panermaniac
Hi, my grandfather Oliver Philpot was one of the 3 men that escaped from Stalug Luft III using tunnels built under wooden exercise horses. For three months three prisoners, Lieutenant Michael Codner, Flight Lieutenant Eric Williams, and Flight Lieutenant, Oliver Philpot, in shifts of one or two diggers at a time, dug over 100 feet (30 m) of tunnel using bowls as shovels and metal rods to poke through the surface of the ground to create air holes. On the evening of October 29, 1943,Codner, Williams, and Philpot made their escape. I would like to commemorate his achievements by getting a replica of the Rolex watch that many British officers wore during WWII. I don't know for sure if he had the 3525 but there was a story that they used this model to time the guards as they did their rounds. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ian Here are some links http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Philpot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wooden_Horse

panermaniac
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Neither of those really do it for me... they just don't have the class of the original. And I don't really want to deal with someone who says their model comes with a "Realy Leather Band" HA! I'll keep looking thanks again
Valty
I think it will be very difficult to find or create a good replica of the 3525, as there is only few gen models on the market; and to my knowledge no custom case is available What about the 6036 Triple Date with a Valjoux 72C ? Will be much easier to do in a custom project. The case of the 6036 IMO looks like the 3525 case. You should also look to a Valjoux 22/23 compatibility (with 2 registers) with the 6036 case. Take a look on the Phong's website to see the 6036 case. If it fits, all you have to do is to find a decent 3525 dial with hands. Will probably be the hardest part :-) Oh -- all I said really depends of your budget, of course If you have less than ~ 3-4k$, go with the cartel version Good luck
