Just bought an Aquatimer off the bay really like it but the crystal seems cloudy when you look straight on at it. At a slight angle it is fine. Any ideas what the problem might be it it ? Does it need replacing ?

Thanks

Pictures would be a great help in this situation :)

I've tried taking some but I can't really capture what I need. It's as if the glass is magnifying or too thick

Could be from internal moisture. Just had a Tag in the shop that had a real bad hazed crystal on the underside.

Get it to a watchsmith, they should be able to clean it up cheaply.

I would guess moisture as well. If you can't get to a watch smith here are a couple of home remedies which have worked for me which avoided removing the movement and dial but it depends on amount of moisture and level of seal at the various entry points:

- Open the crown and put next to a blow dryer at a reasonable heat. If there is not too much moisture and the leak came from the crown in the first place this may work

- Screw off the case back and pull out the crown and either light blow dryer again or put in a baggie with that "salt" dehumidifier that comes with cameras

But I would suggest you send it to a competent watch smith since something is obviously not properly sealed. :)

Thanks very much the blow dryer trick seems to have worked fine. It must have been something like condensation on the indide of the crystal.
