donerix Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 16, 2011 To make it water-resistant you have to either use only shark leather (some are soft enough to do so, others are a bit uncomfortable). Or you use a water resistant material for the lining. The thread and glue will hold up. Of course if you take it in the water you should make more of an effort to maintain the strap by regularly treating it (mink oil works well for me). This is an old thread I know, but if I could get one of those tan hornbacks (for AP deployment) from my Montauk Highway I would love it. If it can be done with turquoise thread that would not only be a big plus for me, it'd remove my need to add it after.
