thedoctor Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 I'm getting bored of my 036 and am thinking about changing the dial. I thought I read before that Davidsen's dials need a little modification to fit a standard case. I've emailed him a couple of times about this but haven't gotten an answer. Anyone know?
fotoman Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 i have read they are slightly larger. So they need to be trimmed a bit. I have a 177h dial going to The Zigmeister for install but it won't be for a few weeks yet
Finepics Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Yes they are larger so you need to reduce by 1mm.
bosk Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Yes they are larger so you need to reduce by 1mm. what's the best method for reducing the size of the dial? File or cut? TIA
pannylovernr1 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Anybody done it reverse; installing a Josh/Andy dial in a Davidsen case? know it will be a gap there, but how to fix it?
thedoctor Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 Thanks for the quick answers. That kinda sucks that they don't just drop in. Oh, well, there goes that project.
subzero1 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 But the Davidsen case in real life is so much better and more "powerful" presense in real life for the Luminors compared to other reps. I am having a small problem with one of my davidsen dials (not enough superlume), but I LOVE the case, it's pretty awesome, and I've got a lot of other reps with luminor style cases to compare it with. I will say that davidsen is great to work with, and that if there are problems he will certainly take good care of you.
HauteHippie Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Anybody done it reverse; installing a Josh/Andy dial in a Davidsen case? know it will be a gap there, but how to fix it? I know this has been done, but don't know what the resolution for the gap was...
pannylovernr1 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I know this has been done, but don't know what the resolution for the gap was... Thought about melted black plastic around the dial edges or a black giant rubber o-ring? Any updates?
