Tips for trip to NY

My advise is to be very careful with this; I am aware of at least one scam where a perspective tenant arranges to rent an apartment from a con artist portraying themselves as a broker, makes the payments, even signs what they beleive is a legitimate contract only to find out the would be broker was not a broker, never had the apartment to rent in the first place, and obsconded with the funds. The tenant shows up at the building , the apartment owner has no knowledge of the arrangment and the tenant is turned away empty-haned. This happened in my building.

How long do you plan on staying, and what part of the city appeals to you the most? If 30 days or more, I know of a number of reputable short-term rental apartment type facilities that cater to business people. They are a bit pricier than residential dwellings but less expensive than full-service hotels.

Have fun !

I'm jalous as it appears I won't be able to be in the big apple this year :(

I see there are a lot of advices here so I won't post mine as I'm only a tourist!

But, for sure, if you want to "feel" the city then you will: it's only a matter of amount of hours you are prepared to walk :D

Make sure to spend some time in the park; it's the best way to merge with locals.
