speedbird100 Posted June 12, 2012 Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 Greetings, So quite a few of you have seen my Trevor 1675 thread and now that reality has begun to creep in, I've decided to mod it. Firstly, the watch is the cartel 1:1 and my question is this: Which WSO bezel assembly do I need? This for $79 http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=160797503878 Or this for $165 http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=170838596185 My next question is how did you guys solve the caseback problem. The 1:1 has a vintage rounded case back that I don't think was correct for a late 60s thru 70s 1675. I'm going to order the Clark crystal and a hand set from raffles to fix the dodgy hour hand. So case back and WSO bezel assembly. I'm curious if the cheaper of the two will fit the 1:1 ring?? woof* Posted June 12, 2012 Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 First make sure your watch has genuine bezel construction. I know the explorers do, but I don't know about the GMT. I've also decided to build an all-red gmt hand 1675 and I was able to source one for the eta movement. I'm going to stick with the stock dial and crystal for now. Keep costs down a bit. speedbird100 Posted June 15, 2012 Author Report Share Posted June 15, 2012 So here is what I've done so far: Drilled the lugs for gen spring bars Replaced the clasp on the jubilee with a really nice gen-like piece Sanded the spring bar loops on the end links and jubilee ends Disassembled the bezel ring for the WSO (on order) Disassembled the dial indicies, masked and reprinted the dial (more on this) Sealed the dial with a matte finish. So yes I reprinted the dial. Tritium this old doesn't glow anyway so I'm not worries about that. I went with whit because I like the clean, new look some 1675s have. There are 2 different paints used here. The first was a thicker cream acrylic used to paint the rectangular and triangle indicies. The other is a thinner mix used to paint the hour plots. I don't think it looks half bad for being free. Sure takes care of that puffy look the original dial setup had. I might go for a yuki dial eventually but this little project saved $130 so it was worth it.
