nathanchorley
At the tender age of 19 I am looking at buying my first gen Rolex. I have found this one on Ebay, having spoken to the seller he said I could pick it up and pay £1850 cash, which is cheap for a 2004 Datejust. What do you guys think? The seller has sent me the serial number although I have just tried to ring Rolex to check it against their register and their offices are shut for the Christmas period. So, am I being naive or does this check out? http://cgi.ebay.co.u...#ht_6244wt_1113 Edited December 28, 2011 by nathanchorley
freddy333
The watch looks ok, but without a good, clear pic of the movement, it is impossible to be sure. Also, the seller has little history (& all private sales, which might mean there is something funny going on) & what he does have appears to be mostly non-Rolex watch parts like bracelet links & non-watch-related, so I would either have the watch checked out at a Rolex dealer before you pay or pay with a credit card (so you can cancel the charge if something does not check out) & take the watch right over to a Rolex dealer as soon as you pick it up. Good luck.
speedbird100
Why not find a nice piece for sale over at the Vintage Rolex Forum? Lots of trusted sellers, better prices too. All of my Rolex/Tudor stuff comes from VRF. http://www.vintagerolexforum.com/ If you do you're homework, you'll come out on top.
nathanchorley
Thanks for that guys. The watch seems to have disappeared off Ebay so ill check out VRF. Cheers ! Edited December 29, 2011 by nathanchorley
speedbird100
VRF or TRF are the way to go. Vet your seller though
