PPN
I know that this has historically been one of the better IWC reps, but there were a couple glaring flaws - the date font and the lack of AR coating. I know that most dealers coat the crystal double-sided with AR now (at least that's what it says on the website). Has anyone purchased it recently who can confirm this? Has the date font issue been fixed as well? Thanks.
AsiadeCuba
The problem is that the hue of the ar is too blue. It is double sided. And no, the datewheel will never be fixed. You need to install eta datewheels.

Texski
PPN, It depends on what you want. If you are planning on sending it to the service center, then it won't pass. But if you are going to wear it to impress the public, it is fine. I have a 3717 Spitfire and the AR is quite appropriate. It is a light, and perfect for the dial. I also have the IWC saphire and was wondering why I spent so much for it ... but it is VERY nice. The 3717 case is one of the most accurate reps. If the flaws bother you that much, I can set you up with IWC parts. Everything is fixable on this watch, it is greatly improved from the first version. If you like it, there's not a good reason not to get it. Case in point, the picture you posted on another thread. Rolexman
I ordered one last week. Could't really make out the AR from the qc pics. Will let you know how it is when I've received it.

How difficult is it to get the datewheel modded with the correct font? How much would something like that cost (ball park)? I ordered one last week. Could't really make out the AR from the qc pics. Will let you know how it is when I've received it. I'd appreciate that. Who did you buy from, if I may ask?
sempire
Perhaps you have a point. How difficult is it to get the datewheel modded with the correct font? How much would something like that cost (ball park)? I think the datewheels plus shipping is probably under $100. If you want to the the datewheels, taka AR, and gen crown/tube, you're probably looking at another $300, installation, relume and servicing would probably be another 400-$500.. I think you can come away with a pretty good franken serviced, for about $1000
Rolexman
I'd appreciate that. Who did you buy from, if I may ask? Andrew. Problem is I rejected it due to a damaged hand and I'm still waiting for new QC pics so it can take I while before it is in my hands...

Problem is I rejected it due to a damaged hand and I'm still waiting for new QC pics so it can take I while before it is in my hands... You know I can take care of that. Just swap the dial and hands. I've sent some people to you needing servicing. Wish you did minor casement ... Mike

You know, I'm actually wondering if this rep is good enough to pass with the general public (in other words, people not on this forum or people who nitpick every detail on the watch! :-D)

This is one of the best reps out of the box! Is just us guys that are being anal about details ;-)
Texski
Definitely! This is one of the best reps out of the box! Is just us guys that are being anal about details ;-) We are being thorough with the details. One time I went to look at a watch, and it was a BAD rep. I started pointing to things on my watch to show her what it was supposed to look like. It is a great feeling to use a rep to expose a rep! It's a great rep ... but always room for improvement. But we'll see how it actually looks when it arrives
Texski
I wonder if some of this work is done with a laser, and they do not burn as deep. Mike
