Watch Service / Repair UK - anyone used "Thewatchguy"?

HI Folks,

 

I bought a Franck Muller King Cortez Chrono from a private seller on RWI forums. The watch arrived this morning and I love it but unfortunatly the chronograph is stuck and does not work. I have been wearing the watch since morning and the chrono now works albeit for a couple of mins and then gets stuck again. 

 

I have been seraching google for UK watch repair and this website came up - I spoke to the guy and he is happy to work on replicas and has done a few before with blog write ups - have a look here:

I am sending him my watch tomorrow and he will get back to me with an estimate and if he thinks he can have a go at fixing my watch.

Looks like a good resource, shame about his current personal circumstances. Hopefully it may be a useful contact in the future.

OK Folks - I can't recommend this guy highly enough. I posted my watch out via RMSD yesterday and it reached him today. Christian opened my watch up and had a look - here is what he told me 

"The problem with your watch was that each functional part of the chronograph has to be in the right position for each stage - e.g. the hammer to reset to 0, the brake to stop the wheels, etc. All this is controlled by a central piece with a couple of cams on it. This is moved by the start/stop button, and by the reset button. If any of those elements is out of sync, you have to remove the cams, and reset each lever into the right position, put it back together, and Bob's your uncle again!!"

He did what was required and charged me £29 including return postage - the watch will hopefully be back with me tomorrow.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this chap - he is amazing
