelets and straps are the same. The casebacks are different also, soem have the chequer pattern duller than others. The gen caseback should have a satin sheen to the chequer pattern, not completely matte. On my ETA UPO, the caseback centre is matte; i've been meaning to polish it a little....
