Hey guys been away a while. Found these videos on Youtube showing how they make Panerai watches, I thought I would share the links with you. It makes me wonder why they are so expensive to buy, the process is pretty generic.

They are expensive for the same reason all the other big name brands are expensive, the very reason they are repped to begin with,

status.

Its all about the name on the dial.

What I take away from that video is that making ETA based watches is like printing your own money once you have a printing press (CNC machine)...

But designing a brand new in house movement, that's got to take at least $5M in R&D, maybe a lot more. Along with material costs, overhead and advert you've got to sell a few limited editions out for a few years to recoup that...
