marblegranite
First of all I would like to say thank you to all of you that contribute to this community and make it so great. At first I was overwhelmed with the amount of information. But after spending almost 2 full days reading a gazilion posts, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I just placed an order for the Cartier Santos 100 with stainless steel bracelets. I'm just not very confident that I chose wisely. I wanted to run this by you guys since I still have time to modify the order if I need to. From the reviews that I have read the best Cartier Santos that is out there is the ultimate, which does not come with stainless steel bracelets. And the leather bracelets that do come with it are not of great quality. Redwatch, who wrote an excellent review of the Santos Ultimate w/ leather strap, mentioned on another review that the reason he doesn't wear his Santos ultimate that much is because of the leather strap. Good god that watch is amazing looking on that bracelet!!!! I loved my Santos, but I didn't wear it much because of the leather strap! If I had one on that bracelet I think I'd wear it a lot more!!! I sincerely hope someone chimes in on this thread to share the super secret source of that bracelet!!!! Quote Source: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/138826-ultimate-cartier-santos-100-with-steel-bracelet/ I compared the pictures on Andrew's website of the Ultimate with leather strap and the stainless steel versions. For the life of me I couldn't notice any difference. Maybe I need new glasses. Can you guys point out the differences, other than the strap, between these two versions? I even looked specifically at the cabochon crown ruby detail and couldn't notice any difference (other than the color, which I thought was the lighting). If there are many differences I'll change my order to get the ultimate with leather strap and look for an OEM strap. Below are the links to the Santos I'm comparing. I'm not endorsing Andrew since this is my very first order with him. Although I can say that he has been providing amazing service so far; and promptly answering all my e-mails. czernick
i imagine there probably isn't any differences between the leather and steel bracelets in terms of the watch face... the watchmaker probably just attaches a leather or steel bracelet to the watch depending upon your preference one thing i noticed is that this replica says it has a cabochon ruby... i have a genuine cartier santos 100 and it has a sapphire that looks quite blue... its a small detail for sure but just thought i'd mention it. marblegranite
Based on the reviews I've read the dial of the ultimate version is the closest to the gen. Unfortunately that version is not available in a stainless steel bracelet. I asked the dealer if I could purchase the ss bracelet separately, but that's not an option. Even though I could not notice any difference between the two I've changed my order for the Ultimate version with the leather strap. I'll join the ranks of other forum members on the lookout for a Cartier OEM strap.
mikellem
I think you made the right decision and you will be very happy! Keep your eyes open for a gen strap or have Aaron at HK Tan make one for you MM
maxman
I would have went with the ss version with the Swiss eta 2824. Hopefully you will find a rep bracelet..I have heard they are very good....unless of course you must have a gen....bring money. Mike

Keep your eyes open for a gen strap or have Aaron at HK Tan make one for you MM Thanks for the tip. I'll search for some pics and reviews of a strap Aaron has made for a Santos and get one ordered right away. I'll also figure out which tool I need to purchase to replace the strap. I heard the gen bracelet is hard to find, especially for a reasonable price. Let the hunt begin...
