boomer775
Omega experts - Recently purchased a 45mm UPO in heavy need of refurbishing off the board to try my 1st stab at a franken project. 1st thing that I want to replace is the bezel insert. I have read the gen swap requires machining regardless of whether you want it to move or not. Not sure this is within my capabilities at the moment. Next thought was to get an aftermarket one off the 'Bay like this one: UPO insert. Upon reading this tutorial: Pugwash UPO Bezel construct, i see that the pearl isn't part of the insert, but the underlying bezel. The inserts on the Bay have the pearls in them. This topic was brought up here as well Franken UPO advice, in terms of what to do with the pearl, but it wasn't really answered. Do I have to shave/file off the pearl on the bezel to slap on the new insert with the pearl in it, or do i have to ditch the pearl that comes with the insert and use the current one. I really don't want to keep the current one as its pretty crappy to be honest... Any advice/insight would be great.
danza1812
The old pearl can just be flicked off with a knife it's only glued on lightly. Look at this link for advice. I've done 2 myself but it's painstaking work be warned! http://repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=29882
