Need Help With Fa Jones Purchase

Saw a genuine in rose gold last night in a Tournneau store and the wife just flipped. She promised me one for a 25th wedding anniversary present and, though it's still a few years away, she still winced at the $12,000 price. I told her I could get a rep for the interim and she liked Josh's rose gold decorated movement version.

I, of course, have a few ruminations. Decorated asian Unitas vs undecorated swiss unitas? Rose gold plated, (her favorite) vs stainless (my reasoned favorite, no fading). I only plan on wearing this rep very lightly, say, once a week. Would the gold hold up for a reasonable amount of time? Where would be the best place to get a decent croc strap that would approach OEM specs?

Any advice on the asian vs swiss vs stainless vs gold plated delima???

gold plated on reps are bad... can´t used it many years. but if you wear the watch only 1 time/week it is ok.

asian movement looks much better... like genuine...but swiss movement works MUCH BETTER. Swiss movement works perfect and watch is heavyer... asian movement is cheap and very light.

my Tipp: bought asian version for nearly 150$. Purchase one GENUINE SWISS DECORATED UNITAS 6498-1 (170$) from my shop and rebuild this movement in your watch. So you have paid total 320$. But you can sell the asian movement here on rwg or in ebay for around 80-100$. So you have a GREAT WATCH for around 220-230$. I have rebuild decorated unitas 6498-1 in many Jones Replica watches... and it will look perfect and will fit perfect... NOT PAY 230-250$ FOR UNDECORATED SWISS VERSION FROM SELLERS. It not worth it.

Here's another tip: Avoid the stainless model with the blue hands. These hands are of terrible quality. The blue finish is flawed (chipped, scratched, pealed) on most of these reps. Even if you happen to get one with good hands, they are sure to be damaged the first time they are removed for service.

By process of elimination, this leaves you with the platinum rep.

This is a decorated 6498? It looks like the 6498 in the swiss versions. Maybe it has some machining but it doesnt look at all like the genuine. Your offer is intriguing and I would jump at it if the decorated swiss looks like the decorated asian.

Tourbillon is stating that the bridges on his watch are decorated (in this case with Cotes de Geneve finishing). He is not implying that it is the same finishing/decoration to the bridges as genuine or the Asian decorated movement in the Jones watch.
