Watch exports in the first half of 2011 showed a year-over-year increase of 19.3 percent to 8.7 billion Swiss francs ($10.8 billion) led by growth in Asia, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH). Last year’s level was surpassed by more than 1.4 billion francs ($1.7 billion), placing the sector above 2008 export levels.

The asians are making all the money from us sending it there. 10 years ago everything made in china was crap. now they are starting to be on par with japan.

The U.S. was the second biggest market up 19.6 percent for the period to 906.3 million Swiss francs ($1.1 billion).

Recession...what recession...?!

Given that Swiss watches are not exactly a necessity in life...this is a preview most likely of all luxury sectors in the USA...

Only the lower-middle and lower class in America are challenged. People with the creativity and the where-with-all appear to be prospering...given this statistic (and take a look at the value of the Swiss Franc vs. the dollar)
