bsan Posted March 16, 2012 Report Share Posted March 16, 2012 Hi Guys, after reading this forum for a long time and going to an AD to try and see some gens, I decided to go for my firs rep. I am sure is going to be the first step in an (expensive) but hopefully satisfactory path to Panerai happiness. Here is my request for advice: After reading a lot, I am debating between a PAM 029M or a 005 both from Noob. I will buy a gen strap for the watch (always liked black croc but not sure it fits well with the watches - suggestions welcomed) Of the 2 watches which one is the best? I mean, I like them both but cannot buy them both now so if you had to choose which one would you go for? My understanding is that both are excellent reps. Beside getting a gen strap is there anything else I should do? Service? Thanks a lot, this forum has been an enormous source of wisdom for me... lfovco Posted March 16, 2012 Report Share Posted March 16, 2012 As a first Panerai you may want to go with 005 instead 029. Definitely service it if you are planning to keep it for a long time. Servicing the 6497 movement in 005 will also be less expensive then 029 and potentially more reliable long term. As far as the strap, if you really like the black crock then go with it, it will fit the watch well. The strap is really you personal preference and you may hear countless opinions about that. There is so many great aftermarket straps to choose from and many of them are nicer and less expensive then genuine Panerai straps. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

lfovco Posted March 17, 2012 Report Share Posted March 17, 2012 You really need to look closely at the pictures. N factory reps are not always more accurate then H. It changes from model to model. I haven't looked at 005 differences but I can tell you that for instance the 111N Noob which is newer release then 111N H-fact is not as accurate to Gen as the H-Factory 111 and some other cases N will be better then H.
