amanamongmen Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I have an automatic Pam 359 and while trying to set the time it came loose and won't set. I see an octagon shaped piece coming out. Is this easy to fix or fixable? Thanks for the help
panermaniac Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 If I understand you correctly, it sounds like the crown and/or stem has come loose. If that's what it is, it's an easy fix.
amanamongmen Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 yes i think that is what happened. is it still easy to fix if its an automatic?
amanamongmen Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 I will add a picture when i get home tonight. the stem is not coming out completely. It seems to be spinning freely. It also feels that a spring is pushing it out. There is no two stopping positions. It is out all the way when i release the clasp. Someone in another post i found suggested if it was a manual wind that a screw came loose, but i dont know if that is the same for an automatic. thanks everyone
amanamongmen Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 not sure if that explains anything. but when i pull it out , it spins freely and wont set time or date.
amanamongmen Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 yeah i pulled it off like you said and it came all the way off with a spring. i can see a little screw in there. i was going to send it to you MD2020 to lume anyway lol
Rolexman Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 The stem didn't came out of the movement. The mentioned spring incicates a faulty or broken crown clutch. The stem is still in the movement (that's the screw thread you see). It can not be repaired and you need to source a new crown. Or as an alternative remove the clutch mechanism and shorten the stem. The spring mechanism will be lost. This as to be done very carefully to ensure water resistance.
